    Wife can’t bathe without it

Such a solid enhancement to her bathroom experience. Gives me plenty of time to work in the garage and out in the yard without interruption. Would put two in there if I could

    big fan 2 thumbs up

giving this 3 stars because I tried 2 different wine glasses and neither fit in the space provided and it was the main reason I ordered this particular bathtub caddy. I am keeping however because a champagne flute I had fit so I can take a glass of wine in the tub, even if the glass is not an ACTUAL wine glass. love the rubber over the metal and it fit perfectly on my claw foot tub, seems sturdy enoughThe pics of the glasses that wouldn’t fit were pushed in as far as I could push them before I took the picture, the pic of the champagne flute shows how it was the only one to slide in all the way and the caddy was able to safely hold THAT glass!updated to 5 stars for the following:found a glass to fit in the wine holder just took a bit of shopping/searching not all glasses are equallove the fact that it is not made of metal(so no water spots or possibility of rusting) really loving the bamboo, and what metal parts there are have a vinyl coating to protect the tubwarning: put the thing toward the end of the tub away from you if you sit up your knees might hit it and knock everything off. has nothing to do with the product itself just a personal note :)also love that i can (VERY GENTLY) rest my foot on it while i shave my legs. DO NOT put your full weight it will not hold and is not intended for this use, but i’m a grown up and it has made shaving a bit easier for me

First one was roughly cut, replacement looks good

I don’t have one ledge of my bathtub because there is a shower door runner there, however, there is a small lip under the door track where the metal arm of this tray fits perfectly. I do wish there was a bit of a lip to the tray, so things don’t fall off, but overall, it’s a good weight and has the right grooves to prop my book or phone.I do mention that the first tray I received had splinters everywhere, and was extremely roughly cut or finished. I got a replacement and the new one is great.I do wish the arms retracted more for storage, and that at least one edge was flat, so the tray could be stored on it’s side on a shelf.

    Not Clean

I bought this item used and expected they would at least take the time to clean it, but it was kind of gross and had a sticky grime on the metal arms…it works perfectly fine, just not clean

    Buy this! Quality product!

Very nicely made product, sturdy, and quality wood. No sharp/pointy edges. VERY easy to put together and not overly showy or complicated. It had all the features that I needed. Also, it would fit a far smaller or bigger tub than this, very adjustable. Far better than I expected! Primarily use mine for holding iPad/phone for Netflix/streaming or reading. Doesn’t hold a paperback book well, but probably would hold hardback better. Will hold a kindle!

    Classy and it fits

I love that I can have something steady to fit over my garden tub so I have a place for my books on it to read. I am still nervous about setting my ipad up against the metal frame and leaving it there and just thumbing myself along with the pages so I place my ipad flat while I read and I no longer have to hold it. There are the different grooves on the bases so I can angel my reader while it is leaning up against the metal frame but I am just a bit nervous about me knocking my ipad into the tub right now for me even to consider using the tall arm. I am not so sure about the place for the drinks as I am not drinking while reading in the tub. I guess time will tell as I get comfortable with this but I love that it is long enough to fit over my garden tub as I was using a white-metal covered closet organizer before and it was bulky and not too pretty.

The best thing for tub time since bath bombs

I love this. I’m really not a bath person but sometimes they’re necessary for sore muscles, and I love that this lets me distract myself while I’m in the bath without worrying about dropping my book or phone into the water. My bath is against a wall and has a very slim lip (less than an inch) on one side, and this tray has never felt unstable or slipped. My only complaint (and the reason for four stars rather than five) is how shallow the wine glass slot is. I have pretty flat-based glasses, and they still don’t fit. It’s not a huge problem — I just rest my glass in the circular indent instead — but it is something they could improve.Otherwise, this is a great product. I’ve had it for a few months and it’s easy to clean and hasn’t shown any signs of water damage. I store it on a shelf next to my bathtub and wipe it down with a damp cloth before and after using it.

    It’s worth it !

I had purchased a different one – it fell apart when I took it out of the box. This one definitely is very sturdy – I means seriously you are putting a Book – phone or glass on it – it MUST be sturdy – It also just looks great. So happy – I can drink my wine and read my kindle. PERFECT

Great for larger tubs but not for 8″ tablets!

