In 1997, Kanu Surf set out to build and sell better board shorts for men, women, and children.
Founded right in the heart of the Garment District in New York City, they first sold door-to-door to local surfers, mom and pop surf shops, and a few gift stores at local beaches. Sleek & Functional Trunks
I got this for swimming in our local pool – nice modern design and even better function swimsuit! Several deep pockets including a cargo pocket, which can hold my cards while swimming.I’ll definitely use this for more than pool time – it’s going to get beach time next summer and even casual to wear on a nice day.Size Large is great for me: 5’10” (180 lbs)

Nice Shorts but Are Binding
I’m an overweight, adult male with a 38″ waist and stand 5’9″. I typically wear L-XL pants and 2X shirts due to having a stocky frame in addition to being overweight. The trunks are actually a little large around the waist and will fall off if I don’t tie them. The liners however are very snug and squeeze my bits. The shorts themselves bind a bit in the thighs when swimming. I frequently have to hike they legs up a little to have full movement. I really like the trunks overall, just wish they were more comfortable to wear.

just as pictured very pretty colors
The fit was accurate. My husband is a little short 5’7″ , 180# and he likes the way they come to his knee…. I ordered these in a few sizes. I usually read the reviews better I feel like when he tried these on he was a large. He has lost some weight since then.

Exactly What we ordered
We bought these for my husband as he was in need a new suit before we went on our last summer vacation. We ordered a size up from the last suit we purchased as the last one ran a little small (a different brand). Needless to say, ordering one size up was a perfect fit and although a little big in the waist, the ties came in handy. The length of the shorts were perfect too and fit like the image looks. My husband said overall, they are comfortable and look good.

Perfect!
Couldn’t be happier with these. I normally wear a medium (32-33) and these fit perfectly. I like that the length goes down to my knees. Quality is great. And it’s really comfortable to wear–at home and outdoors. I will buy some more.Update (July 26, 2020): I was so satisfied with these Green pair, that I bought the Navy and Aqua as well. I should point out that I wear these around the house, to do grocery shopping, to run errands, etc. (So I can’t comment on using them for water sports, etc.). I wash them in the washer, then let them dry outside (or inside) with the inner mesh liner out. They dry really fast. The only thing I don’t like about them are the two vertical stripes. Without them, they would look like regular cargo shorts (which is how I use them) instead of athletic shorts. But this is a minor deal compared to all of the positives about these shorts.Note: I’ve noticed that more styles are being added under this one item. And I wanted to mention that depending on the style, the size and the feel of the fabric are different.For example, I also bought the Black Camo shorts. As far as fit (waist) and length (just to or slightly below the knee), they were exactly the same as the solids (green, aqua, and navy.) However, the Camo ones have a white lining which is sticky. That is, when my legs get hot, the white inner fabric sticks to the back of my thighs, and I have to peel it off. I noticed this when sitting indoors or when I get out of my car after driving. This was too uncomfortable for me, so I returned them. (However, this sticky effect is apparently a result of them being quick-drying. So if you are getting these for wearing to the pool or beach, they might be good for that.)I also bought the Floral ones (green/black), In addition to having the same sticky material as the Camo ones (which was a deal breaker), the floral ones were an inch shorter in length (which meant they rise up to to mid-thigh when I sit down (another deal breaker) than the Camos or Solids (green, navy, aqua.)So overall, for my purpose of just wearing these causally (around the house and running errands) the solids (with the two vertical stripes) have been the best for me. They are a perfect fit (waist and length) and don’t stick to the back of my thighs (no sticky white material). And they are easy to take care of, since they dry really fast.

Utilitarian
UPDATE:INCREDIBLE!!! Dollar for dollar… BEST TRUNKS EVER!!!! Obviously, they ain’t no Quicks or Bong but they are half the price and I wear them twice as much. Which brings me to the best part… durability. They quickly became my first string boardies partly for comfortability but mostly to prolong the life of my other, far more expensive ones. They logged countless hours at the beach, in swimming pools and occasionally left in my car sometimes for days. But the second summer they really got tested. I work construction mostly within 1/4 mile of the beach so they saw lots of double duty, straight from work to waves. That means 8 hours of sweat, paint, nails, splinters, hot metal and power tools often followed up with a few more hours on the beach, in salt water or chlorinated pools. I estimate 40-60 hours/wk of use over the last 6 months. The waistband is still stretchy, the seams are fully intact and the cuffs remain crisp and without fraying of any kind!!! That last one is exceptional.Generally my trunks begin failing at the seams around the crotch after the first year/summer season and the leg cuffs start separating and fraying shortly after… and those were high dollar name brands that cost way more.The only reason I’m updating my review is because I came back to order two more pairs for next season. THEY ARE THAT GOOD!!! (Except for the liner thing but nothing a pair of scissors can’t fix lol)ORIGINAL REVIEW:I surf but am tired of paying $50 for new boardies every summer so thought I’d try these as my backup pair this year. As much as I dislike elastic waistbands they did a good job of incorporating it so that it doesn’t appear obvious. They look nice and seem put together well (will follow up at summer’s end). BUT… as others have mentioned, the stripe should be more apparent in pics. ALSO, liners are for kids. “I was about to buy these SAAAWEET pair of trunks… but they had no liner” said no surfer ever. And if you’re wearing boxers with them please come to my beach, we’re always up for a good laugh. BONUS POINTS for wearing pants, shoes and of course socks with sandals. Mahalo!

