It’s ok
The Fisher-Price Preschool Pretend Play Medical Kit, a 7-piece doctor bag dress-up toy, offers a basic introduction to imaginative play for young children. While it serves its purpose adequately, there are certain aspects that fall short of expectations. On the positive side, the kit’s colorful and compact design is appealing to young kids exploring the world of pretend play. The variety of medical-themed accessories, including a stethoscope, thermometer, and syringe, adds to the overall play value and allows children to engage in role-playing scenarios. However, the durability of the materials used seems somewhat lacking. The plastic components, while vibrant, feel somewhat flimsy and may not withstand rough handling or extended play sessions. This could potentially affect its longevity, which is an important consideration for parents seeking durable toys.Furthermore, the functionality of some pieces, such as the stethoscope and thermometer, might not meet expectations in terms of realistic play. They lack the interactive elements or features that could enhance the immersive experience for children engaged in imaginative role-playing.Additionally, the limited number of pieces in the set might restrict the scope of play, leaving some children wanting more variety or accessories to expand their imaginative scenarios.

My kid liked it, nuff said
My 3 year old loved this for a birthday present so that he could act out one of his favorite cocomelon episodes that had to do with going to the doctor. He loved being able to “patch me up” from all the items in the kit. i thought a couple of the parts in the kit were kind of neat like the thermometer actually switching between the green and red options.

They don’t make them like they used to
The items barely fit into the doctor bag. The stethoscope doesn’t let you hear anything like it used to. It’s just more cheaply made than the one I had as a kid in the 80s. Like really cheap. We returned this one and got one from Lakeshore but the quality wasn’t much better on that one either. But much better than this low quality Fisher Price one. I expected more from Fisher Price.

Adorable doctor set!
A cute doctor’s bag that stays closed with velcro (easy for little hands to open and close) and a nice selection of tools, but the stethoscope will not stay in their ears (too wide) and the rubber cords won’t lay flat, keep twisting. She needs 2 hands to keep it in her ears but then has no hands left to listen for your heartbeat. Very frustrating.

Awesome for the price
Not bad for the price. The kiddo loves it and I’m up for anything that encourages her to become a doctor so she can afford to take care of me in my old age…ha!
The stethoscope is a little wonky and doesn’t stay in place, but other than that, it’s a great little set for less than $10. Has everything you really need without a ton of extra stuff that will just got lost.

Great Playset to encourages children to engage in role-playing and storytelling
This is an excellent toy for preschoolers who love to engage in imaginative play and pretend to be doctors. The set includes 7 pieces of realistic-looking medical equipment, such as a stethoscope, a thermometer, and a blood pressure cuff, that are perfect for little hands to hold and use. What I particularly appreciate about this set is how it encourages children to engage in role-playing and storytelling. It provides an excellent opportunity for kids to develop their social skills and empathy as they learn how to take care of others. The quality of the materials used in the Fisher-Price Medical Kit is also impressive. The pieces are sturdy and well-made, ensuring that they will last for a long time and withstand the rough-and-tumble play that preschoolers are known for.Overall, I highly recommend the Fisher-Price Medical Kit, 7-Piece Doctor Role-Play Set for any parent looking for a fun, educational, and high-quality toy that their child will enjoy for years to come.

Simple, Classic Pretend Play – A Bit Lacking in Quality
I’m not sure if the set I had when I was a kid was actually better or if I just remember it that way but something about this set feels cheaper than I remember from my play set in the 90s. The bag was definitely downgraded as this is just a simple bag with a small velcro strap that doesnt actually hold everything inside. The older bags were far more Durable and actually closed and held all the toys inside. This bag is mostly for part of the play and pretty useless for actually storing these toys in.As for the toys themselves, most seem to be of pretty good qualit except the stethoscope. This is where I’m not sure if my own toddler memory is deceiving me but I’m pretty sure my old FP stethoscope wasn’t always falling off and popping apart. I know they make the ear pieces big enough to where they won’t actuay go in the ears but they don’t stay up at all. And the tubes are always popping out of the plastic piece. The piece as a whole just seems cheap. The blood pressure cuff also has a very cheap feel. The piece that is supposed to spin when you squeeze the bulb doesn’t spin well if at all.The rest of the pieces I was pleased with and seemed to be of better quality. The syringe and thermometer have functional parts that seem durable and have functioned well thus far.Overall, well I do think quality is lacking I would still buy for toddlers because it’s good, classic pretend play and for the price it’s a pretty good deal (I payed about $11)