I have a standard-sized Jacuzzi tub (and at it’s widest is 35 inches) and the extendable arms fit the caddy just fine (see my photo). I will enjoy many nights using this caddy!! I didn’t give this product 5 stars because although it can clearly fit a large book as shown in the product ad, the support arm doesn’t hold smaller books like paperback novel. Nor does it support android tablet (8″) while it’s turned horizontally…it will only support it vertically. I was concerned about using a tablet with this product, however, it will NOT fall through the slits on the top of the caddy…doesn’t fit. I could probably move it over to the left or right to be supported only on one side if I really wanted to view the screen horizontally, but I’m fearful of it falling in the water that way. An iPad (10″ screen) is supported both vertically and horizontally. So, the last star is not earned because I think the support arm should be adjustable.

    Very sturdy, great for netbook!

While I accept no responsibility if you end up dunking your electronics, I can say that I have regularly (for perhaps a year) used this shelf to support my netbook, or my iPod Touch. This makes it great for reading the paper or enjoying a game while soaking in the bath. To be extra safe, only use it with electronics that have some anti-slip thing on the bottom, as the shelf’s surface is very smooth. I have a silicone grip case on my iPod, for instance, and there are little rubber feet on the bottom of my netbook.I do recommend you store the shelf in a way where it won’t fall over. I leaned it against the tub one day and it fell when I brushed it with my foot. It fell on my foot, and it’s fairly heavy wood, so that hurt, and I broke a tiny bit of wood off near where the wine glass sides in. Not the fault of the shelf at all, totally my own carelessness, but felt I should pass along this word of warning to others! :)I highly recommend this shelf. It’s the best such bath accessory I’ve purchased over the years, and I suspect I’ll have it for years and years to come.

    AWESOME Spa accessory!

Quality is absolutely 5+ stars – The picture doesn’t do it justice. It’s quite heavy – bamboo shelf is 1 1/4″ thick (5 layers of bamboo beautifully compressed and finished). Other reviewers mentioned using their Kindle, iPad, or similar, and I thought “no way.” But this is made so extremely well, I can now understand their comfort in using electronics in the tub. (Not sure if I will, but this is obviously a personal choice.) Three slots on the caddy allow different angles for the book or device. The chrome handles that sit on the tub are coated with an invisible non-skid material (silicone?) so the caddy doesn’t slide when edges get wet. One note: The packing material suggests storing the caddy on end so water will drain out of the grooves, rather than keeping it in the tub; just fyi. p.s. I’m waiting for my fearless water-loving feline to realize she can use this as a bridge over the tub. 🙂

A bath, a book, and a beverage or two!

Oh My Goodness, what would I do without sublime bath time? I LOVE my jacuzzi tub and had longed for the luxury of a book/beverage rest to make my bliss complete! While not perfect, this does a good job. Improvements I’d like to see: Sturdier expansion arms along with a “position locking” mechanism. My tub is Wide, and while the Umbra is more than adequately sized, the wires pull completely out of the tray. The book rest is sturdy but, an additional “lip” to weight/hold the open pages back would be wonderful AND could also secure an iPad for those brave enough to go there. There is a wine glass holder on the right and another ventilated cup indention for two fisted drinkers or ones peeled grapes and cheese. All in all pretty good item!

I have now used this in three of my baths and it has been amazing. It is very sturdy

I have had my eye on this item for a few years now, but I have never got up the motivation to spend the money on it. $50 for a shelf for your bathtub? Really? But, I have now used this in three of my baths and it has been amazing. It is very sturdy, the handles adjust to fit in any normal sized tub in an apartment or a house, and it has everything you could possibly need in one easy shelf. My one gripe is that you can’t really adjust the book stand to be able to fit a kindle on it’s side, but it is a small gripe that I fix by having the kindle lean up against the faucet, which is where this shelf fit’s anyway, so I don’t have to make any special accommodations for that.Seriously. If you love a good bath, one with oils, epsom salts, candles and wine, get the shelf. You deserve it!