These match sons swimming trunks!
I was SO happy to find these in colors not typical of bathing suits nor the never ending blacks of men’s clothing in general, but what sold me was the fact that these (at least the pattern I bought) also comes in boys sizes, so I was able to get dad and son matching swimming suits for this summer! It’s absolutely adorable and they’ve stood up to the use and abuse they’ve been put through this summer despite lackluster stitching. We’ll be coming back for more next year if we can’t get the boys in this pattern, in the bigger size for our son to keep dad and son matching.

My issues with these shorts
First time using the shorts lost an eyelet from the draw strings. It fell off when I pulled the strings to tighten them. The Shorts also have that white mesh liner inside the shorts which makes them in uncomfortable (cut that part out).

Comes to the knee!
I’ve been tired of looking for swim trunks at stores and they all come almost to my *****! These come to the knee for me. I’m 6″3. So if you’re tired of all this wierd bs of guys wearing short shorts, then you should buy these.

The Best Swim Trunks
These swim trunks are terrific! They are very comfortable and light and are a perfect fit for me. I think they are properly sized, as I have an XL, being 6’1′ and just over 200 lbs. Just what I was looking for and couldn’t be more happier with this brand. I like the way the draw string pulls together to tighten around you waist. I’m VERY pleased with these as I’m sure you will be too, if you are considering buying this brand from this seller. Go for it!

Fine But Loud
Sometimes a bathing suit will make the “swishy” noise when you walk. This is one of those suits. It’s not the squeak when it’s wet, but the unfortunate almost diaper-like swish of fabric moving. It’s fine to swim with and doesn’t fill with air like other shorts, but the dry moving sound and inflexibility of the fabric are what make it a 4 star for me.

Great Buy.
I purchased these for my young adult son. He is 6’2″ and prefers a long cut in swimwear shorts that falling just above the knee. The sizing was very accurate to his measurements and for the price the quality of the shorts are extremely well made with strong stitching on the seams. Highly recommend.

Swim suit
The size chart was way off. The first suit arrived as a “L” and was way too small. I returned it and reordered 2 sizes larger. The suit arrived. I can wear it but it is still one size too small. The next larger sizes are not available either, which is annoying.The suit itself is very nice. Great quality and feel.

Good swim trunks
My husband is 6’0”, 180 pounds with a small beer belly. After reading reviews I opted for XL but think he could have sized down to large. They fit him and stayed on but looked comically large. He didn’t care how they looked and said they were comfy so whatevs. He said the mesh liner is also comfortable. Material seemed like a good quality and they air dried quickly.

Finally, a comfortable swim trunk for dudes for in the water and around town
I usually do not write these up, but was really happy with this product.I am a big dude so I often end up buying trunks that are skin tight, or too big and don’t cinch up enough to keep from sliding down when diving in.These work great, the sizing was spot on. I bought big dude trunks and got big dude trunks, but they cinch up tightly so if you like your trunks a bit loose these will do the trick and not fall off.They also look good and have workable pockets if you end up leaving the water and hitting a beach bar with friends. You can throw on a t-shirt and still wear these around.A good purchase that worked out well for me.

My new favorite swim trunks!
Bought these last minute for a beach trip as I was going to be at a hotel multiple days and needed more than one pair of swim trunks. Took a chance on these as I was concerned about some of the reviews saying they were too tight and/or the liner was uncomfortable. Hate to break it to those folks but no, these trunks are perfectly sized and, if anything, run a bit larger than expected. I found them to be really comfortable and while I was thinking I wouldn’t like the longer length of these (i.e., over the knee surfer guy look) I was pleasantly surprised and like them. As difficult as it can be to find decent swim trunks I think these are awesome and a great value. They replace a pair I bought from costco that I came with a compression-like liner (like bike shorts) that were hot and uncomfortable and cost twice the price.

Pocket not competed in swim suit
Nice swim suit, fit was great, first time I put my phone in the pocket the phone dropped to the floor. The pocket was not sewn shut it is wide open at the bottom. Of course this is the right side pocket I would use the most. Other than that mistake it is a good swim suit.

Great for big guys
Me and my husband started going to Aqua Fitness and he needed some swim shorts.And being a big guy, Target, Walmart, etc don’t have his size in store. So after reading reviews, we choose this one.He loves the fit. Sizing is ok, but you can go down a size if you want tug fit. He can move around in them good. He did cut the netting out, because he says he always does that. I don’t know, lol.Definitely will be buying more.

Great pockets, snappy colors
These are great beach britches. Also inexpensive.They are longer than my typical shorts, so at first they bothered my knee cap,but after a few tries I got used to this.I also found that they only get so tight.While losing weight on my trip, I had some trouble keeping them up when climbing onto a board in the water. Fine for walking around town.
