Rain/ snow in the forest, no problem

I’m outside a lot, like exceptionally out in the weather. My tractor doesn’t have a cab, but I built it a roof, these pants keep me dry and warm. Sometimes I wear sweat pants and long John’s under when it’s around 25 degrees. Only moisture I get is from sweat. Without these, I rely on cycling through 3 sets of clothes that eventually get saturated from rain/ snow, even if I’m still warm, if I stop moving around being soaked gets cold fast and is only solved by putting everything in the dryer. Sometimes only after hanging to drip so it dont break the dryer, things get over saturated and heavy. I wish I had bought these long time ago

Pleased with these for a young tween

Nice weight, nicely made. Completely pleased w the offerings of inseams. My tween boy is growing quickly but the legs aren’t necessarily w the rest of his size. I bought a M/30 inseam thinking it’d get me hopefully through two winter seasons. Waist and hip yes, but those legs … so again appreciative for the multi inseams available – my family is tall so this is great and wish they’d offer the same for ladies.Construction and material seem like they will hold up for sledding, and snow fort building and overall crawling around the snow covered ground. In other words – looks like a tween can beat them up with daily play and they’ll hold up.

    Good Product for the Price

When I ordered these pants, I was leery because of all the reviews about sizing issues. However, I found these pants fit extremely well. Let me start by saying that I’m a small guy – 5’6″, 125 lbs; I have a 29 inch inseam and and 29 inch waist (my actual measurements, not what pant sizes say). I’m the guy who can never find something to fit correctly because clothing manufacturers size everything up a bit. Size small for these pants is actually a 30 inch waist and the short inseam is actually 30 inches. I can’t speak for people who need large through multiple XL, but I’m guessing that if you have a tape and actually measure yourself, you will be able to order the size that fits you.As for the warmth of the product, I was out for two hours on the initial wear, and they were great in 30 F for moderate activity (blowing snow, shoveling, pulling my daughter around in a sled). If you plan on prolonged contact with the snow itself (kneeling in it to build a snowman, or making snow angels) the insulation in the pants isn’t as great. However, at the price point of 40 bucks, I don’t believe you can expect them to perform like a $200 pair of pants. I have not worn them enough to see how well they will hold up over time, but if they last a winter of shoveling and playing in the snow, they’re worth the money spent. Overall I’m happy with the purchase.

    Runs small/wrong size labeled?

I wear 32×32 pants. 6′ tall. Per sizing chart, I ordered medium, as it stated for 32″ inseam and 32-34″ waist. They were very tight with pants underneath and were very restrictive. Returned for L. That was better fit and with the adjustable velcro waist tightening had good waist and leg movement. However, they seemed short. Measured inseam using a tape measure (see photo). These have 30″ inseam, not 32″. I had ordered ‘regular’ not ‘short’, the latter of which says is 30″ inseam. Could have worked for me, but when bending/flexing legs, it showed a bit much top of boot/leg, so ended up sending these back too & ordered different brand. Other than improper sizing, seemed well made and were nice and warm.

    Keeps You Warm

We just had one of the coldest outbreaks in the south and these pants worked really well and kept me warm. They were really good and windproof as well. It says they are waterproof but I haven’t really got to test it out well (plan is to use them down by the river up the road). Water does roll of these pretty good when I experimented at home. What I don’t like is how they fit around mu buttocks region. They are a little tighter than I prefer. Trying to figure out the sizing was a bit of headache in my opinion. But overall am happy with what I got.

    Seems nice.

These look like nice snow pants and the price isn’t too bad. However, the sizing seems way off. I ordered based on my waist size, which is 40″ (actual measurement), and my inseam is 32″. So based on the Arctix sizing chart, XL should have been perfect, and that’s what I ordered. Well, the waist is just huge, at least 3″ too big. Without suspenders they would just fall right off, and there’s no adjustability. The height also seems way off. They are at least 3″ longer than my jeans with a 32 inseam. My only thought is that the Arctix sizing chart is meant to go by the size of regular pants you wear (whose true sizes are considerably larger than the size on the tag). Fair enough, but would have been nice to mention that. That wouldn’t account for the huge length discrepancy. Also, the elastic at the bottom has an extremely large opening, won’t fit tightly around anything short of a severely swollen ankle/leg. Is this standard for snow pants? Are they designed this way so that you can get them on and off while your boots are still installed? I have no idea, but I always put my shoes/boots on after my pants. But I don’t ski, maybe skiers do it differently.Edit: I’ve been reading through reviews of other ski/snow pants, and it appears that skiers/snowboarders DO use these differently than I do. I guess they put the pants on OVER the outside of the boots, which makes sense if you aren’t using gaiters, and also makes sense that they’d run a bit long in that case. So for that application it’s fine. I’ve always used gaiters in the snow (snowshoeing or hiking), so the pants needn’t be extra long, and they don’t need to fit over boots.Quality seems decent, but I don’t really have experience with other snow pants to compare. Wish they came in more vibrant colors.