Great for students who study in the tub

I have had this bathtub caddy for 6 months now and use it quite regularly. When I use it, it stays securely on the edges of my standard bathtub and keeps my books dry. I use it to hold textbooks, flashcards, pens, etc. so that I can study in the tub when I need to relax but really don’t have the time. After 6 months of regular use the caddy still looks as good as new. I see no rusting of the metal bars or damage to the bamboo. It also holds my books securely and keeps all of my items dry (as long as I don’t accidentally drop something of course). I particularly like the recessed area on the right side of the caddy. I use that area to secure my flashcards when I am not using them. You can’t tell this from the picture but that pocket on the right is large enough to hold a stack of standard index cards. You slide them in horizontally from the front of the caddy and the U-Shaped wood over top of the pocket holds the cards in place.

    Beautiful and fits large tubs

This just arrived in the mail, and I set it up on our large, jacuzzi-style bathtub. It’s really a beautiful piece (something I never thought I’d say about a bathroom caddy), and the wood is lovely. I had worried that it would be too dark for our lavender-and-white bathroom, but it’s a soft, muted color that should work well in any color of bathroom. The Umbra caddy was also one of the few caddies I found that would work with a larger, jacuzzi-style tub. While the 42″ of extension won’t let me expand it along the widest part of the tub, I can expand it along one of the smaller ends and also place it along the armrests in the middle of the tub. In other words, it’s very versatile. The instructions say to be sure to wipe it down (including all the holes and crevices) after each use.I will be sure to update my review after I’ve had this a bit longer.

    Perfect!

My boyfriend and I are both bath fanatics. It is one of our favorite places to relax and he especially loves to study in there (he is in medical school and studies nonstop). He use to just fill the bath a third or halfway full (so the book wouldn’t get wet) and prop a textbook on his knees. I bought this for him as part of his birthday present and we absolutely loves it. It is even strong enough to hold his textbooks propped up and he can actually fill the bath to a normal level and not have to worry. We have a bath/shower combo with only about 1.5″ of lip on the side against the wall and it still holds up very securely. He even uses his macbook air on it with no concern. I love it as well just for reading. Needless to say this has been a bath time game-changer!

it’s as good as it looks

Umbra take me away! Do yourself a favor and get one of these, it’s as good as it looks! The non-slip handles ensure it does not move around or slip off. I use a Kindle in a case which I just sit on top, so the horizontal holes are less important to me, but be careful if you do not have a case on your Kindle, it could slip through the holes easily. For what it’s worth, I also have shower doors on my standard size tub and this works just fine with them. The only thing worth mentioning there is that you have to get in the tub first and then put the caddy on because of the clearance with the shower door. No biggie to me. Very happy with this purchase and you will be too.

Perfect for reading in the tub

We redid our bathroom and installed a deeper soaker type tub great for relaxing with a good book on the ipad. This caddy is really good looking. I love the bamboo. I remove the flip cover from the ipad so it sits more stably in the grooves and against the stand. Just wish the metal “stand” part the ipad leans against had several lock-in positions for a better reading angle as it slants a little too far back, but I can live with it. Also could do without the slide in glass holder that I don’t use and has a pointy edge that pokes the inside of my forearm and gets annoying when holding the ipad after a while. (Which usually means I should get out of the tub anyway.) But overall, it does the job.

    Awesome tray!

Awesome accessory for the perfect bath experience. This is my second tray. I liked the padded chrome extensions. It was easy to put together and very sturdy. I tested a wine glass and it worked well. However I like to use mason jar glasses that you will see in my pictures. Another reason that I like this tray is for the double bars to hold your kindle. It was very easy to read my book and it felt secure. I have had this tub for a few months and I finally have the best tray and pillow for me.

    Perfect for the price.

Pro:The metal on either side is covered in a clear plastic that holds onto the tub very well.BeautifulBook holder/book slotsCon:The entire left side is useless if you don’t plan on having a glass of wine.Still have to hold open the book with one handThe spot for wine has pointed edges where I want to rest my arm for holding open the book. I end up with bruises and scratches on my arm if I’m lazy about it.It’s wood- the moisture is going to ruin it if you splash water all over it. Not sure what use the soap bar is on this. It does make a great drink holder for drinks not in a wine glass.Overall:I’m not returning it, and no one could pry this away from me.

