Step 1

Take the measurements during the afternoon or evening, as the feet can swell during the day.

Step 2

Place a sheet of paper on the floor against the wall, and place one of the foot heel against the wall.

Step 3

Mark the length of the foot with a pen in front of the longest toe. Then repeat the process with the other foot.

Step 4

Measure the distance from the lower part of the sheet and the drawn line. Compare the result obtained with the sizing chart.

Good boot but NOT temperature rated for -40 F

Love that I finally found a wide winter boot for my 2 year old girl. Although it’s frustrating that the product description indicates that this boot is temperature rated for down to -40 F and when received the tag on the boot, see included picture, clearly states -25. We live in Maine and yes, I won’t bring my daughter out below 20 degrees F, yet I wanted the extra warmth as her last pair or these exact boots left her feet cold on days above freezing. I’ll give them a try but am annoyed! And three minutes later I compared this wide Kamik to regular ones and the inner felt liner is actually narrower. The boot itself is the same width as the regular. Grrr. Don’t bother if you need a really warm wife boot. Head straight to Sorels which are warmer, and their regular width looks much wider than the wide Kamik.

    Runs small

The only negative thing I can say is they run so small. My daughter couldn’t fit her foot in it! I took her to the store and she fit a size 1 even though she was sized to a 12. I purchased the same boots in person for my other child and loved them. They’re so warm. The liner comes out for faster drying. The color options are nice. I will buy these again in the size that fits.

Excellent Quality, Loyal Customer of Kamik Boots

This is probably my child’s 9th pair of Kamik boots and he requests them every year or when he outgrows a pair. Excellent quality, our go-to brand every winter. He wears them well into the cold spring weather during rainy, muddy hikes too. Easy to clean, always look new. A few years ago I was in the midst of yet another purchase for my child and decided to get a pair for myself on a BOGO sale from the big boys’ section of a children’s shoes store since I have averaged size feet for a woman. I wear them on nasty winter days when warmth and comfort are top priority and fashion doesn’t matter so much. Very happy with every purchase of Kamik winter boots. My feet are always warm, dry and am confident to have stable traction on ice/ snow, and freezing rain in any trek through the worst of New England storms.

    not photogenic, but funtional

These boots have turned out to be perfect for my wild, 9-yr-old daughter. She is very hard on her clothes and we live in an area that is snowy and cold in winter. she liked the idea of more “fashionable” boots, but the reasonably priced ones I bought her began to fall apart after less than a week! These boots are not much to look at, but they match her brown and teal coat, seem to be indestructable–we are around two months and counting–And the price was reasonable. They are comfortable and warm and her feet are dry after hours of play in the snow. Wish I had skipped the pretty ones–she can wear those to church, but not much else. If you have snowbunnies at your house that really like to wear stuff out, these boots are perfect. I bought them a little large, because they had adjustable velcro and a gaiter cinch cord at the top. If they still look this good at the end of this winter, there is a good chance she will wear them another season.

I really like these boots for my kids

I really like these boots for my kids. 7 year old son has red and 9 year old daughter has pink. They hold up really well. Her feet are actually sweaty hot when she comes in from hours in the snow. His are slightly chilled but I think that is just him – they are honestly the first boot he’s had that he hasn’t complained about his feet being cold – including a pair of UGGS snow boots I had found him last year. They hold up really well. I’ve gotten two seasons out of my daughter’s and they look brand new. I don’t know if you can wear them all day comfortably because my guys don’t make it much past 2-3 hours in the snow. I don’t know about the arch support, they just don’t complain about these ever which is a big step!

    Wide is still narrow

Bought a pair of regular that were too narrow for my toddler and so I bought the wide which she said were too tight and comparing them they looked the same width. On kamiks website the description makes it seem like the only reason these are called “wide” is because they have a more generous fit in the calf and not in the foot. The quality is good, but they are just too narrow.

    Inaccurate description

I ordered these because some of my kids inherited my wide feet. The description was for wide but they are anything but wide. I got busy with life’s distractions and missed the return window so now I’m stuck with them. That’s totally my fault of course. If your kids have narrow feet these will be great but if not stay away from these.

