Does the trick
Purchased this USB “C” to “C” cable to transfer existing data to a new phone. When inserted, the data transfer screens opened automatically and recognize if there are files to be transferred. I was prompted on what files I wanted to be copied. Of course I can’t guarantee that you will have the same experience as I did based on your phone manufacturer but I was pleasantly surprised how easy this process was for transferring contacts, pictures, etc, between my old and new Motorola phones. Additionally, I didn’t have to go through the carrier backup process. I would recommend that you try this process BEFORE you activate a new phone to make sure it has been successful.

It’s a long, fast charger, however everytime i use it, both ends of the charger and the USB C block get really warm, which is something that doesn’t happen with regular cables.

Good length cable and great price – NOT very study
We bought this cable to charge my wife’s Lenovo laptop. She needed something that was longer than your average USB-C Cable (note, typical cables are 1 or 2 meters). So, when we found this, we thought it was an ideal solution! The good news: It does what it says it does – it charges her computer at normal speed (Note: this does not have fast charge capability). Also, in terms of price, you cannot beat this! The bad news: It’s only been a few months of use, and this thing looks beat up! As background, my wife usually coils the cable up at night and puts it in her purse for storage. She’s done this with several other cables, and no issue. However, on this cable, it’s become totally twisted and looks like it’s got knots and bumps all over! It looks awful! We’ve tried to untwist the cable, but it’s not working. Also, in one part, the cable sheath is fraying, potentially exposing wiring. So, bottom line, we’ve ditched the cable and gone with a braided cable, which is much more sturdy cable. I really like the Anker and Aukey cables. While they don’t have the same length, the benefit of those is that they are also higher speed, and can be used for data transfer, as well as charging!Bottom line, Amazon cables are usually a great deal, and while the price is good, the quality could be improved.

USB-IF listed and close to spec BUT not ideal for 60W
I bought this cable specifically because it was noted to be a USB-IF listed cable and documented to support 3A charging. The cable does *allow* 3A (60W) charging, however…I measured the resistance of the cable relative to the USB standards (for more information see the medium page from Benson Leung titled “What does it mean when a USB-C™ cable is rated at 3A?”). According to the specification, the wire resistance limit for supporting 3A/60W would be 0.166Ω for the voltage carrying line (Vbus/Vcc) and 0.0833Ω for the ground line.Fortunately, the value I measured for the 9 foot cable’s ground line was under the 0.0833Ω limit, being 0.05Ω.Unfortunately, the value I measured for this cable’s voltage carrying line was over the 0.166Ω limit at 0.227Ω. This would suggest that optimally (to keep the amount of voltage drop over the cable within the spec) this cable should be carrying no more than about 2.2A of current. That would make this cable optimal for something like a 45W load, but technically out of spec for a 60W load. The end result for any users connecting a 60W load would likely be slowed charging at maximum load.I would contrast this 9-foot cable’s performance with
a shorter Amazon Basics cable
whose measured resistances are both well below the limits documented above ( 0.158Ω for the voltage carrying line (Vbus/Vcc) and 0.06Ω for the ground line). Achieving such values are easier for a shorter cable, but I also have a USB-IF listed 8-foot cable purchased at a big box store which also manages to be within the 3A spec (in other words, an 8 foot cable with resistance values both below those listed for the spec above).I measured the resistance values using a USB-C breakout to facilitate separate measurement of the ground and voltage lines. However, the issue I’m describing is visible using simple meters like the ones I’ve attached in the pictures. A cable that is in spec for 3A/60W power delivery should cause no more than 0.50V drop (i.e. – 500 mV) across the cable. At 1.65A the 1-foot cable is causing a mere 0.20V drop, suggesting that at 3A the voltage drop would still be well under 0.50V (at around 0.36V using V=IR to solve for the value of R with the initial measurements, then substituting in the value of R determined for the cable and 3 for the value of I). A similarly small drop is experienced over my big box store’s 8-foot cable (the black cable in the photos), suggesting it is also within spec for a 3A cable. However, notice that for the white 9-foot cable the voltage drop at a similar 1.66A is 0.28V. That would estimate the voltage drop for a 3A load just over the 0.50V limit at around 0.51V. That is very close to the spec, suggesting this cable isn’t broken or non-functional, but consider that the higher voltage drop of this cable is basically power that would never make it to your charging device.

Durable, Convenient, Tiny, Cables
I like using short cables for either by bed side table (with a semi-permanent charging station setup) or for traveling. I don’t like taking a ton of long cables with me on the airplane or in the hotel room, as they generally make a mess. These cables were just what I was looking for. My iPad Pro requires a Type-C connector, so i could not use my also short lightening cables. I ordered these and they hit the spot. They are the same length as my other short charging cables and will charge up my iPad just fine and seem above average or just about average in terms of charging speed / strength (not sure how to compare to other cables – as they just seem to work). In terms of durability and apparent ability to last a long time (not separate, or fray) these seem to shine. The cables themselves seem pretty thick and able to take a bit of a beating. You can coil them up and toss them in a bag or pocket over and over and I think they will last a long time. The connection between the cable and the Type-C connector also seems tight, and durable. At this point I am not worried about the cables falling apart during or after frequent usage at home and traveling. I suspect I could use them repeatedly for a few years and they should last. Unlike some of the thin lightening cables and micro USB type cables that I have – some of those have not lasted more than a few months before falling apart.