It’s great. Easy to put together. Easy to use. Adjustable width. Rests easily and sturdily across my tub. Holds my wine, phone, a book and candle with no problem. Will even hold my rather heavy Bluetooth speaker. Very happy with my purchase. I’d definitely buy it again.

    Fits great

This fits my tub great but I worried that it would slip, on one side, into the tub since my tub is egg shaped and the side next to the wall is about 2 inches wide. So to make sure it didn’t slip off one side of the tub I added rubber bands to the end of the metal so it would grip the tub.

    Has lasted over ten years!

I was looking back at some of the items I bought years ago to see which ones stood the test of time. This one was definitely one of them. This piece has enjoyed many a bath and made that bath time so much more luxurious! To stretch it across the tub and anticipate enjoying a good book and/or glass of wine feels so decadent! One of my favorite purchases of all time!

    Wasted packing material

I love the product! Being the eco-friendly crazy I am, I was delighted to find a bamboo bathtub caddy. It is perfect for any bathtub (normal sizes) when you want to read a book or drink a glass of wine. It is very sturdy and adjustable.Unfortunately whoever was shipping this item decided to put it into a huge box with brown paper, which was all a waste because the product was in its own box when I pulled it out. This item could have been shipped in its original box without wasting a box and packing material. This upsets me, I / we should have an option to ship in original box! What a waste….

    I like how this expands

I like how this expands. I have a very big tub, and it fits. I like that I can read, then take my glasses off and set them on the caddy while I blot the moisture off my face from a long bath. I use an Intuition razor so it doesn’t fit in the razor slot, but it fits in the soap dish. As far as the “slots” in the back, I don’t really use them because I’d have to reach over the shelf to get what I need and I would drip water on the book I have leaned against the easel. It held my wine glass up perfectly. I can now lock myself in the bathroom and study without being interrupted by the family.

    Love it but not perfect

I use this almost daily since I got it for Mother’s Day. I have an iPad mini and it can stand up vertically but not horizontally It’s only a problem if I want to watch Netflix in the bath. I love having a place to put my wine glass! Not all my glasses fit though, it needs a very thin bottom to be able to slide in. Some of my glasses taper up to the stem too much to be able to fit. The taper makes it too thick. Overall, I love it and would buy it again.

I love this. I was worried I didn’t have enough tub near the wall to prop it but it fits fine. Only issue I have is it is hard for me to store it when not in use but that’s not really a problem.

    Good bath caddy

The caddy is made of quality material and the bamboo does not feel cheep. Fits any size wine glass and chrome bars extend to fit my wide tub. It would be nice to have little clips or arms to hold the pages of the book while using the book rest to prevent pages from flipping.I would leave the caddy on the tub while showering and the caddy was continually getting wet and drying out. I believe because of this, the top layer of bamboo had split open (Able to still use to it’s full functionality). Be sure to keep this caddy dry when not using for a bath.

Came to order another as a gift and thought I would review after 9 years! Still my favorite. Chrome is still shiny, bamboo is clean, smooth and hasn’t warped. Easily assembled and disassembled. Has fit all my bathtubs after each move over the years and stayed functional and stylish. Treat yourself and buy this!

    WORKS FOR ME, WITH ADAPTATIONS

I ordered this one and a smaller, lighter one I found online at Brookstone to compare, fully intending to return one of them. Well. Although I prefer the shape and size of the one from Brookstone, the arms were just too flimsy when stretched across my wide tub, making it unstable. But, I much preferred it’s book-rest style – it has a crossbar about halfway up, to hold smaller books (and my Kindle). Long story short, I flipped the Umbra base over (I don’t use the wine-glass holder or cup holder anyway) and adapted the book rest from the Brookstone caddy to the bottom side of the Umbra (making it the top), and now have a near-perfect bathtub caddy. I may have a use for the Brookstone one in the future, as we’ll be moving soon and I might not have the luxury of my big soaking tub anymore, so not a total loss on that one. I really wish I had woodworking equipment; I think it would be fairly simple (and quite gratifying) to design a custom tub caddy.

