Decent Product
This is my third Boogie board I’ve had over the past 10 years or so. Good product that serves its purpose BUT… I wish they would make it a little brighter. It doesn’t seem like that’s changed over time and would be a real improvement.

Very light but very fragile. Needs a case because it is so flimsy
If you want a cheap reusable tablet, this is as cheap as you can get. It does need a case, though, because it is so flimsy. It has no background and does not scan well.

I’m a Lister, Mister
All of my life, I’ve been a lister. From To-Dos to ven diagrams, I bullet, bullet, bullet point. Pencils are fine; pens are good, but they always seem to dry up or lose their glide-like ability. What’s the point 🙂 you say? This super, super helpful tool hits such a home run for me.Here are a few things to make your decision a little easier:Pros:• Amazingly easy feel when writing• No-erase clip with a stylus holster as well• Magnets are included• 50,000 erases which allow for you to erase 3 times per day for a little more than 45 and 1/2 years!!!• Perfect for any lister, artist, playmate… You name it• Super light for on-the-goCons:• Around the 5 mm of black, nearest to the blue frame on each of the 4 sides, the Boogie Board writing color turns bluish.• The writing color everywhere else is a dull gray which could make it hard to see if you have trouble seeing or are in a dark environment.• The no-erase clip has the potential to slide too far as you push it. You just have to position it gently.• The no-erase clip and stylus holster make the Boogie Board rock back and forth/bend slightly which isn’t as annoying as it is nerve racking at the feeling/thought of hurting something that I like so much.[To solve this, I took a piece of plywood and cut it down to a slightly smaller shape than the Boogie Board’s back edge with a gap for the no-erase clip to slide. This also solves the no-erase clip from going too far which is nice.]Overall, I love this tool/toy/memory bank for my thoughts. It proves perfect for my needs and I love it so much. I very much recommend it and, if you are having trouble deciding between this one and the other Boogie Boards, as I did, this might help. The other Boogie Boards’ attractive features were the bigger screen size, no-erase switch, ability to save on your computer, ability to have a memory bank of your drawings/writings/etc, and rechargeable battery. Here is what you have to consider:• This screen is big enough for anything that you will most likely be doing.• The clip isn’t bad and not annoying, just a little scary in the bending aspect. It’s not a big deal and definitely isn’t a deal breaker.• This isn’t something I’d recommend for work (other than a day-to-day list) or making Vincent Van Gogh artwork on and, subsequently, the saving feature isn’t something you’d need whatsoever.• The memory bank would be nice, but again, for my purposes and yours most likely as well, it’s not necessary and hardly worth $10, let alone $70.• The rechargeable battery sounds cool, but think about it. Will you be needing this more than 45 and 1/2 years? Or even if it were a fraction of that… Say you erased 10 times per day. Would you be using it 13 and 1/2 years? For my purposes, probably not.• And finally, is it worth the extra chunk of cash for these features ($70 extra)? Again, for me, no.***If you found this review helpful, please do vote “Helpful” directly below. Thanks for reading!!!***

Very handy
I didn’t know these things existed until a coworker told me about them. I promptly ordered two different types (and I’ll copy this review to the other one). I keep one on my desk for jotting down notes. I keep the other (magnetic) one on the fridge, used for all sorts of things. I’ve jotted grocery and meal lists on it. I’ve used it to keep track of medications given, dosages, and times. My only issue with them is I wish they would make them brighter so it’s easier to read with my old eyes. They’re still great, though!

Paper saver!
Nice, light, easy to hold, great alternative to paper note pad. I now plan to purchase several for giving as a gift to family members. Not only saves on scraps of paper which often get lost before can be written on calendar, it’s fun to use, and easy to locate due to it’s distinctive look. Love mine!

Buy a Boogie Board – Save a tree!
I had my last Boogie Board for seven years. I used it daily to remind myself of dozens of different things. This new model is a beautiful fuchsia color and very thin and streamlined. It fits nicely in my kitchen drawer when not in use. The quality is great! It’s already getting a lot of use. I plan on buying several for Christmas gifts this year.