Good variety for a good price
Our son’s pediatrician recommended we buy him a toy doctor kit to work on doctor’s office anxiety. He’s still a little too much of a busy body to really focus on playing doctor, which is understandable at 2 years old. Nevertheless, he has a good idea on how to use each piece. He has a lot of fun packing everything into the bag that comes with this set, running around the living room, and then dumping it back out. He loves using the stethoscope and thermometer. Everyone and everything gets their “temperature” taken multiple times a day. We chose this set because we liked the variety of “tools” and we’re very happy with our decision. This would make a fun gift for any kid.

Comparison To Old Kit
Back when I was younger, 70s-80’s, my siblings & I had one of these kits & we loved it so when I had my son in ‘ 97′ the Fisher Price doctor kit was on my to buy list when he got a little older. This review is a comparison between the kit I bought my son in ’99’ & the new kit I just bought for my almost 3yr old niece.1. The kit I bought my son has held up for 22yrs of play between my son, his friends, my friends kids that I have babysat for over the years & all my nieces and nephews. This new set I just bought does not in any way seem like it will hold up for more then 2-3yrs before needing to be replaced.2. Carrying Bag/Box: I have to admit I’m torn on which one of these is better. The bag easier to get things in & out of because even after 22yrs the box is still hard to open & close for little ones, however the box has the cute dry erase chart on the front for kids to check things off as they make sure your not sick. So for now I’m going to use the bag but when my niece gets a little older I plan to bring the box back out.3. Blood Pressure Band: I am loving the larger band in the new set as it’s much easier to get on, the pressure box is a bit dull & boring though & I’m pretty sure if it gets stepped on by an adult accidentally it will break. The older version band is sooo small & can barely fit on a child’s lower arm but the pressure box spins inside and is just a bit more interesting then the newer one. Also, I have stepped on it many times over the years & the most that happens is my foot gets hurt so I might just let my niece pick which one she prefers.4. Thermometer: This is the real reason I bought this kit, to upgrade from a mouth thermometer to a forehead one. With the pandemic the last thing I want is kids taking turns putting this thing in their mouth or my niece putting it in her mouth & then trying to get me to let her take my temp & vis versa. The older one is sturdier then the new one but both are cute. For now the new one will go in the bag & the old one inside the box & into a storage bin.5. Eye and Ear: I prefer the older one because it has a piece of hard, clear plastic in the middle to make looking thru it better and is WAY more durable in feel. The new one feels like it will shatter the first time it is stepped on.6. Band-aid and Shot: Both items are comparable in both sets. The new band-aid is slightly smaller then the older one but it’s just barely noticeable. I am putting both band-aids in the bag and the old shot because I like the look of the old one better.7. Stethoscope: The new stethoscope is horrid!! The ear buds are HUGE & that’s saying a lot because they have always on the larger side. I remember the set I had as a kid didn’t fit in our ears & my sons stethoscope buds are to large to fit in the ear also. The new one has no sound to it were as the old one did. The one I had as a kid & my sons you could hear a heart beat with, it wasn’t super strong sound but you could hear it. Even with the foam padding disintegrating, due to age, you can still make a out light heart beat sound. The way the upper part of the new ones curve in at the top part also adds to problems of keeping the Stethoscope in the ears. Like some other reviewers said they did I went & bought a real toddler stethoscope. I do plan to re-add foam to the old sets stethoscope because that piece is the one the kids fight over so having 2 were a heart beat can be heard would be nicer. The new set stethoscope will go in the box and into storage. In the end I like the older Fisher Price doctors kit more then the newer one. The quality of the newer set is just not there & seems to be designed to break within a few years or the first time an adult steps on it by accident. I know they design the ear buds on the stethoscope to be large enough that if a kid pulls them off another they’re not being pulled out of the ear just off & so kids can’t stuff them up there nose but the new buds are just much to large and to flat. The newer shot & thermometer are the sturdiest part of this set & that’s not saying a whole lot. If you have or can find an older set I’d say that would be a better use of money then buying this new set. The foam in most older sets is probably gone, which is a turn off, but you can replace it or just buy a working stethoscope for children(the one I bought was only $7).

