Better than chopping with a knife
Bought this for chopping pecans to a good size for overnight oats. Also have used for some vegetables. Works really well. Only reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars:- When I chop a bunch of pecans at a time, the small pieces and dust start collecting on the rubber cover and it messes with the seal. The bottom will sometimes pop off while I’m in the middle of chopping and make a mess. I just put a clean towel underneath so I can collect what flew out and clear the debrie messing with the cover.- The plunger gets stuck down sometimes, but not from clogging on food, it just sticks. Can be easily pulled back up.- If I didn’t have a dishwasher, I would hate washing this by hand.- Sometimes misses some big pieces, but I’m ok with everything not being super uniform.

OK replacement
I bought this to replace an OXO that broke. The blade I feel is not as sharp. When chopping onions it still leaves large chunks.

The base did not fit
I was looking for a device to help chop nuts for my breakfast cereal. And if you filled the cup up 1/3 of the way full, it would do its job well. Unfortunately, the bottom base seems to be the incorrect size. It will not stay on the bottom and using the chopper for its purpose is frustrating. Of course, I did not use the chopper until after the return date had passed. If I used it within 30 days of purchasing it, I would have returned it. Now I am waiting to see if Cuisinart will try and make this right.

Pretty good chopper for vegetables.
The hand chopper works well for vegetables but for a finer chop, you really need an electric chopper.

Works But Makes More Work
This looked like such a good idea and does a good job on chopping small amounts, but I don’t find myself reaching for it very often because it’s more hassle than it is worth to clean.

Good but…
It’s easy to use and chops quickly but…Whatever you chop sticks to the blades and is hard to get off. It’s hard to clean. Not good for larger foods like onions. Worst is the base comes off easily spilling what you have chopped.

Great for chopping garlic, not so great on herbs!
I recently purchase this item because I had the impression that it was going to work better than the gadget I saw being advertised on FB, mainly because of its brand and size. Unfortunately, seems that I was wrong, because although it worked splendidly chopping garlic, onions, bell peppers, potatoes and even tomatoes, however, lacks the ability to chop herbs and other spices.

Cleaning can be a pain
It is easy to use and is built sturdy enough, cleaning is another story.Needless to say you need to clean it after every use, but if you don’t do it right, mold and mildew will grow and it’s ruined.I know other types of choppers that open up completely so it can fully dry.If this thing is not bone dry then you’re gonna get mildew and mold and you can smell it.When you wash it, it looks clean, but if you shake it, water is trapped in the blade part. You can try to dump it out but not all of it will come out.The other thing is food can get trapped past the blade part. You can try to take the parts off and hold the chopper on one end and press the button down to extract it so you can try to clean behind the blade part. But watch your fingers, cause if you hold it wrong, it will get your fingers.I’m just gonna try to return this item, or get a refund and just look for another design that splits open so all parts can be cleaned and dried. If this item was redesigned to consider that, it would be a solid product.

This is really pretty awkward, but once you get all the pieces to fit together right, it does a great job on small pieces of vegetables. Not that easy to clean.

Threw it away
The product felt super poorly made when I received it, the base didn’t stay on very reliably, and the spring mechanism on the pump was extremely coarse, so it would often get stuck. I found cleaning to be almost impossible to do. After chopping some onions, some of the onion got sucked up into where the blades go and ended up getting all moldy and gross and I didn’t see a good way to clean this after every use when stuff gets trapped at the base of the blades so easily.

Convenient
Way more convenient for small jobs than dragging out the food processor, and faster (and safer) than a knife. Been using it for a couple of years now, and still working perfectly. A couple pops for coarse chop, the more times you pop it, the finer the chop. Easy peasy!

Adequate but small
I had a Pampered Chef chopper for for over ten years before I dropped it on my tile floor and part of it cracked. I had hoped to replace it something similar in quality. This product comes close but is smaller and the materials are no where near the quality of my previous chopper. With that introduction I will say that this chopper serves its purpose and is adequate. I have to do more matches because it has smaller capacity and I am sure it will not hold up as well given the drop in components quality. I have kept it and use it once or twice a week. I am on the lookout for a better one, but will use this one until I do.

Nice, but . . .
Can’t take it completely apart to clean like the Pampered Chef chopper. I have to run it through the dishwasher to clean it, which I’m sure isn’t good for the plastic.

I like this one.
This is the third chopper I have bought. The first two were another brand. The plastic dish on those cracked and fell apart after a few months regular use. This one has a noticably thicker plastic dish so I am hoping it doesn’t fall apart. After a couple months of regular use I have to say I like this chopper. My only complaint is that the blade guard doesn’t seat firmly and tends to come off when I open it to put the nuts, or whatever, in it to be chopped. It snaps right back on and doesn’t get in the way, its just a little annoying. As I mentioned, much better than the one I got at the grocery store. I would recommend this one.