I am sticking with these warm pants

At 6′ 1″ 175 lbs I went with the size jeans I buy at large retail stores. I get 34″ x 34″ jeans (using the fitted dress suit paints scale or actual measurement will probably be too small), my 34 x 34 is oversized so I need a belt but long term comfort when active or sitting is better. The extra length in jeans helps keep them from sliding up my legs when squatting down or sitting. For these pants I picked the M size 32-34 waist and the long leg option. Nice fit on these points. Outer heel cuffs are factory oversized so if you ware slippers and get them long length they will find a way under your heel to step on them (shoes and boots hold them up and away).LOST A STAR BECAUSE OF THE WAISTBAND ISSUES: for myself the Velcro snug strap worked, but many will find it won’t snug up the waist enough because it just one and it is short, it is attached with elastic cloth so it has ‘give and take’ as you move around for a comfy not tight or loose fit.Where you would find a button on jeans you find failure. The 2 little snaps there would struggle to stop a couple of ants from popping them open, since they never seem to really snap together. Beyond those snaps is a small Velcro place holder that the same ants may just push aside. My particular pair of pants showed that the waistline seamstress work was using poor quality thread and workmanship. After just a couple of wears the right front lower beltline sowing unstitched itself, although it is not separated there yet.I plan to continue using them as part of my cold weather layers, and continue to ware jeans over them for their protection.

    Warmth at a great price!

I rarely write reviews, but these warrant it. I walk my dogs at 0 degrees F or colder, and these keep me toasty warm. They are almost as warm as a big name brand I bought a year ago at 3x the price. If I don’t take them off immediately after coming inside, then I begin to sweat. Fit is great, maybe a little large. I’m a L and wouldn’t fit in a M. Pretty lightweight also. At this price, don’t even think about it. Just buy ’em.

    Finally found good fit

After ordering 5 different sizes, women’s and men’s, the men’s x-large fit me. I am a woman, bigger in the waist and narrower in the hips and thighs so men’s size fits better. They seem to be well constructed and warm, just what I wanted. It’s now spring so I won’t really be able to give them a test in cold weather til next winter.

Really nice pants, heavy duty zippers just a super pair. I’m 6’3 and 195lbs I ordered the large tall. They are a little long but not too bad. I wish they had full length zippers on the legs but seems like that’s only in bibs

    Great value

The snow pants fit as expected. We are very pleased with its fitting and fast shipping service of course. We purposely ordered a larger size (compared to his Jean size) for more room and flexibility. It runs a bit loose around his waist while other parts fit perfectly. Good thing is that it has the loops for belt, so he just added a belt and the pants are ready to go. Nice fabric and sewing quality for its price. Highly recommend it.

I’m not sure how long this pants will last but if you are a decent snowboarder and need pants to wear for quick trip, this should work. protected me from wind chills in Colorado! I’m thoroughly impressed with this item! The construction and build quality are outstanding, and it’s been a reliable product through frequent use. Sized appropriately if you are not lying to your self

I got these as a rushed order for skying. These were far better than I thought they would be. The have a thinish lining that is more warm than I thought they were going to. My insulated leggings underneath were to much. I should have went with just regular first layer gear and I still would have been warm. They were comfortable and the joints articulated enough that I had full rang of leg movement and no bindings.

    sizing is off

I measured and used the size chart on the listing and they are too big and short so that’s odd. better than too small i guess. I can wear a belt with them and tall boots and they are fine. The pants show the size conversion which should be on the listing in addition to what’s already there. Other than that they feel very cozy, warm, well made and sturdy. the elastic on the bottom isn’t very small but I’m assuming that’s because they are supposed to go over your ski boots? I will just be tucking these in. I included photos of more helpful size conversions that were on the tag.