Great Product
I bought this for my 7 year old daughter and she loves it. It’s been two days and she can’t put it down. Like most kids, she loves to doodle and I was burning through way too much paper. This definitely solves that problem.I think a lot of the discussions/reviews already give a good background of the device, so I wanted to write my review to address some of those things instead.1) It doesn’t have a save feature. But I knew that before I bought it. Quite frankly, its not really that big of an issue. Of the millions of art projects the kids do, how many do you actually keep anyway. Almost all of them end up in the trash anyway at some point. So having a save button is not that big of a deal. And if it ever was, in this day and age, most of us have cameras on our phones, we can simple take a picture of their design. The makers do however make another version of this item which you can save and connect up to your computer for $99. Honestly though if you are going to spend $99 on that version, you might as well kick in a few extra $$ and get a Kindle Fire or a Nexus 7. They are Android tablets that let you do SO many more things than just doodle. Plus you can doodle in full color and not just black and white.2) Some people complain that it isn’t bright enough. I’m not quite sure what they are talking about here, because I can see everything just fine. Granted, I have only used it indoors though. Maybe outside in direct sunlight may pose an issue. But that’s an issue with most electronic devices, not just this one.3) It acts just like a normal tablet. You don’t need a lot of pressure to draw on it and you can improvise with your finger nails and stuff like that. Just don’t use anything sharp or you’ll scratch the protective coating.4) I have the newer version. Some people have commented on the older versions having a switch to lock in your design so you can’t accidentally erase it. I looked all over and could not find any such switch on the new versions. Again, this is not really an issue though for us. The erase button is positioned at the top and you need a little pressure to make it erase. So accidentally bumping the button and erasing shouldn’t be an issue.5) The new version comes with the magnets and stylus clip in the package, so if you order the newer one there is no need to purchase the extra kit.6) I got this primarily for my daughter for random doodling, but it also works great for homework as well. I gave her a spelling test and had her write down all the words as I said them.Overall, I am very impressed with this item. If I were to do it over again, I would definitely buy it again. Its a great bang for the buck item.

AWESOME product, GREAT price, but POOR shipping packaging
I chose this product for my daughter’s 6th birthday because she is constantly using up my printer paper playing school or writing/drawing things. Even though this seems like just another technologically unnecessary item, I still felt it would get its money’s worth at our house. So far so good! I didn’t intend on getting her a pink one when I set out to find the best price on these Boogie Boards, but since the going rate for a black one or different color was $26-29, and this pink one was listed at $23, it seemed like a no-brainer, because of course she would PREFER pink over black anyway! The Boogie Board is reminiscent of the old-fashioned cardboard toys I had as a kid, where you wrote on a gray “film” with a plastic pencil-like item and it used some form of carbon copy, or static to make your marks. Then when you wanted to erase, you peeled up that plastic gray film and it erased. This is basically an ‘electronic’ version of that. It is very thin and slender but seems to be of good quality. This Boogie Board came with an optional magnet to attach to the back so it could be used on the fridge for notes, etc. It is very easy to write on and it is almost pressure sensitive, as if you hold the plastic stylus in one spot longer, your line will get thicker depending on the pressure. For erasing, you press the top circle and there is a quick flash of light, and your image is gone and the board is blank. The product says it is good for only a certain number of “erases”, as there is no option to change batteries or bulbs or anything like that. It is kind of a relief knowing I don’t need to track down certain batteries or mess with that at all, but also a bummer to know that there is a life-expectancy on this ‘toy.’ However, the number of erases is somewhere in the hundreds of thousands, so I am confident my children will have broken or lost this toy before that point. I am currently deciding if I should buy one of the cases for this or just let it haphazardly survive in my home/car…..good news is cases are only around $10.Onto the shipping. We received this item very quickly. However, the packaging was very poor for such an item. This Boogie Board has manufacturing packaging so you are able to write on a portion of the board or “test it out” in stores and see how it works, so there is a section across most of the screen that has no protection. That is all fine and dandy, but for shipping, it should be protected in a BOX like most of my Amazon products arrive in. Instead it was placed in a regular yellow padded envelope. This envelope had huge gashes in it and was tore through the envelope AND bubble wrap, exposing the screen. The manufacturing box also had tears in it, like it was either mishandled or someone used the product and then returned it in its less than par box. Considering this item has a limited use, I don’t like the idea that it could be potentially ‘used’ and then returned. I definitely expect more out of Amazon than the packaging it was sent in. I took pictures of these gouges and tears and emailed Amazon about it, but have not heard any response or a “we’ll do better next time” or anything….yet (sent that message about a month ago).Breakdown of review:My daughter, age 6 and son, age 8 fight over using this board. They love it and it has already paid for itself in terms of its use at our house. Great for in the car too- they are loving playing hangman on it or passing notes back and forth.Price was great for a product like this. I would definitely buy again and recommend to anyone with children. I kind of want my own to put on the fridge for notes/reminders and that kind of thing.I will eventually probably want a case for this if for no reason than to have a place to keep track of the stylus…right now it is lost in the abyss known as my daughter’s room…..Only con I can think of, other than the packaging, is that there is no way to erase just a portion of your screen. Like if you are drawing something and you make a mistake, you have to erase the entire screen and start over (I remember this all too well with having to pull the gray film back on those ‘olden day’ toys).I would rate the product 5 stars if it came with a string on the stylus or a place to attach it to the board, and if they mailed it out in a protected box with the air packs like most of my other products are sent. Clearly this must have been filled by a company other than Amazon, but if Amazon is going to use this other company, they should make sure their packaging meets their requirements and standards!