Works Great for Quick Chopping Onions
Works great. I don’t understand people complaining about the container being too small. I guess some people use it with the base attached? We’ve always used these things on a cutting board, so you can dance around and chop up stuff to your heart’s content. Also don’t understand people complaining it doesn’t cut soft skinned vegetables like ripe tomatoes. Of course it doesn’t cut soft skinned vegetables! It doesn’t slice, it roughly chops. It’s a zig zagged piece of metal not a knife. It’s meant for quickly chopping up firm stuff like nuts and onions.

Maggots can form behind the blade
Firstly the plastic bottoms does not stay in place. So if you are using this chopper use it on a plastic hard plate.Secondly it can get loud when using it. So if noise is an issue for you don’t buy it.Third the container that is attached to the base does not hold a large portion or serving of any food. So if you are buying to do any meal prep for more one person you may want to rethink buying another chopper that is bigger. My estimation it holds less than a regular 6oz cup/glass.The fourth and final issues will make your skin crawl literally and this is the end result of not being able to properly clean after every use. You cannot clean behind the blade and when handling any type of food whether it be nuts or herbs cleaning is important because you don’t want to be eating food or spices you had a month ago or more. You literally have boil this chopper to effectively kill bacteria or other (maggots) that have been forming from your last use. It is poorly designed for cleaning and that makes this chopper a food hazard and for this reason DO NOT BUY IT.If you did not get what was said before read this. This my experience with this food chopper. It is hard to clean especially where the blade is housed and for this reason I score this chopper low. I learned the hard way with any kitchen appliance that cleaning is important. After your first use food particles will get trapped between the blade and the spring and over time these food particles will eventually break down . Now when food breaks down they form maggots and bacteria which might end up in your next meal. Even after washing and sterilizing this chopper food particles will still remain behind and you guessed it will form maggots. The good thing is that it traps everything moving inside so nothing can escape. So if you like snacking and harvesting maggots then this for you and your family. Enjoy ☺️

Chops well when used correctly but without a dishwasher, it is a bit difficult to clean.
I am used to a Pampered Chef chopper but thought I would try this one because it is Cuisinart and stainless steel. It’s okay but there are some minor issues.First of all, keep in mind that this type of chopper isn’t a food processor. It’s great for chopping peanuts, an egg, a quarter of an onion, etc. You cannot put a whole onion in this (or the Pampered Chef chopper)! Something that size has to be cut up into smaller pieces first. This chopper chops just as well as the Pampered Chef chopper. Also, when cleaning the blades, I use a dishrag wrapped around a skewer to get up into the crevices. I have no problem getting the blades clean. The two issues I found are:1) The chopping area is a bit shorter than I am used to. I can put a hardboiled egg in whole and it chops it just fine but there was a bit more room in the Pampered Chef chopper.2) Little bits of food get up into the area above the blades and you can’t get to them to get them out. The Pampered Chef chopper splits open giving full access to the inside of the case and it is easy to clean. If you don’t put the Cuisinart chopper in the dishwasher, you will have to soak it for quite a while to ensure the inaccessible area is clear of food particles.

Great for when I’m too lazy to chop garlic the old fashion way
This chopper has truly revolutionized my cooking experience, particularly when it comes to tackling the often fiddly task of mincing garlic. With the simple yet effective design, I can effortlessly process an impressive 30-40 cloves within mere seconds, and achieving the perfect medium to somewhat fine dice is a breeze with just 20-30 swift motions. It’s a time-saving kitchen companion I wouldn’t want to be without. The only minor hiccup I’ve encountered is the occasional migration of minced garlic into the upper blade section, which can be a tad challenging to clean. Nevertheless, this small inconvenience is a small price to pay for the sheer convenience and efficiency this chopper brings to my culinary endeavors.

Better then Tears
I have to cut the onion into manageable pieces and then chop a couple of times for the pieces that didn’t get cut the first go around. Better then the tears I used to get when cutting onions. As for chopping cilantro it’s NOT something that is conducive to using the chopper, still have to use my scissors. But at the very least it’s not too bad and my hands don’t smell from onion for hours after. I’ll take it!