Great boots for a child that spends all winter skiing

We ski every weekend all winter since one of my kids is on a ski team. I bought these for my youngest (7 years old) who is not only always cold but always seems to like playing in the mud and the stream of melt at the top of the parking lot. So she wears them in snow, lots of mud, and a little water.Pros:- Warm – finally, her feet are warm!- Light weight- Removable liner which can be washed- She loves the boots and never wants to take them off- Seem very well made. No issues so far.Cons:- She loves the boots and never wants to take them off – so I have to wash the liners and dry the boots frequently! In response to another poster – they are not fully waterproof. They are waterproof up to the top of the black bottoms. Then water resistant. These are not rain boots though – they are snow boots.

    awesomeness

They were awesome. I checked out a ton of reviews for a ton of different boots– I wanted a $30-$50 price range that had a removable insert, would stay warm, comfy, waterproof. My li’l guy loved ’em and he’s picky, picky, picky. His toes never got cold. The insert was high quality, easy to remove and mostly easy to put back in after washing. I washed ’em twice, didn’t dry in dryer– and they were great. Completely waterproof. We played outside a ton, and the water main broke in front of our house– the curb was full of icy water just before Christmas for a couple of days. He played in it for hours– seriously. His feet never got wet. Would buy again and recommend them, definitely! Very easy to put on, take off, but not big holes for snow to fall through. We also hiked up above our house in the Wasatch Mts. quite a bit, very deep snow.

Warm boots for below zero temperatures

I really do like this brand of snow boots for my children in our very cold winter weather. They are good quality, look nice, feel comfortable and keep feet warm. And if you utilize the gathers and straps as well as use snow pants they should stay dry from snow. A flaw is that they can get rather warm and by the end of the season maybe even stinky. Maybe a boot dryer would solve this problem, but since I usually buy on Amazon or off season finding a good prices ($20-$25) I start out new each winter. And with growing feet that is often a must anyway. I would recommend these to a good friend who also deals with below zero temperatures.

Wide is not very wide; too tight for my child

After reading other comments about width I got size 5W instead of size 5, to replace a size 4 Sorel boot for my nine-year-old. The Kamik 5W boot was still too tight on the sides so we are returning it.In the photo, the Sorel size 4 is on the left and the Kamik 5W is on the right. Does not look wide to my eye. Someone in these reviews suggested removing the liner if it’s too tight, but that does not seem like a reasonable option for a winter boot.

These appear to be well-made boots. I listened to …

These appear to be well-made boots. I listened to other reviews and bought a size bigger, however the insert is really thick and sewn up very narrow. I took the inserts out and made sure the boots fit and they were plenty big enough, it was the insert that his foot wouldn’t fit in. I had to take a pair of scissors and cut the stitching of the insert so his foot would fit. Then I shoved the insert back into the boot, and it fit perfectly. I only gave 4 stars for this reason. My son does have fat feet, though.

Order a size smaller than foot measures and keep these for years!

These boots are fantastic for kids, especially those with narrow feet. The velcro strap can be cinched tight to keep narrow heels in the boot snuggly. They are very easy to get on and off, even young kids can manage these on their own.BE AWARE: these are sized LARGE — my son measures a size 4, but the size 3 fits with plenty of room at the toe. This pair replaces a pair of size 1 boots that my son wore for more than 2 years! Note: the size 1 was beginning to be snug in the toe for a foot that measures a size 4. Order at least one size lower than your child’s foot measures!

    Good quality for MN winters

Resident Minnesotans Here. Took these out for the first time in October with 20 degree Temps. Hard for a 4 y.o. to put on/off by himself. Said they hurt and were tight, but may need to be broken in as he didn’t have any complaints once outside and preoccupied with snow/sledding. Kept him warm and dry. Like that they came up to his mid calf.

    Keep feet warm and dry

I love these boots! I remember growing up having to put bags over our socks before we put our boots on and our feet would still be soaked after playing outside. This is the third year in a row we’ve bought these for our four year old because no matter how long we’re outside in the New England winters, her feet are always warm and dry when we come inside and the boots are never soaked! I don’t think we’ll ever buy a different pair of winter boots for our kids. I did get them in a wide fit because when she’s bundled up, they’re a lot easier to get on, but they’re true to size. They’re so worth it!

    Too tight

I got my sons size and got them in time for the snow only to have him put them on to them being way too tight, the liner that is inside makes the boot a size smaller than what is advertised.

    They run small.

Had to exchange for the next size up. My sons foot wouldn’t fit in his “regular” size due to the insert. (I attempted to pull the insert out but it didn’t budge.) He hasn’t worn them yet so we have yet to see how they are in the winter.

The wide size are not wide at all

The boots are nice and warm, well made. However, I paid a lot of extra money for the wide size and they are not wide at all. The boot itself looks a little wide but the insert is narrow. Unfortunately I didn’t realize this until it was too late to return.