A little disappointing!
I’d been to my bank where I saw a teller using something like this for taking down notes and thought it would be great to write my weekly grocery list or to-do list on. It looks like a child’s toy instead of like the one I saw at the bank but couldn’t find the one the bank teller had that she said she purchased on Amazon. Looks aside, it is good! The frustrating things are that you push this one button that will erase anything on the screen, including your grocery list if the button is exposed and something accidentally presses on that button. The stuff you write on the screen isn’t very bright and cannot be read when you’re in a darker place or in the car on a sunny day. I will still use it because it is great to drop in my purse when I’m running errands or going grocery shopping, but I’ve learned not to let anything else touch the screen, because it seems ANYTHING will “write” on it or leave marks, scribble over what is on the list in the first place, so it can be a bit tempermental or fussy in dealing with on a regular basis. Think I’d like to find what the exact one was from my bank teller and try that out instead. It is VERY affordable, though!

Honestly I love this product only downside is the pen being at the top of the device. It is not as secure as I’d prefer, the slide covers the button nicely if you are worried about someone clearing the pad before you are done with it.

This is great for a distraction. My husband has mad anxiety and ADHD, and ever since I got this boogie board, he has done nothing but distract himself. It helps with his anxiety and it lights up a big smile I cannot explain. It may be small, but it fits perfect in my bag.

This is simple, and it works. The stylus
This is a slightly older design of Boogie Board that works really well and is less expensive than the newer versions. For a mono LCD display it’s nice and clear and easy to read. The stylus clip doubles as erase protection (the clip slides to cover the erase button), but is also a bit of a deficit – if you want to prop it up (for family notes), you’ll note that the pad is top-heavy. It’d be natural to use this pad upside down (heavy side down), but the clip gets in the way. This unit also doesn’t have a replaceable battery. The battery is only used when the erase button is pressed, so in practice it will last for many years, but it’s also a bit of planned obsolescence.