    Small, NOT FREE TO RETURN

I ordered an XL per the manufacturers sizing chart and they were very small – I couldn’t even close the front much less walk. No problem, I thought. With Amazons try before you buy, I’ll just send it back and get the next size up. Right? Wrong. So much for free returns. Unlike literally every other item I’m ever had to return from Amazon, these pants could not just be dropping at Kohl’s, they had to be taken to a UPS store. And I had to pay for packaging, and labeling, and return shipping. And it was a pain in the @$$.The pants look like they were decent quality, but after paying almost $10 to send back a $35 item, I’m not going to find out. These have been returned and I’m going to replace them with a different brand.

    Stiching is horrible

There are loose ends of thread at nearly every stitch. The clasps at the waist rotate making it very difficult to close both of them. It came with a hole in the pocket I only discovered after ‘losing” a pocket knife only to find it inside the pant between the insulation. They are warm and comfortable but I do not see them standing the test of time. The fabric used seems good quality but the sloppy stitching and obvious lack of quality control has ruined what may otherwise be a great product.

    Long

Nice and warm. Seem to be will made. The only problem I have is the length. If there was a cord on the bottom of it where you could tighten it up that would be better.I ordered a 30 length and it’s more like a 32 to 34. There are velcro straps on each side that’s supposed to help like a belt. However it’s useless. There’s only a small piece of velcro to attach it to on the side. When it needs to be probably 3 in longer on each

    Runs smaller than I thought.

I originally ordered a small because I am a 30 waist and it was squeezing on me pretty tight. Either I’ve gained weight or these fit a little small. I’m not willing to except the former so I will go with the latter. I re-ordered a medium and they fit good but just a hair too loose. I used the adjustable strapped to tighten it up.

    Size fits

Gave this a 4 because they sent the wrong color. But they do fit I purchased the 2XL and I am 284 lbs, I do dislike the crotch area being somewhat low, so less leg movement while walking but since it is the first time wearing snow pants I do not have something to comapre it too. The water/snow does not go through, yet you’ll feel the coolness of the snow. It is a good product.

Roomy enough to wear over regular clothes

I only used these once so far, but that was snow tubing. They kept me warm and dry, as expected. They fit loosely enough to be able to wear layers underneath, if necessary. I only wish the waist had a little more adjustability, to tighten them a little more. There’s Velcro on the sides, but I could use just a little bit more.

    Good for the price point

Finally got a day on the snow w these pants. I figured at the price point something would be unacceptable. But I didn’t have any issues w them. I don’t get cold normally so I can’t say if they really were warm, but the couple times I crashed out. I was dry. My only complaint and it didn’t cause any use issues, is the hook and loop for the location of where a button would be, the loops swivel freely so you just have to line the hooks up to go thru them. Not the end of the world but would of been nice if they stayed where they were put. Overall well worth the money.

Solid Ski Pants! Would Buy Again!

These were my first pair of ski/snow pants. I bought them for a trip to Germany, where there was constant snow. See below for a general overview of pros and cons.Pros:- Waterproof: truly waterproof. I tried them out in rain and snow (up to knee-deep) and there was no water damage or leakage of water inside the pants.- Breathable: never sweat in these despite hiking for hours.- Warm: these pants are very well insulated. I did not have to wear thermals under these and my legs were always warm, even in single-digit (Fahrenheit) weather. I sat on ice and blocks of snow and my legs never got cold.- Durable and well-made: I put these pants through rough terrain and non-stop snow exposure. They held up excellent and no evidence of wear and tear.- Very comfortable- Fit very well: I am a little under 5’4″ with a 28 waist. Although these pants were a bit wide at the waist, there are elastic velcro bands on the sides that you can tighten to shrink the waist. Despite this, the pants were still a bit wide at the waist but I can’t blame the company for that being that I have a 28 waist and there “Small” size fits more like a 30.Cons:- The only issue I had with these was the length. They are a bit long on me, to the point that the bottom backs of the pants scrap the ground even when I’m wearing snow boots. Again I’m a little shy of 5’4″ and usually wear a 30-inch short inseam for my regular jeans and dress pants but these seem to be more of a 30-inch long inseam. But these are the shortest snow/ski pants I could find for this price so I’ll take it.Overall, I am happy with my purchase. They definitely did the trick in Germany, where there was constant snow. I’d recommend them to anyone who is looking for reliable, durable, warm, waterproof pants for cold weather.