AmazonBasics USB 2.0 C-to-C line (3ft, 6ft, 9ft, 0.5ft) are excellent USB-IF certified cables
Benson here again with a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable review. Today I am reviewing AmazonBasics USB 2.0 C-to-C cables, in all four lengths of 0.5ft, 3ft, 6ft, and 9ft.These cables are not a legacy USB cables like the majority of my previously reviewed products. Instead, these are pure C-to-C cables meant to be used with newer accessories such as Type-C chargers, or to connect Type-C phones to Type-C laptops. These are USB 2.0 Type-C cables, meaning that they only support USB 2.0 data, and are not appropriate for consumers looking for a cable to connect their laptop to a Type-C monitor or docking station for video out, or to connect to SuperSpeed USB 3.1 devices such as external HDD or SSDs. However, these should still be a good charging cables, though, at up to 60W.*Advanced Cable Tester Results*I am using Total Phase’s Advanced Cable Tester, which does easy cable testing in three critical areas:* continuity – checks that every pin on the cable is connected where it’s supposed to, not connected to where it’s not* DC Resistance – checks to see if this cable is within spec for IR Drop (Section 4.4.1 of the Type-C spec) for charging performance* Signal integrity – checks the USB 2.0 data lines can perform at 480mbps.Quick summary of results from the tester:Continuity- All four cables passed continuity, meaning all have the right number of wires, and they all go where they are supposed to.DC Resistance-9ft cable: Vbus 108.78 mΩ, Gnd 50.10 mΩ6ft cable: Vbus 117.12 mΩ, Gnd 59.15 mΩ3ft cable: Vbus 91.71 mΩ, Gnd 45.59 mΩ0.5ft cable : Vbus 27.23 mΩ, Gnd 35.86 mΩMaximum allowed values for Vbus and Gnd are 167mΩ and 83.3mΩ respectively, so all four cables comfortably meet the DC resistance requirement. These cables will not cause excessively slow charging.Signal Integrity- All four cables passed High speed signal integrity, meaning they will perform well at USB 2.0 speeds.*USB-IF Certification*Amazon advertises these cables are USB-IF Certified compliant for USB 2.0. Let’s cross reference from USB’s official cable PDF.B01LONPUM4 – 6 inch cable. TID 210,000,202B01GGKYZQM – 3ft cable. TID 210,000,201B01GGKZ1VA – 6ft cable. TID 210,000,200B01GGKZ3MM – 9ft cable. TID 210,000,199These part numbers are pulled directly from USB’s spreadsheet, and they match the Amazon’s ASINs for these 4 cables. Therefore, I conclude that these cables are certified compliant by USB-IF, as Amazon advertises.*Functional Testing*For functional testing, I have tested charging my Chromebook Pixel 2015 with Apple’s 87W USB-C power adapter:
Apple MNF82LL/A 87W USB-C Power Adapter
Since the AmazonBasics cables only support 3A, I expect that the Apple 87W adapter will only offer 60W to my Chromebook Pixel. In my testing, all four cables successfully charge the laptop at 60W with no problems using USB Power Delivery. I will post my more detailed data in the comments to keep this review more concise.I also performed a quick test of USB 2.0 data capabilities by connecting my Nexus 5X phone (a USB 2.0 phone) to the Chromebook Pixel using all four cables. In each case, the phone could be put into MTP mode and large file transfer was successful. For other more subjective judgements of this cable : AmazonBasics USB-C cables are in line with the rest of AmazonBasics cables; they’re good quality, thin and flexible, at all lengths. The longer cables get more and more stiff and thick as they use larger gauge wire in order to meet performance requirements, so expect the 6ft and 9ft cables to be a fair bit thicker than the 3ft. The connectors on both ends are deep-draw extruded Type-C plugs, which put them on par with higher end cables from Apple and Google.*Conclusion*AmazonBasics USB-C to USB-C 2.0 cables are excellent charging and high-speed data (up to 480mbps) cables. My testing shows they can handle high voltage high power charging up to 60W easily. I am pleased to see that Amazon is jumping into the ecosystem with a compliant and good offering. This is a no brainer for folks with Nexus 5X/6P, Pixel, Pixel XL, Chromebook, or MacBook users looking for an affordable spare cable at various lengths.

AmazonBasics cables are some of the best you can find
Amazon doesn’t have to spend money on hyping these cables, they must have put that money in to the quality. AmazonBasics cables always work, I’ve found. You can rely on them, they are also not ostentatious nor presumptuous cables, and fit in everywhere, and look swell.

Super durable and perfect fit
I’ve boughten several of these USB cables (the older design) and they are super durable! The first one I bought lasted me almost 3 phones (all Pixel phones) before the cable sheath started to pull back from the connection. Not a bad investment considering it’s lasted me about 4 years. The USB C Connection though is why I can’t recommend these cables enough (I only use them for charging purposes and small data transfers). When these cables lock into the USB C on my phones, no other cable/brand has come close to the precise fit and how well it locks into the port. So many other USB C cables I’ve boghten over the years have a really poor fit and will pop out of the port with next to no force applied. These cables however stay locked in and it has to be an intentional pull on the cable before it comes out of my phone. The connection ends are also nice and slim so I’ve never had any issues with them plugging into my phone through all the cases I’ve had over the years. I can’t recommend these cables enough!