4 year old birthday
I bought this for my 4 year old daughter’s birthday knowing that it did not have a save feature and knowing that it may be a little hard to read. I figured she could have fun with it while arround the house or out for drives. As expected, she loves it. What I did not expect is for her 7 year old sister to like it so much that she promised to do the dishes for a whole month if we got her one too LOL. See, so in a way, this thing can do your dishes too hahahaha. In all, I give it 5 stars because it more than met my expectations for the purpose in which I bought it for. Also, yes in certain lights it may be a bit difficult to read, but for a child, the possibilities are limitless and High-Def is irrelevant and immaterial. She is practicing spelling her name and words she learns at school, something she can continue to do over the summer. For older children, give them a math problem. Let them work it out and show you the answer, then erase it and give them another one. For adults, leave it on the counter or refrigerator to write down a quick note for your spouse or kids. Leave a good morning note for your family to see if you are someone that leaves for work before they get up. Use it for grocery list, then jot down what you really need on a slip of paper before you leave and cross it out on the board leaving what you still need to get. We don’t always buy everything at the same store. For Computer overclockers like me, use it to temporarily jot down your voltage settings of your most recent overclock just in case you have to reset. Also can be used to write down parts that need to be ordered for a new computer you are building. For elderly or someone taking daily medication, write down the last time you took your pills and leave it next to your pills, just in case you forget if you took them or not. See, many uses for many ages. Hope this helps with your decision.

Like the product. Had one for many years and loved it. My old one had a magnet on the back so I could place it on the side of my fridge. Great LITTLE device, especially for a kid, especially for a kid who goes through a lot of paper. 🙂
First, please don’t be fooled (as I was) by the “8.5-Inch” in the name of this device. This is probably one of the reasons I give it four starts instead of five. I believed that I was getting the version of this device that is roughly the size of an 8.5×11 piece of paper, which I had seen in a nationwide consumer electronics store that once-upon-a-time catered to people who liked to build their own radios and electronic devices, back when a ham “wireless” setup was referred to as a “shack” – I am sure you can guess which place I mean.I saw the larger size version of this device there for the same price I paid for the smaller version from this seller (E&B Electronics, fulfilled through Amazon). I almost returned it for this reason, but the birthday girl’s birthday was too close, so I decided to just buck up and keep it, even though the price was higher than expected for the size being smaller than expected. (FYI, for those of you who, like me, don’t already know, the device is measured diagonally, like a TV, so if you want the larger one, you should look for the 10.5″.)Otherwise, the product is nifty. Its, as others may have said, just a fancy electronic version of that old waxed-board-and-cellophane thing that anyone over the age of forty probably had as a child, where you draw on the cellophane with a little stylus, which makes the cellophane stick to the waxed board, making darker lines where you have drawn, and to erase you lift the cellophane up, peeling the two layers apart. Well, this is like that. That’s all. Except you press a button to “reset” the image. There is no computer connection (although they DO make one that can hook up to the computer and transfer your valuable notes and sketches, for about four or five times the cost.)But for kids – why bother? Did we complain back in the day that we couldn’t “save” our drawings on the wax-board-and-cellophane-thingy? No. We just played tic-tac-toe and drew silly pictures and were amused on long car rides. And the 8-year-old girl for whom this was purchased was THRILLED. She has been using it to draw, write us notes, compose odes to her stuffed animals (never done this before!), and we can play dots, hangman, etc, in restaurants now without me having to drag my Kindle everywhere I go (hee hee!).The only way this device could have been better as far as my 8-year-old is concerned is if it somehow could convert into a stuffed animal, ha ha! Highly recommend, but be forewarned about the size, triple check the price**, and understand that what you are getting is just a high tech version of that old waxboard-cellophane thing; if you consider all this, I doubt you’ll be disappointed.**Amazon, I am appalled at how ridiculously you have jacked up your prices on many popular items this holiday season – things I’ve seen at local chain stores for $20 have been listed on Amazon, sold and shipped BY Amazon, for more than twice that! – way to treat your loyal year-round customers, guys. When most stores are having SALES for the holidays, AMAZON DOES THE OPPOSITE!!

Perfect for scratch notes!
I’m someone who takes a lot of notes and jots down reminders and to-do lists for work, and I used to either fill up a notebook with them (and never look at them again) or pile up sticky notes on my desk that would end up all over my office and eventually in the trash. My Boogie Board has been great for replacing all the paper I used to waste! Easy to use, great writing quality, and very lightweight. As a plus, it’s fun to doodle on the board if you’re bored in a Zoom meeting 🙂
