Has pills on it after a couple months of light use
Has pills on it after a couple months of light use. This hasn’t happened with other carhartt sweatshirts I own. It makes it look old and low quality. It is comfortable and very warm.

Great coat, fits like a normal large, don’t size up
First of all, this is a great coat. Against my better judgement, I read the reviews and ordered a size up with people saying it was a “slimmer cut”. Don’t do it. I wear a large in just about all “regular” cut/style items. I’m 5’11” and about 220lbs, average build with some added pandemic pounds but no beer belly. The XL was absolutely gigantic.

Great jacket. Got compliments on it from multiple people already. A little long in the arms for me but not too bad.

Love this jacket!
After shopping for almost a year looking for the right winter jacket (for Phoenix) I found this jacket. Purchased it and am 100% pleased with it.Fit is perfect, I’m 6’2″ 220 and wear an XL, it’s perfect. It’s warm enough for a Phoenix winter and light enough to work for a light jacket as well. It’s quality is as expected from Carhartt and have had may compliments on it. It has the hard shell I was looking for to wear in rain and a soft liner for warmth.Would absolutely purchase it again.

Made my husband look pretty handsome
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He wanted a nice looking warm jacket, but he’s a “man’s man” so I had to be careful that it wasn’t too trendy, otherwise he wouldn’t wear it. This was perfect. He has many Carhartt jackets for doing work, so I knew he liked the brand. It’s lightweight, but with the wind/rain resistant shell and fleece lining it’s warm enough to wear to go out to eat or shopping in Wisconsin in the winter. The outer layer is not the traditional Carhartt material, but still seems durable.

Great Jacket, the husband loves it, size was our only issue
The jacket is a typical Carhartt jacket. That being said, its well made, top quality and a great dealthe only issue is that there is such a large size difference from the medium to the large. I ordered medium for my husband as that is what he always wears. It was to tight and he was unable to move his arms comfortably. So I returned it and ordered the large, it is a bit big on him and he looks like he needs a smaller size. He still loves it and hopes not to grow into it, so its a keeper. Wish they offered a medium 1/2

I couldn’t have picked a a more functional, warm and stylish coat. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!
The style and the Carhartt name were the 1st things to catch my eye. The first day I wore it put all its claims to the test. The coat fit properly. I stepped outside into the cold, windy light rain and I wasn’t even bothered by it. I probably got on a few people’s nerves talking about how nice it was. I really do love this coat. I don’t even have to question its durability because of the name “Carhartt ” . You can tell by the materials used and the stitching that it was made to last.

Hard o find correct size
Love the jacket, great quality was exactly what I was looking for, but finding the correct size was difficult. I have a thick chest, most items I get are either XL or XXL depending on the company making it. XL was to small, XXL fit great everywhere but my chest. When zipped up it was uncomfortable to wear. After searching for a week because of low supplies, I finally found a XXXL, it fits perfect around the chest with a some room to even wear a sweatshirt underneath, but the sleeves are long and it baggy everywhere else. Love the coat so went with the XXXL would rather it be baggy than uncomfortable.

Not what i expected.
First I love Carhartt, but these jackets not so much. First they smell really bad like gasoline and rubber and they do not flex at all, so I am not sure how you can work in them. I ordered both a 2xlt and 3xlt to see which one fit best. The length and quality was good on both jackets, but they were both way too tight especially the shoulders. Very very tight!!!

My husband loved this jacket!
So many pockets and features that are not even mentioned with this jacket. Lightweight but keeps you more warm than you would think. Great fit as well, hard to find sleeves long enough for him.

Classy looking Carhartt quality with slimmer fit
My son is 6′ with a very athletic build. The medium fit him perfectly. This is a bit of a slimmer look for Carhartt but still cut generously enough in the body for layers underneath if you need them, so don’t size-up. Plenty of sleeve length and velcro closure at wrist if needed. My son loves it! Windproof, waterproof, great pockets. Comfy fit and looks nice! Exactly what I was looking for to replace his leisure jacket as Christmas gift.