    Excellent

We bought two of these last Christmas. Actually, one was bought for our daughter and once it came and my wife saw it, she said that she had to have one for herself. That alone should be the best recommendation and “wordless review”; but Amazon won’t allow that so I’ll add to it. The caddy is constructed from quality bamboo and, in my opinion, should last a long time. It has a great slide/slot for holding a wine glass on the right hand side. The left side is a perforated (for drainage) depression with I assume could be for soap, bath oil or anything else that you might handle with wet hands. The middle has slots for drainage and a metal support on the back. It works well for books and could be used for a table to ebook if you’re brave enough. I don’t mean there might be a problem with it failing, but people have been known to fall asleep and knock stuff into the water. On both sides of the caddy are adjustable supports that extend to either side and hold the caddy in place. They are adequate for wide or narrow tubs.

A must have for you bath lovers!

Ok so I shopped around quite a bit looking to make my bath a little more enjoyable and relaxing….what I found was there were not a lot of stuff out there for bathtubs and the stuff I did find was poor quality, not useful, uncomfortable, UGLY and the list goes on. I wanted my bath time to be in luxury with things that made it wonderful and enjoyable. I found this Umbra Aquala Bamboo and Chrome Bathtub Caddy and tried it out. Mind you, I had already tried two bath caddy’s – one was a chrome one and the other was a bamboo one but made from a different company. THIS bath caddy is ” ‘da bomb” as my stepson would say! It is very well made; the wood is much thicker and sturdier than the previous one I had purchased. The book set up works great for paper back books and hard back books. I am itching to get a iPad or Nook to read books now that I have this! The sides slide in/out to fit most tubs and the wine holder….ahhh – need I say more. I would rate this product 6 stars – a must have :0)

    Seems well made

To be honest this doesn’t work well in my bathtub – the inside wall slopes just barely too much into the edge of the tub for one side of the caddy to remain stable on – but I was happy enough with the quality that I decided to keep it because we will be moving fairly soon. It’s not the fault of the product, my shower is just not very compatible. I have to rig it up a little differently but I can still use and enjoy it. I know it will be perfect for another tub.

    This is just okay

I take a bath most nights and I nearly always read and drink hot tea or wine while I lay in the tub so I’ve been keeping my eye out for something like this for a while. It looks nice and it’s adjustable but it just barely fits my tub – if my bathtub were an inch wider the caddy would be too small. Since it just barely fits it is a bit wobbly but it has never fallen or spilled it’s contents so it’s been good so far. What I’m not crazy about is that the slats that are meant to hold a book are not just grooves but actual holes so while they are fine for a book or magazine you can’t put anything like a kindle or an ipad in there or it would slide right through into the bath. That was a bit disappointing because I use both my kindle and ipad in the bath and it would have been nice to be able to prop them up on this bath caddy. Also, the metal stand that flips up to hold the back of a book falls back down frequently so if you take your book off the metal rod will fall and you’ll have to put it back up…. it’s all a bit awkward. I spend more time fussing with this thing trying to get it right so I can use it than I do just lying in the tub reading and sipping on wine while thinking, “how I do love my bamboo bath caddy.”Bottom line: it’s better than nothing but don’t expect too much.

It’s a good product except one flaw

It fits on the bathtub really well. This is a good option if you have a bathtub that is a bit wider and yet has good support so it doesn’t fall. The flaw I found is with the tablet stand. It is easy to move so if you just knock into your bath caddy a bit you might have issues with the stand just falling over. So just wish that was a bit stronger just in case. But overall this definitely does the job and it seems strong, just have to be careful to not knock into it.

    It depends.

This is a nice-looking, solid product, not overpriced. That said, its functionality depends on the type of tub and reading material. We have a big jacuzzi-style tub in the master bath and while the arms do expand wide enough to use it at any point in the tub (great feature), the design does keep the tray right at the top so for deeper baths like this one it ends up being too high for comfortable use as a reading stand. This might be fine for a magazine, as the design would hold the whole thing in place, but reading a 1.5″ thick hardback book I found that I still had to manually hold the book open. Keeping my arms raised at shoulder level the whole time isn’t exactly relaxing! This may not be a problem for someone over 6′ tall, but at 5’4″ it rules out this reading material/tub combination. We do have a standard-sized tub in a second bathroom, and I think it would be at just the right height there. Bottom line: a good buy for most situations, but not one-size-fits-all.