    Snow only

These boots are great for the snow. They keep my boys’ feet warm and toasty – even without a sock on (there is a removable wool liner in the boot) in NY winters. I used the size measurement from the website, and I do think they run true to size, but with the addition of a sock with the liner I would order a size (or two) larger next time. When the snow turns to slush, however, these boots disappoint, as they leak and the inside gets soaking wet – so much so that I had to remove the liner to wash and hang dry. So, they aren’t really an all-in-one winter weather boot, but they will work really great in snow and ice.

    Order Up 1 Size!!

My son has had similar boots in the past, so I ordered the next size for this year. My son still wears a 3.5 shoe, so I ordered a 4. The fit the same as his old 3s. So, I reordered a 5 and they’re perfect.Kamik makes a great product; these just aren’t sized correctly.

    Runs Small

These run small. I usually go up a size in winter boots so they last a couple winters. My son (7) wears a size 2 or 3 depending on the brand, and we had to get size 4 just for them to fit. Don’t think he’ll be able to fit them next winter.

    Great Boots!

This will be my son’s 3rd year in Kamik Rocket boots. As others have stated, they are not waterproof beyond the rubber bottom part but these boots are perfect for my 6 year old boy to play in. He wore his last pair for 2 years and they held up fantastically, the velcro did separate from the strap at one point toward the end of the second season but I used a little Tear Mender (also available on amazon) and it was fixed within 2 minutes. If it’s exceptionally slushy and wet outside and I know my son will be soaking himself to his knees I just slip a plastic bag between the lining and the boot, you can’t see it and it keeps his feet dry (Kamik should make a plastic insert cover for just this purpose, I’d buy that in a second!) For normal walking/play we don’t have an issue with his feet getting wet. You can also waterproof the boots with one of those sprays if it’s a really major issue – for me, it’s not, my old school plastic bag between the lining and boot works just fine when the snow is more slush than powder. These boots keep my son’s feet warm as he plays, the removable lining makes it easy to dry them out if they do happen to get wet, and I’ve even run the lining and boots through the wash when they got stinky from splashing in nasty mud puddles.I love these boots so much I bought the adult version for myself.

Pretty great snow boot! Nice & tall

Got these for my 3.5 year old. He normally wears North Face snow boots, but this year he’s wearing a size 10 snow boot and the toddler alpenglow boot we normally buy only goes up to size 9C; the Little Kids version is SO much more expensive. I decided we’d try these because they were on a great Black Friday deal, and they were taller in height. He loves them!! I love the velcro on the bottom to help tighten it up, and the gaiter-style top that cinches it tight around his calf. NOTHING is getting inside his boots or snow pants now!We just got about a foot of early snow in the PNW, and he got to test them out. His feet stayed warm and dry for a few hours sledding. He loves that these don’t have fuzzy fir inside (too “girly” he says). Instead, they have a thick wool liner. They have a bit of weight to them (more than the North Face ones) but they’re easy for him to walk and run in. He even wore them to preschool. The gray and bright orange color is so cool! Love the bright soles. Which, speaking of the soles, are SUPER durable and have great traction. For the first time all season, he didn’t slip and fall on his booty!Highly recommend them! They’re true to size and fit his wide feet well (regular width).Hope this helps. 😊

    Great boot

I guess these are technically a girls boot. The description says kids, but when I received them, the box stated girls. I bought these for my great nephew. He’ll never know the difference of being a girls boot. They are great. He has chubby feet, so I went “old school” and used plastic bags to help his feet slide in easier. His feet stay dry snd warm. Live the color. Fit true to size.

Excellent Quality- you won’t be disappointed!

These boots are wonderful! We live where it is 0 degrees quite often and most of the time when the kids are playing in the snow for hours on end is when it is between 15 and 30 degrees. I have been amazed at how warm their feet are when they come inside and take their boots off. I was a little concerned due to the price point but had heard good things about Kamik so I thought they were worth a try. I highly recommend! I asked my 7 year old a lot of questions after he had worn them several times. He said his feet stay warm the whole time and they fit well.I was amazed at how well constructed these are and yet not heavy. Where were these boots when I was a kid?

These boots are worth the price, amazon has the better deal!!!

Got these boots last week for my son, ordered half size bigger, fit perfect! he wore these boots at the mountains to go hunting with his dad, and it was very-very cold up there for thanksgiving, he said his feet were warm at all times, and even went through puddles of water and his feet stayed dry, you can adjust the elastic cord on the top to prevent snow or anything go inside the boot, can’t wait to see how these do in the snow! I love these boots and will definitely buy them again when he outgrows them. Also keep in mind, Amazon has the cheapest price on this style and color, I checked all sites including the sister site 6pm and as always, amazon didn’t disappoint. the delivery was super fast, 2 days from the moment I placed the order.