Classy look
Serves the purpose I was looking for in a warm jacket, but probably won’t be enough on its own for Chicago winters. It has a loose fit and should be able to add layers under it to keep warm.

Warm
The lining of the jacket keeps you nice and warm on chilly mornings. The exterior material keeps the wind out and your body warm. I like that the collar is very high and you can zip it all up to keep your neck and even your chin warm. Really like the flexibility of the material it’s made with. Runs true to size. I thought I’d be able to fit into a medium since the material stretches but needed a large like I usually take.

Durable, comfortable, fits great
The Carhartt Soft Shell Jacket is hands down the best soft shelljacket I’ve owned. It’s perfict on a cool fall day and durable. I am 6″5″ and sleves often do not fit me. With this jacket the fit is perfect. This jacket is a fantastic purchase for anyone in need of reliable and comfortable outerwear. Highly recommended!

Tight in armpits/shoulders
This jacket had me excited to try on. It appears to be a great material for working in construction and it had allot of stretch in the material. The extended back was awesome for the working man that doesn’t like cold air up the back side. The down side was that the shoulders and armpits are to tight to move comfortably or to layer under. The body and chest were a good fit for my normal/usual size. I do have wide shoulders and a narrower torso but the armpits were so uncomfortable I’m forced to return and find a different style.

Be prepared to be stared at by ladies
First of all, the Carhartt logo is always enough to turn a head or two, but pair it with simple design and a more sophisticated look and you have a recipe for female interaction. This is not your typical tan Carhartt jacket that tends to say, “I’m a blue collar guy with dirty fingernails who might hit you in anger.” This sleek jacket tends towards the, “I’m that guy’s boss and I have a sweet ride that doesn’t smell like grease, yet I built my own beautiful house.” It cuts the wind and sheds water like a duck. A very handsome duck.I highly recommend this jacket to anyone who wants to set themselves apart in a crowd of puffy jackets.

Slimmer fit, great looking jacket
I bought this coat for my boyfriend in the tamarac color and he absolutely LOVES IT. It has a slimmer fit than traditional Carhartt coats but still fits his measurements. It has a rugged soft-shell type of exterior and is fleece lined on the inside. It looks awesome. Can be dressed up or down.

Nice Jacket
This is a very nice jacket, can’t complain about the material used to make it but it fits a little weird – I got this for my son who is 14 and in between a men’s small and men’s medium. I got the small based on reviews and it fits him perfect but no room for a sweatshirt underneath. Perfect for a button up shirt or t-shirt under but that’s about it. The sleeves are very long, had I went up a size the sleeves would have been way too long.

Wanted to love this jacket…
Material is nice, reasonably heavy weight for softshell. Unfortunately runs small. I’m a solid small for all of my adult life (it’s been a while), and this was too tight across the chest/shoulders. (5’7″ – 145 lbs.). As one other reviewer mentioned – it is very “noisy” when rubbing on itself (when your arms move). Inside pocket is nice, but lining of pockets feels thin – like it won’t last). Thought about going for the medium, but the noise was a big turn-off.

Durable comfortable coat
I bought this coat for my husband and it fits very nice. It lays flat across the shoulders with no pointing and the sleeves are roomy but not too big. He has full range of motion while wearing this coat. It’s not stiff but is made of very durable material, much softer than the typical “carhartt” material. It’s also water resistant and warm! My husband is looking forward to wearing this coat for years to come!

Double Check
I’m 6’1 and weigh 350lbs. I bought the 3XL jacket. I wish there was an option for 3XL Tall because the jacket feels short. It goes to my waist line. Also it is snug and can barely zip up. I am currently dieting so I will not return but just a heads up.