Great for tubs with a shallow lip!

Very excited to have found this caddy! I didn’t think I would be able to have one because the lip of the tub is so shallow on the far side – only about an inch. This caddy seems very sturdy, I’d venture to say that I’d even trust setting electronics on it. I probably won’t because I’m super clumsy and I’m sure by fault of my own, said electronic would end up in the tub. But I’m very much looking forward to using this! Love the slots for a wine glass, scrubbers, and candle or cup holder!

    Great Caddy for the Tub!

I really love this caddy and it fits well in the tub and does not slide around with the rubber covering on the wire ends. The book holder I use for my kindle and it fits and works great but you really have to be careful with electronics. I also have used this with a candle and drink which is very stable for this use also. My air tub is my de-stressor and I bath in it regularly. The only thing I would have liked was for the caddy design to somehow not allow the wire on the two ends to pull out completely and for that reason I took a star away. When you store it on it’s side long way up the wire falls out.

Great for keeping that iPad out of the water

We purchased an iPad recently and my wife loves it. She was taking it into the bathtub, but we were both afraid that dropping it would be a costly mistake. So 40 bucks on this seemed a good investment. The product is solid and reasonably elegant. The wine glass holder is perfect, holds a glass down securely. Books prop up nicely. For the iPad it works wonderfully. Some reviewers worried an iPad might slip through the slits, but I don’t even see how that is possible when you usually tilt it at an angle. Either way in our case we have the iPad 2 with a smart cover, when folded up into a stand it works perfectly for games and tv viewing.Big thumbs up for this product as iPad insurance.

    Lovely and Helpful

I have a very small lip on one side of my tub due to tiles – but this holds on well. One side of the caddy for my tea/coffee/regular cup – and the other side for my glass of wine:) The reason for only 4 stars? The place for the book is just a LITTLE too small. It is almost (but not quite) big enough for a IPAD – Instead I have to put the IPAD in a little crooked so I can watch an episode of a tv show while I soak:) It would be perfect if I didn’t have to watch tv a little crooked:)-

    great fit

Gave this as a gift to my friend who just got a soaker tub installed. She loves it except that the book/tablet holder part leans too far back so she is having to find a way to make it hold more straight up as she is leaning back in the tub. Also she is left handed so her wine glass is in the soap dish area and not in the slot made for it. Other than that- the adjustable sides are coated with a silicone so that they stay in place and protect the tub.

Look no further … This product is awesome

I recently moved and my new place has a large Japanese soaking tub. My main issue with my new tub was where do I put the soap, the razor… And most importantly the wine! I searched online for awhile and decided to get this. It arrived the very next day … It’s very classy looking. It’s an immediate hit when I’m showing my new place to friends … they all want to buy one. The wine holder is fantastic! You won’t have to worry about your wine glass tipping over into your tub. It’s very secure in it’s slot. The grooves on it with the book stand is essential … Otherwise it would be difficult to keep the book open and secure. I just love this product!

It was exactly what I wanted and looked for

I recently bought the bath caddy, because I love long soaking baths and I’m a reader as well. I researched and found for the price and the book stand that was already attached(did not have to buy separately) this was the best buy for the money I was willing to spend. I would recommend this product to others and I have to my friends. It’s nice to sit in the tub with a good book and a glass of my favorite wine as well. I do use thin rubber bands to hold a paperback in place though. I’ve not used it reading a hard cover or magazine. I anticipate many years of having my caddy by following the directions of wiping it off and storing it away when no in use.

    Beautiful addition to any bath

I LOVE this bathtub tray! It’s a stunning piece and is well worth a little extra for the wood. The metal chrome trays just don’t have the added beauty that this bamboo tray has. The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is the price. It is a little spendy for a bath tray, but it’s quickly becoming worth it. It is adjustable and easily fit our garden jet tub. It even has 3 spots behind the book holder, to hold things such as a razor and a loofah, etc. The other thing that I really like is that the soap holder has holes in it to let the soap bar breath and dry out after use. I’m incredibly pleased!

    it works well

I have a narrower metal grid caddy that works ok, but the book and papers are at risk for a fall into the water. This caddy has sufficient space to put a book or sheaf of papers, with little concern that they will fall. The metal arms are coated with plastic, so they don’t slide easily. The weight of the wood also helps keep stuff from tumbling. If really careful one could potential seat a laptop on it.I don’t know about the long term viability of the wood. Someone else wrote that it cracked quickly. But if someone uses it for work inside the bathtub, then it is likely to stay dry and not crack.