I was very disappointed with its ability to cho2p. It wouldn’t chop an onion. I cut the onion in half. Then cut that half into several smaller pieces. It wouldnt chop the the onion . Don’t waste your money.
Just got this and was excited to use. I used today to chop onions and to chop chicken. The onions mostly stick up in the top where the blade is. Lots of prying out chunks and re-chopping and the more would stick up in the top etc. 2nd attempt was for the grilled chicken. It was already in 1 inch cubes and I used the chopper for a finer chop. More sticking in the blade with only a small fraction actually chopping. I just gave up on the chicken. Nice idea but this won’t replace your food processor for these small jobs. I will try for some other items but likely this will end up donated.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU DON’T HAVE A DISHWASHER
The stainless steel is nice but it doesn’t add any rigidity to the product. It feels flimsy and plastic but most of these ‘slap chop’ clones do.It does what it’s supposed to do very well. The blades are sharp and the top is easy to push. The MAJOR downside is when it comes time to clean. It’s dishwasher safe, but I run my dishwasher about twice a week, and will use this multiple times in between those runs. There is no way to push the blades out and have them stay there or to open up the top section to access them. The sharp blades mentioned earlier become a bit scary while trying to keep them extended while scrubbing. I chopped some hard boiled eggs for egg salad and after 10 minutes of trying to clean I’ve given up and I guess I just won’t use it again until after I run my dishwasher again.I got this on a discount (about $24) and used a gift-card to cover the cost. If it wasn’t for that, I’d be much more upset.I would do research to find a product that’s easier to clean. Alternatively, if you run your dishwasher every day then that should be a non-issue.

I haven’t used it yet, but this build quality is disappointing
There are few things I hate more in a product than a sloppy silver paint job to make plastic look like brushed metal. I guess the marketization people know what sells, but this just convinces me to avoid Cuisinart going forward.

Great for wakin’ up tha’ neighbors !
I tried, and eventually succeeded on chopping up a slice of onion, well. enough of it. I smacked this chopper about 60 times, and it sure makes a racket ! So if you want a breakfast dish or omelette with onions, or anything that needs chopping, wait until the folks next door have left for work !I’ll try it on some nuts next, though for the grief of chopping vegetables I’ll stick with a standard butcher knife and a cutting board, and try to remember that salsa is a food group best from a jar from the grocer, despite the price.

It works well but it is hard to clean the upper portion because it doesn’t split open like the Pampered Chef version of it. The plunger is made out of plastic so there is a good chance of it getting broken.

Easy to use and effective
I really like this chopper. I’ve had a couple of other ones and they never lasted long. This one definitely work well. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the chopper a lot of times doesn’t rotate easily. It’ supposed to work that when you push down, the blades rotate, then chop. While watching it in action, I realized that the blade stays stationary a significant amount of the time, so the chopping becomes a bit uneven. I just manually rotate the chopper and it works fine. As far as cleaning, pieces of food get caught up pretty far on the blades in certain situations and that means it has to be handwashed. It came out of the the dishwasher with food on it a few times. Mostly, it happens when I chop onion.

Good to use hard to clean
Lots of garlic pieces, maybe 15-20% gets caught on the blade above the guard and you have to scoop it out. So for one clove of garlic it’s probably not worth the effort but 5 or more definitely helpful

Defective
No quality contol-shame on Cuisinart. I have a 10 yr old identical item. On the new versions, The blade guard just falls off. On My old one, the blade guard snaps in place and stays there until you remove it from its nest. The new one does not secure in its nest and just falls off when in place and inverted. I’ve tried 2 and same on both. Poor, poor quality control and instead of rejecting this lot, apparently Cuisinart decided to release a mis manufactured product to the consumer. Perhaps if someone injuries themselves and Cuisinart gets SUED they will recall this defective item!!!

Eyes watered up more than the first 5 minutes of “UP”
I bought this to chop my red onions faster, cutting down the amount of time my eyes were being assaulted.Haha……….nope.-First off, you gotta hit this thing hard. Like, harder than Whack-A-Mole! Even then, the blades won’t go through all the way.-Next, the blades are so dull that this thing ended up crushing the onions instead of chopping them, which pressed out more onion juice than just cutting them with a knife.-So now I have a tomato-less, cilantro-free, no-pepper-added pico de gallo. Fine, as long as I can still see.-Now, I open the bottom to dump them into the pan, and ALL of the pent up onion scent comes rushing out like a glitter bomb from a coworker. As each second passes, the tears fill my eyes and my vision starts to lose clarity. But because the blades didn’t cut all the way through, I have to get a knife out and do what I bought this thing to do!-The cutting board’s now filled with what looks like a scene from Game of Thrones. I don’t even know if I cut everything up because I can’t see at this point, but I finally dump everything into the pot.All done, right??? ………..nooooooo………..-I go to clean this thing, and there’s onion juice and onion pieces all up past the “blade guard” (that’s a story for another day). I now look like I just got done watching “P.S. I Love You” while trying not to slice my fingers on the blades…..should’ve just used a knife in the first place. This is another one of those “kitchen gadgets” that works great in theory but lacks in execution.Only gave it 2 stars because it was shiny.

We use the one in our home quite often and really missed it in our vacation home, so we purchased a 2nd one. Never have had to sharpen it and it is so easy to use safely, a child can definitely help in the kitchen. Plus it keeps the onion juices contained as a bonus.