These are amazing for the price! Great quality, super thick & warm. I ordered up a size thinking I’d need it for layering underneath but they’re a tad to big now. Even with the elastic Velcro straps tightened down. I’ll be skiing with them anyway, with suspenders 🤣 🤘Definitely would buy again, but buy actual size.

    Plus Size Review

Let me start by saying I always like when I can find a review from a fellow big. I’m 6’4 and just north of 300 lbs. My waist is a true 44×32. After reading the comments I was a bit worried about sizing. I went with the XXL/32 and they just arrived today. Fit is pretty dang good. The crouch part is a bit tight, but i’ll take that over sizing up and having them super baggy. If you’d prefer more crouch room i’d recommend sizing up a bit. This is my first impression just wearing them around the house, but they look and feel great! I am planning on skiing tonight so i’ll report back on if I stay warm.

    good pants

Originally, I bought and returned the Arctix Cargo Snow pants. The sizing on the Cargo style was off in my opinion. These essential snow pants are more accurate sizing. The length on the regular is shown as 32 inch and on the Cargo pants that was way off as those were much longer. On these Essential snow pants the length was as expected. I also found the waist in the Cargo style smaller than expected while the Essential style was more accurate. For these Essential snow pants, I find them a good bargain. They are decently constructed and I think will work well for my use which is taking the dog out in winter and shoveling. I have worn them a few times now and they are warm and provided wind and wet protection. These are very very much like the Cargo syle other than the sizing seems much better.. I don’t expect they will last a lifetime but for my occassional non-extreme use, I expect some years. I think the snaps and velcro waist closure is weak, but ok. The adjustable waist feature give small flexibility but I largely think it doesn’t do much due to its design. I ordered a size up in these so that I could wear over pants or not over pants. These fit good over pants, but not over pants they are a little loose and the adjustable waist isn’t firm enough to help a lot. I added a belt and now I am set. The boot gaitors on these also seem more appropriately size where I think the ones are the Cargo are super large. I am happy with these especially for the price. I’d not pay more.

Actually a bit more water repellent than i thought. I got the M/M in 34 inseam. Im 5’11” 175lbs with a normal jean 33″ waist. These fit great with boots on. If using shoes id go with a 32″ inseam. Great Fall pants and early spring.

I just folded them like cuffs, and taped around to hold them up

I’m a big guy and needed something to keep me warm while working outside at a railroad museum in snowy conditions. I ordered the 3XL to match my 48″ waist, but I can barely fasten the buttons. I have to cinch my belt tight to keep the buttons closed, as the buttons and Velcro closure “popped” when I sat down. I had hoped to be able to wear a pair of fleece pants under these as well, but because of the tight waist I cannot. Also, the legs are extremely long. Not sure why, but the inseam measures 34 inches, and I am a 30. So, even with my work boots on, I was walking on the legs which was tripping me and almost tore the cuffs. I ended up using painters tape to tape the legs up higher so that I could use these pants in a recent snow storm. I just folded them like cuffs, and taped around to hold them up. Not pretty, but it worked and kept my legs dry. My wife is going to hem them up for me so I don’t have to tape them anymore. (I’m guessing that like many other clothing items I’ve purchased, manufacturers assume that because I’m big around, I’m also really tall.)I still give these pants a 3 rating, because other than the fit issues, they did a pretty good job of keeping me warm most of the time. One recent night of 12 degree weather, snowing, and windy, I got a little cold. The wind just seemed to penetrate the pants, so I put on a pair of coveralls over them and it helped. Definitely kept me warmer than I would have been without them. I would recommend these pants, but buy a size larger at least.

Real review on a good product.