    Dependable boot for winter!

Very warm, kind of heavy & a bit large for my toddler but def durable, dependable & warm! It’s only large because I had to buy a 1/2 size up because they don’t make my 1 year olds size! My experience had been warm good snow boots are difficult to find for a 1 year old! I especially like the elastic on top that I can tighten & the removable pad inside! Perfect for winter & I can double up on socks on very cold days without a worry of her foot not fitting! I went through 2 other toddler snow boot, found no boots I like at the store, & sent 1 boot back online because I want a boot I know will keep my baby’s feet warm & with these I know they do!

Great boots but definitely size up

Love these boots but I would definitely size up. My daughter wears a size 7 and I purposely bought these one size bigger (toddler 8) so she could have room to grow or wear thick socks but they have no room to grow. The 8 is not tight but if I had purchased her true size (size 7) they definitely would’ve been. We like them a lot and are keeping them because they are very warm and durable. She just won’t be able to wear them next year.

Warm Boots for Sledding and Snowball Fights

My son loves Winter. The first snowfall is his favorite day and he looks forward to it all year long. These boots keep up with him and keep his toes toasty warm. He rates them a ten. They look good, slide on and off easily, yet don’t let snow get inside. What more could you want in a boot? These are perfection as far as he’s concerned and they are the only brand he is interested in wearing. We’re on our third year. I’ll admit that last year, I tried getting him a cheaper pair from Lands End and my son was very unhappy and his feet did not stay nearly as warm. I’m convinced..from now on, it’s Kamik’s for us. If your children love winter, too, get these and you can trust that they’ll be outside for hours and their feet will stay warm and dry. 🙂

Just order up two sizes… nice boot!

Luckily I read the reviews about size and bought this boot two sizes up from my daughter’s tennis shoe size. They are perfect with about an inch left over to get her through the year. We had no issues putting them on, I’m guessing those who did just had too small of a size with the sizing issue. Glad to have no zippers and the boots are tall to keep the snow out.Update: we just got our first wet sloppy snow of the year, my daughter was outside for hours in the wet snow and her boots stayed dry inside! I’m updating my review to 5 stars warm, dry and a great value… out weigh the sizing issue!

I really dun know how to rate the fitting. I ordered this 3 times. First I ordered a size 6 for my 10 year old (she’s a 4.5 in strite rite). It was way too big, I can wear them too (I am a size 8.5). Returned it, ordered a size 5. It is too small. The difference between a 5 & 6 is huge. Returned the size 5 & reordered size 6 from a different vendor. The last pair of size 6 I received isn’t the same size as the first pair of size 6. I cannot fit into the ‘newer’ pair of size 6. The 1st pair fittted me well but this new pair is tight for me & have my toes all curled up. Just guessing that the 1st pair of size 6 I received is off-specs.So, it is 1.5 size up from her regular shoe size, but that is assuming they didn’t send the off-specs pair.

    Love these boots

I’ve been buying these brand of boots for my kids for the last couple of years. For playing outside at home and at school they work wonderfully. My boys don’t complain about wet or cold feet. They don’t pick up their feet when they walk, so they do wear out the soles after a years worth of use. But there aren’t any soles that match up to kids who drag their feet.

    Sturdy and warm!

I am a female with size 6.5 feet and was having a very hard time finding snow boots in half sizes or sizes available for me at a good price. So at the time, I resorted to purchasing a big kid’s 4 so I could at least have some boots that fit me. Once the shoes were on my feet, I knew I’d made the right choice.- Sturdy! Sometimes I worry about spraining an ankle or tripping in the snow but these kept me balanced and upright.- Warm! It’s been dipping down into subzero temperatures here in the DC area and when I have to walk down the road to get the mail, these boots are here for me. My feet feel snug and cozy through every step.- Easy! In the mornings even during all of this snow I’ve had to refill my bird feeders. So I have my boots right next to the back door. I just slide my feet right in and I’m good to go trekking off into the bitter cold snow. If I decide to stay out longer I just pull on the strings for a secure fit.I let my nephew borrow these when I took him to the park. I saw him stomping and kicking allover the playground in these. When I was taking them off of him his feet were nice and dry. He asked if he could keep them! I can’t find anything to complain about. These were a success!