    Excellent – Almost

I love relaxing in the tub with a glass of wine and a good book. My daughter swears she can tell which pages I read while bathing because those pages, when opened, emit a whiff of my bath oil. My only possible addition would be some sort of device to keep larger books and paperbacks open. Otherwise, it looks great, is stable, fits my tub, folds and stores easily, and has that lovely wineglass holder. It is worth the extra money to choose this caddy over the metal ones. I am just hoping that the bamboo lasts.

    Bathtime is so much funner

I love this bath caddy. I looked at others, but because it is adjustable (and my bath is big) and holds the all-important wine glass, I chose this and haven’t been disappointed. To honest, I’m not sure if the book holder would actually support a book, but I use my ipad in the bath and it stands up well. It’s ageing quite well (not as shiny is it was over a year ago when I bought my first (this second purchase was a gift after my sister coveted mine) but still standing up to the bathroom atmosphere well. The bamboo is a sustainable material which goes will in my bathroom where I have other wood tones. I would highly recommend this bath caddy.

    Beautiful and functional

Just bought this item and tried it out the first night. Simple as pie to figure out, and although you can’t see it in the picture, there is a clear rubberized coating on the metal arms to ensure that the caddy stays in place. It is a smidge more expensive than other caddies, but it is sturdily constructed and looks great. Quality and looks – can’t beat that. The first thing I noticed is that the caddy is secure, it’s beautiful in almost any decor, and works well. I even pushed down a little on it to see how strong it was and it didn’t budge. I used it with my Kindle (put it in a ziploc bag first! Kindles don’t like water!) and although the angle was a little steep, it was definitely workable. I didn’t do a glass of wine, but a cup fits perfectly on the left side. Yeah, I know that’s for the soap, but it was great for a glass of soda! I used the wine glass side to hold my chocolate! I didn’t feel that it would tip over or that any of my precious items (Kindle, chocolate, drink – in that order) were in danger of falling into the drink. My only criticism – and this is SUCH a minor gripe – is that I wish the arms on either side would lock in place, because when you move the caddy out of the bathtub, the arms tend to slide out and it can be a little cumbersome to move it from place to place. Otherwise I am thrilled with this purchase.I looked at the rack-type caddies, and was really thinking about getting those. But for $10 more, I think I made the right decision!

    Well-designed.

This tray ‘just works’ like you expect for book reading, without the anxiety that a cheaper tray brings. It seems like the product’s designers used it and made sure it works like you’d want it to.(Background: I had used a cheaper wire-framed tray that cost around $20. It was fine for holding a soap dish, but too unstable for books. A couple of times, I dunked my books after tapping that tray with my knee or elbow.)Pros:-Sturdy and heavy — the protruding metal hooks are solid, with little ‘play’ between it and the caddy base (besides sliding in and out or up and down as needed). This alone is worth the $50 price. With cheaper trays, all the wiggling and bending of the protruding hooks make everything less secure, so that a slight knock from your knee sends your book into the water.-The rubber coating of the metal hooks forms a nice high-friction contact with the bathtub wall. This reduces slippage (another annoyance with the cheaper trays) and makes the caddy more sturdy and secure.-Only an inch in height. This allows you increase the water level without the bottom of the tray touching water, higher than you could get with a deeper tray.-The book holder works. It holds up magazines and hardcover books, and they don’t want to fall down.-The wine glass holder actually works! Wasn’t expecting much here, but it actually holds stemmed glasses securely. (Note: it won’t hold stemmed glasses with bases wider than 3 and 3/4 inches.)-Attractive. This doesn’t really come out in the pictures, but in person it looks nice.Cons:-Expensive, at least compared to the $10 or $20 wire caddies.-May require maintenance, given that it’s made of wood. (Note: a year and a half after purchase, and with no maintenance on my part, it still looks new. No signs of aging, cracking, or splitting.)-If you have a very deep tub (e.g. a clawfoot with high walls), this caddy may rest too high on the walls for book reading.