There are a lot of reviews for this that say these snowpants are too small or too large. It appears that many clothing reviews on Amazon have a similar sizing feedback distribution, a nice bell curve. This was the case for all snowpants reviews I looked at.What I also learned was that the reason for this is the inaccuracies in all clothing sizes used by all manufactures. I am a guy and thought pants sizes were simple and accurate, not so! I wear a size 32 pants, some fit a little big, some a little tight but most just right with no belt. When measuring my waist size it is actually 34 inches! Trying on 34 jeans and they fall right to the floor without touching me.So when looking at snowpants I found a small footnote that is likely the cause for many size problems. When you put your size into the charts supplied, such as Arctix does for these snowpants, use your actual measurement! In this case I am right on the line between the medium and large and went with the medium. The size fits me great, a little loose with just long underwear and a little snug with heavy jeans on. When I say snug I mean similar to relaxed fit jeans. I can still move around, shovel snow and sit on an AYV seat with no discomfort but they don’t fall down without a belt. So, I would consider the size selection to be a success, if I was going to be really active and say snowshoe in these I would not wear jeans and feel totally free but am just fine with jeans underneath when working on a vehicle etc. Length was great too, my normal jeans inseam is 30 or 32 depending on brand so I bought short (30) which is plenty generous but not walking on them in stocking feet and a couple inches off floor with boots on.One note, the waist fastener is not a snap as appears in the photo, it is a pair of hooks like dress pants but heavy duty and includes a Velcro flap on the inside as well. The ankle fasteners are snaps and seem like they will be fine. The front pockets have decent zippers. another note about the pockets, they are lines with a soft fabric and are great to put your bare hands in. Unfortunately the pockets are quite short, big enough to hold a full size smart phone and zip them closed but that is all, wish they were about twice as tall. Finally, insulation is what I would call medium weight compared to all the other snow pants we have around home. They are heavier than an ultralight kids snowpants and lighter than a high end snowmobile bibs. Overall a great product, would buy them again.

    No back pockets?

It doesn’t make sense that there’s no back pockets on these. I also don’t like the style of the button since they are more like clips which are much harder to put on.

    Lightweight

Easy to put on and walk with. Ordered a Large (36-38w and 32 long) and is slightly large in the waist but wearable and perfect length over 32×32 pants.

    Good for tall and skinny

My son had the XL Kids last year. He’s very leggy. He is now 5’5” so I got him the Men’s Small 32” inseam and that was perfect. The 30” inseam would have been too short.

Bought New Pants & Received Used Pants

I bought these pants as a Christmas gift for a skip holiday. We opened them early for our trip. My husband immediately noticed rub marks, a tiny bit of pilling from wear, and tiny splatters of something in a few places. There were several indicators these had been worn. The pants also came in a different bag than the other Arctix pants I bought for the rest of my family (as shown). So it’s obvious these were not new. We deserve a refund or discount since we bought these new and received them used.

    Awesome pants

First day wearing these pantsI love them so farI was looking for a pair of winter pants to wear over my jeans without the straps that go over your shoulders ( i have a pair of those n they work awesome but harder to take on n off unless you can wear them that day without having to take them off, like when you got to poop or go in n out of a warm place) but these you can take off easierThese have belt loop holes so you can wear a belt n tighten more around your waist, works really good cause without the shoulder straps with me snow oants like these fall down cause i get them bigger size so i can wear over my jeansIf you want to wear over your jeans get bigger size, i am like a 32 or 33 waist n i have 34 size pants ( i just lost some weight n i should have 33 waist size pants but havent had to buy new pants yet so i have my 34 waist size when i weighed 10-20 more pounds), i got the large size 36-38 waist n 32 L or inseam to put over my pants, also you will be even warmer to wear over pantsI had another snow pants pair n they didnt work out putting over your jeansDismorning was like 27 degrees n i was warm n not coldWinter is pretty much over, just 1 more morning in the 20’s n then it should be in the 30’s until more time goes by n mornings will be in the 40’sWish i got these a lot sooner

Do Not Stretch – Runs Narrow

These seemed well made but didn’t work for me. There was no give or stretch. They weren’t roomy enough for me to move around and flex my legs without them pulling down my backside. Maybe I just went too small on the size. Had I gotten a size roomy enough for motion, the waist would have been way too big. Might be fine for others, but they just didn’t work for me.

    No snow yet but

We haven’t had any snow or really cold temps here yet but I have tried them on. For reference I am 6′ tall with 33″ inseam and 44″ waist. They fit well and for the short time I wore them in my 70 degree home they were toasty.