    Great Value

Bought for my son’s Scout snow trip. He spent 12+ hours in the snow before he took them off. Yes, his socks were wet. It happens. They weren’t dripping, but yes moisture had seeped thru. Not thru any defect or seam, but because he played rigorously in the snow for 12 hours. It’s like dunking them in pool for hours and expecting them to not be wet at all. His feet were never cold, he didn’t even notice the moisture until before bed when he took them off. They were comfortable for him, and kept him comfortable. That’s what mattered to me. If he had felt uncomfortably wet, cold, or the fit was bad… I would’ve been upset. He had a great trip, and that is definitely worth the more than the low cost. I know we could use them for a quick family snow day for a few hours and there probably wouldn’t even be a problem with excessive moisture. As far as fit, he’s 12, wears a size 5 in vans. I bought a 6 in the boot and it it fit him well with his double layered socks. No rubbing or blisters from being too big.

    Good value for good boots

I usually buy more expensive boots but we needed to replace a pair mid winter and they have already had a lot of use. My son loves them and they are good quality.

The sinch on the upper collar makes it easy to put the pant leg over or under

The fabric of the upper is itself waterproof but the seam where it joins the waterproof rubber bottom is not waterproof. I will be returning them for another model by the same brand that is “waterproof seam sealed”. I should have read more carefully. It is a well thought out design and seems extremely durable. The removable liner is convenient for sizing to the child’s foot and for drying out wet boots. It does not come out by accident when the kid just slips their foot in and out. The sinch on the upper collar makes it easy to put the pant leg over or under. We had a second problem where they’re too narrow on my child. We do occasionally buy wides for her which will be the next pair we get from Kamik. They work with thin socks which is fine since they seem so warm on their own. But with the water problem and the fit problem it is just not worth the hassle. Overall it seems like a good product if your puddles are not deeper than 2″. The “waterproof” upper will shed snow just fine, but not standing in super deep puddles. Try telling a 2 yo that!

We Do Not Buy Any Other Brand Now

I love Kamik cold weather boots for my kids, especially the Rocket version. I don’t shop for any other brands now, since I’ve tried a few, and these seem to always be superior. They can trudge through significant snow for hours during winter play, slosh through puddles, stomp through mud, and still keep my precious kiddos’ feet dry and warm through it all. It cinches at the top to seal their calves/ankles off from snow getting into their boots, and there is an adjustable strap to keep things nice and snug at the ankle. As soon as my older son outgrows a pair of them, my youngest inherits them, and no matter how rough they are on them, they always seem to look and clean up practically like new with minimal maintenance. If they can hold up against my really active kids with minimal wear and tear, then that is saying a lot! 🙂 These are worth every penny!I would also like to note that my youngest son has extra wide feet (we often special order his shoes), and these still fit him well.

Good solid boots for an active child

Bought these for my 8 year old grandson. They are well made boots, and much easier for him to take on and off than tie boots. I don’t know about your kids/grandkids, but mine hates tying and untying boot laces – he’s too impatient for that so he tries forcing them on and off. Also laces eventually get very tattered and you’re having to find the right length to replace them. The important thing about these boots, however is they are keeping his feet warm and dry and we have very wet, slushy weather that plays hard in.The only complaint I have – and it’s a big one – is that you can NOT find replacement liners for these, or any kid boots for that matter. Making them essentially disposable when the liners eventually wear out, which will happen well before the boots do. Disposable society – just toss and buy more… 🙁

He loves to wear it, and it keeps his feet warm

My 3 year old loves these boots. He was wearing a size 9 shoe, so we sized up to 10 for the boot, and it fits great with some room to spare. It’s easy for him to get on and off, and has held up well to a lot of mud and wet. The interior lining is removable, which was great for when he managed to soak the entire inside of the boot while stomping in puddles. The velcro strap is helpful for keeping the boot snug. The only downside is that, since there isn’t a zipper or anything, his pants often bunch up at the top of the boot. We’ve tried to teach him to push his pant legs down into the boot, but he complains because the bunching of the pants inside the boots hurts his legs after enough running around. For our relatively mild winters this isn’t a huge issue, but if you have really cold winters and your child is too young to independently get his pants tucked into the boot properly, this may not be for you.

    Very Happy. Great Boots.

I bought these boots for my twins. After reading a bunch of the reviews, I did size up one size and they fit perfectly. I agree with the other reviewers that they do run small and due to the lining, if you’ve got a kid with wide feet or a little one with pudgey feet, they will be diffficult to get on particularly if they are wearing a heavier sock. I will mention that, if you get them and are having a hard time getting them on, try a lighter sock. Ours slide right on and with the insulated lining you don’t really need a heavy sock and they will keep their feet warm. Our 3 year olds wore them at an ICE exhibit where the venue was kept at 9 degrees F. They were in there sliding on the ice slides and looking at all the Holiday sculptures for nearly and hour and their feet were toasty warm.I would highly recommend with the above caveats in mind. I will buy this brand again when they outgrow these boots!