Versatile Jacket
I’ve owned several of these. Having lost weight I gave away bigger clothes. So this is a jacket I bought several times in different sizes. It runs a little large. I currently wear a medium that is a perfect fit and a large which is a little baggy.I have a 46” chest. This jacket is a go to for me as it works in a wide range of situations while taking up a smaller amount of space.

Great Jacket; terrible fit
I wear a 2XL or 2XL big/tall in every Carhartt item I own (jackets, coats, shirts, etc.). I actually ordered a 2XL and a 2XL big/tall with the intent of keeping the one that fit best and returning the other. Neither fit well. They were ok through the midsection and ok on length, but the shoulders and arms were too tight. I returned both and exchanged for a 3XL. It was better, but still too tight through the shoulders and arms. Again, the midsection and length were good, but the shoulders and sleeves are cut too narrow. It’s a shame, too. It seems to be a VERY well made jacket, and it looks good, too. Just didn’t work because of the odd cut.

Tough as nails!
When this jacket was delivered a year ago I was less than impressed. It was as rigid as a thick wetsuit and not as warm as it was heavy, but it was the typical Carhartt construction- triple stitched in critical seams and a dense nylon shell. After a few washings it has become more playable and comfortable and I can appreciate this jacket for what it is: a tough as nails durable coat that get more comfortable the more it’s worn!

LIGHT RAIN
I really love the fit and feathers of this jacket. Purpose of the purchase was a three season light jacket that could handle wind and moderate rain. Wind-check. Stop the wind great. Rain-light rain only. Played with the dogs in a moderate rain for about twenty minutes. Kept me warm enough I didn’t even notice my shoulders were soaked. I have a heavyweight sweatshirt with rain defender that unfortunately out preforms this after years of abuse and washes. Again, absolutely love everything about this jacket except the fact it cannot handle a moderate rain. Hope mine is a one-off issue and preforms better for your needs.

Impressed on the durability !!!
So far I’m very pleased with the durability of this jacket, not so much on the delivery services.Unfortunately who ever delivered my order, left package under gate. The gate is remote operated, someone open the gate without noticing the package under the gate. This event triggered a series of events that made several people upset. When the gate started to open the package got stuck under the gate’s wheel which dragged the jacket until the motor tripped. After furthering inspecting the jacket, there are minor pinch areas, and areas where it got dirty with grease and dirt. I’m sure it’s water resistance, and will keep me warm for many years to come. I will be reaching out to Amazon services to see if they will either refund me my money or exchange the jacket that has minor damages. I believe it was incompetency from who ever delivered the package, and who ever open the gate. Regardless I would buy this jacket again.I’m am 6’01” tall, weigh 180lbs and size M (big and tall size) fits me well. The long sleeves are good even when extending my arms all the way.

Best In Class for a lot less than the high-tech stuff
Finally — a solidly-built, weather-resistant shell for the larger person. For years I purchased “big name” brands (in my 2X days) from a favorite outdoor retailer. No regrets – I’ve had great experiences with those, but the trade-off was always price — so much of the cost for those “professional” pieces is added-on to cover huge marketing budgets, over-hyped tech and pro athlete endorsements that it seems like the actual cost should be about 1/3rd or 1/4 of the full retail price. This Carhartt softshell is supremely solid — it’s built like a tank, it feels weighty, sturdy, durable and entirely competent when I tried it on the first time. I was blown away by how much more robust the fabric, lining, and construction are and the perceived value compared to those high-tech garments that cost twice what this does. Water resistance is on-par with a full-on waterproof rain jacket without the claminess. If I lived somewhere it rains a lot I’d have ordered with the hood, but for California weather this one is a winner. Ski-able, take it out on the ocean fishing or sailing in confidence, hang Christmas lights in the rain – whatever. The ONE and ONLY characteristic I noticed is how “audible” the fabric is — this isn’t a quiet softshell by any means, so if you’re looking for something really soft and quiet there are probably better choices. The exterior shell is as noisy as a heavier DWP-treated nylon.Highly recommended for quality, construction and heavy-duty use.