Fun pretend play
This was the biggest hit of Christmas for my 2 1/2 year old—she didn’t want to open anything else. She loves that the blood pressure cuff spins when she pumps the balloon, and that the thermometer changes “readings” when she pushes the button.

Great for opening up!
My daughter hated the drs! We started playing Dr with her and she was an angel at the dr. She didn’t make a peep, except when the dr took her sock off. It’s because we never took socks off while we played.

Fantastic toy for toddler checkups!
Our grandson is crazy about this Doctor’s kit. It is very similar to the original one I had for my kids 35 years ago. It helps a child understand what the doctor or nurse is doing when they have a doctor’s visit, and I believe makes them less fearful. Our little guy likes to give his stuffed animals a checkup, and especially loves to take temperatures and put the bandage on boo boo’s. This is a great investment and so very cute!

Stethoscope does not stay on
Stethoscope would not stay on… The plastic cording was wound so tight – even after trying to straighten out – that it wouldn’t stay on my granddaughters ears, and if she tried to put the other end on her doll, it immediately pulled the earpieces out because it was so short and so tightly wound

Grandkids love it
My granddaughters love playing with the set like this at my house, that was their Dad’s when he was a little boy. This new set is updated and doesn’t come with the nice heavy duty box that the old one was in. They do enjoy playing doctor with it, and “fixing” us.

Helped my toddler with doctor visits
My two-year-old has been historically, terrified of being at the doctors office. The moment they start to examine him he loses his mind. After playing with this pretend Dr. kit for a few weeks, he was really comfortable at his two year check up. Even had fun. Helped that he recognized all of the tools that they used and got to hold his at the same time.

Great doctors kept for children
My granddaughters had a little rough go of going to the doctor lately. Also I am a nurse and I was planning on getting her a doctors kit maybe when she was a year or so older because she’s only 22 months right now but we decided to get this for her a little bit earlier than planned to help her feel more comfortable at the doctors. This is a great doctors kit she loves the thermometer because it’s a temporal thermometer and has a button to push on it so it’s very interactive for children. The blood pressure cuff has Velcro on it so you can attach it around arm and when you squeeze the bulb on it it has the dial on it and that spins around so there’s a cause-and-effect that is great for children. You can hear a little bit through the stethoscope when you talk into it. It has a lot of great little doctor tools in it and my granddaughter loves playing with this. I think this is really going to help her feel more confident when she goes to the doctors now and she gets to be like her Nana when she sees Nana go to work in her scrubs with her stethoscope. This is a great toy for very young kids and even older ones! Well worth the money. Very well-made and I would definitely purchase this again and give us a gift.

My 3 year old granddaughter loves a cartoon called Doc McStuffins and I thought she might enjoy this Dr. Kit. It was indeed a HIT!! She checks everyone’s temperature and BP multiple times a day, all while the stethoscope is around her waist!! Yes, her waist! It’s hilarious! Anyway, she LOVES it!

Syringe arrive damaged
The media could not be loaded.
The whole set is so cute but I am giving a lower rating because the syringe arrived damaged/broken. It’s as if some of the plastic melted in it or something, causing it not to slide like it’s supposed to. (See my video) All other pieces arrived in good condition and the other moving parts work fine. I would return the whole package to get a new set with a working syringe, but we bought this as a gift for my niece and don’t have time to get a new one in the mail before her birthday party tomorrow. If the company would send me a new working syringe, I’d gladly bump up my rating to 5 stars!