Great tray for my new soaker tub!

My previous tub tray was made of bamboo & it fell apart from the moisture! My new tray holds my iPad Mini so I can watch a video while relaxing with a glass of wine by candle light! The tray has custom slots for a wine glass, razor, scrubby, candle, & the adjustable backing for a book, iPad is all you beed for a nice long soak. I recommend this tray 100%!

Perfect for everything! (Except for phones)

These are very nice quality and well thought out. Before buying, I was worried about how high the stand is, and if the metal would scratch my bathtub surface or if it would slip. Luckily, it has a thin clear rubber coating around the metal parts that touch the bathtub. The stand is smaller than it looks but very sturdy. There are holes everywhere for drainage, especially in the candle/soap holder. But BEWARE. The slots that keep your book, ereader, or tablet from slipping are too thick for most phones now. At first, I made sure to keep my phone in the same slot as something else while I used it to chat with friends or watch Netflix but then I got too relaxed and offhandedly put it on the caddy only for it to fall straight through into the water.Pros: relaxing and thoughtful enough for me to get to that pointCons: slots too big for modern phones and you could accidentally pull the metal sliders out too far if not careful.

    Bath Time Perfection

Soaking in a hot bath has been great relief for me before and after recent surgery. This bathtub caddy is wonderful as it gives me a great place to set my coffee, my phone and my iPad mini, the back bar is a bit high for my mini but with a small computer pillow it holds it securely. The grips that hold the caddy in place are good quality and even when I try to make it move, it sits securely in place. My bathtub edge near the wall is about 2″ wide is all and it still holds it in place. The bamboo is pretty and smooth to the touch, water drops bead on the surface, but I do try to wipe them up before they sit long. My wine glasses are a bit big to fit in the wine glass slot, but you can still set a glass or mug above the intended wine glass holder. After shopping for a bathtub caddy, I’m very pleased with this choice and would recommend it to others. I also purchased a water proof bag that I place my iPad in also, just in case of an accidental dip into the tub. A good quality gallon ziplock type bag might work well too if you grabbed it out of the water quickly.

    Fantastic Caddy!

I received this caddy as a gift after putting it on my Wish List. It’s the second one I’ve owned — the first having lasted two years before I dropped it during cleaning and cracked the wood on the front edge so deeply that it hurt my arms the next time I used it to read in the tub. Between the two, I briefly tried a different bath caddy which I liked at first but which held my book so high over the tub that I couldn’t get comfortable while trying to read. This caddy is perfect. The way the wire extension arms on the side shaped means the tray sits about an inch lower than the top edge of your tub. That was important to me since the other caddy actually raised my book 1 1/2 inches over the edge. There are ample drainage holes so water doesn’t collect, but it’s a good idea to dry it off after use anyway. (I learned with my first one that if you don’t dry it the arms will eventually grow rust and the finish will start wearing off.)Most importantly, for those of us who love to read or watch Netflix on their iPads or Kindles in the tub (just slip them in a Ziploc bag and you’re good), the book rest is angled perfectly for tub reading/viewing and the grooves on the tray really do keep your book/tablet from slipping. That wine glass holder is pretty nice, too.I absolutely love this thing!

Lovely but functional design could use a few improvements

This shelf is very pretty, good quality, and works well. I love the bamboo materiel and it looks very nice sitting in my tub. I also like how the cup holder feature is perforated to prevent condensation from accumulating under drinks. My issues with this caddy are: 1) the wire “arms” that extend out to suspend it above the tub do not have a stopper– If you are hastily setting it up, or have a wider tub, you could end up pulling them out too far and dunking your caddy. A stopper on the ends would be nice! 2) The wire book holder could be a little thicker and more angled (towards the back). It feels a little flimsy, and if you have a lightweight book, it might not lean up against the near-vertical stand properly. I think making the stand thicker, slightly shorter, and more angled back would solve this issue. I have started using a large binder clip on the left side to hold my paper backs, since the angle doesn’t always allow gravity to do this for me! Overall, if I was purchasing again, I would probably look for something with a book stand more like I described. I do use this but it could be better!
