Good quality but very thick
I like the fiber content – high in cotton which is good for hot weather. But the sock is very thick, which makes it almost too warm for hot weather. The thickness does make it very cushioned. The qualtiy is excellent – I have some of these socks that are 10 years old and they have gotten thinner which makes them more comfortable.

Tight tops
I’ve worn this style socks for many years, but it had been quite a while since I’d ordered new ones. Like some other reviewers, I was surprised by how the fit had changed. The older versions had a very snug foot, and a comfortable top. These new socks have a looser foot and the top is extremely tight. I didn’t know how to rate the “fit,” since part of the sock is too large and part is too small. They are still OK, and a good weight, but I would much prefer the old snug foot, so that my sock doesn’t shift around as I slide my foot into the shoe. It would also be nice if the tops didn’t feel like they would cut off my circulation. Why do so many companies take a great product and fiddle around with it so it’s not as nearly as good?

Just needs socks as much as I need…..
Gold Toe socks are the only ones that I trusted for a long time to wear. It really warms me up during the cold temperature. And they are firmly hold when I go around — so I don’t worry about feeling that socks drop down (If you understand what I mean).

Band is too tight
I love the cushion around the foot but the elastic band is a little too tight.

Wish the Gold Toe Ultra Tee men’s socks were available
I purchased these woman’s Gold Toe Ultra Tec white because the men’s version hasn’t been available for a long time except in gargantuan size. While the overlap of a women’s size 9 is supposed to be a men’s size 7.5, these JUST fit. They may shrink in the wash and that would be problematic. But, for now, they’ll have to do. Also, they are NOT as cushioned as the men’s version. Slightly above a normal crew thickness. Height on the calf is perfect, though and I wish they would be offered in men’s at this height.

1/2 height sock
Not what I was expecting. Length is about 1/2 the height of what I consider a ‘Full Length’ sock. Still they are a nice pair of socks, just not as “tall” as you’d expect.

Seems to run small
Am a womens size 8. Read the Q&A on the page – wherein it read this size medium fits size 7 to 9.It looks small and fits now – my concern is when I wash it. Cotton on 1st wash shrinks a bit. Will come back after worn and washed – a u pdate this review.

I love these socks
These socks are great. I’ve had others that squeeze my foot too much for others that are too loose. I think of them as my “goldilocks socks.”

Let your feet breath with cotton
I love cotton socks. This are an old brand. So glad you are still here. My grandmother sold these as a sales person at a department store. She always recommended this brand for quality. So nice to know you can still buy cotton socks. Wish they also came a little thinner as another option. Both would be nice to have.

Product Changed
I have been purchasing this exact item from Amazon since 2014. I always go back to my order history and hit re-order this item and it’s been the same listing. But when I re-ordered this item in Feb. 2022 I was super disappointed after I opened and washed two packs of these Gold Toe socks. They have changed. There is much more stretch to them. And fit different in the heel area East well as the toe area. But I am most disappointed in the fact that there is much more stretch to them and less of a thick cotton feel that I have always been used to. I am so bummed they have changed these as they have been my favorite go to sock for years, obviously. I don’t take time to write reviews often but I’m so disappointed in the new style that I felt it necessary. 🙁

too large in the foot area, and could be softer
i wear a womens 8, these are definitely too baggy in the toe and heel area to wear with my sneakers. i have to pull them up and make sure there is no excess fabric. they are snug on the ankles though and even leave lines sometimes.

Really nice quality sock
These are really nice quality socks. I’ve only had them for about two months and I can tell they are good quality. They wash very well and hold their shape. The only reason I gave it four stars is I’m only 5’1” and I wish they were a little longer.

Warm, thick socks, but attract lint.
One time through the dryer with dark cloths and they were covered in lint.

Way too Tight through the heel and ankle. Beware!
Update: these socks are unbearably tight around the ankles, causing deep welts. I do not have even remotely thick ankles and I can’t wear these socks for more than a few minutes at a time without becoming very uncomfortable. I wish I had saved the packaging in order to return them.Initial review: About what I’ve come to expect from Gold Toe. This is a great, mid-weight sock made of very soft cotton. My only complaint is the the part that covers from the ankle up is very tight, so much so that it leaves pressure impressions in my legs and ankles. I guess these won’t be slipping down!

Happy with these
I needed warmer socks to wear in my chilly office. I wear gold toe for my low cut athletic socks and they last very long so I thought to check for thicker and higher socks. These are a little pricey per pair, but are high quality. I wear a size 6.5/7 and the 6-9 size fits perfectly. They are a bit thick, comfy, and warm. Works well to wear with my chelsea boots.

nice socks; fairly thick
I can’t find 100% cotton socks like I want. They just don’t make St. John’s Bay anymore. These are acceptable, although perhaps just a tad thicker than my idea. They aren’t the thickest I’ve tried, but are not super thin socks if that’s what. you’re looking for

Thick cushion, great for walking
These Goldtoe socks are thick and feel really nice to walk in, without being so thick that I have trouble with sneakers or boots. They might be too thick for ballerina flats, but any other covered shoe should be ok including Clarks heels. Still good after four washes.

Goldtoe socks
Only giving 3 stars as the description says that they are thick. In my book these are not thick, and I was looking for that as I have issues with the bottom of my feet. I haven’t worn them yet, but I can tell that I would’ve liked them thicker. I will keep them. The size that came says fits shoe size 6 to 9 and I wear a nine and they did fit perfect.

Don’t fall down
I am adding to the current number of pairs that I have. Currently, I have now I have 6 pairs. I usually have a horrible time finding socks to do what I like for them to do “like stay up”. They are slight thick which I need since I have narrow & thin feet. Fits in my shoes with a medium width.. Love them & hope they don’t quit making them too soon.

A thick sock
Other reviewers mentioned the thickness of these socks was somewhere between a thin trouser sock and an athletic sock. I do not agree. These are Definately a thicker sock! I was looking for something thinner to wear with flats for work, but will keep them for a cozy sock to wear with sneakers or boots.

Why do womens’ socks cost more
The socks are fine, but my husband got 6 pair for just a few cents more than I paid for 3. The only difference is that women have slightly less fabric in theirs

Thicker socks
I have worn this brand of socks for many years. The thickness is the main reason for my purchase. I get the support for my feet that I need. These socks also maintain their shape and last for quite awhile. Wish there were more colors, not just black and white.

Fits okay but less cushioned than before
Quality is still there, however seems like less cushioning. I need to put a thin insert into the shoe so it doesn’t slip after walking a few blocks. Us folks w/size 5 or smaller feet need more petite (children’s?) sizes or put back same cushioning as before.

The absolute BEST socks!
I’m on my feet all day for work and I only wear Goldtoes. By far my favorite brand of socks. They’re comfortable and durable enough to last you YEARS if you wash them properly. I’d give it 6 stars if I could.

Best socks ever
I wear black high top sneakers for working out and it’s hard to find good black crew socks for women. These socks are the most comfortable socks and last years! They are mostly cotton 79% wear well and are pretty thick vs other brands that are mostly nylon or polyester. I couldn’t find these on the gold toe website and I hope they don’t discontinue. Glad to have found them on Amazon.

Nice, warm and comfy
While they seem to be slightly thinner than the gold toe socks I’d had in the past, they are acceptable. After years of daily wearing and exercise, my old gold toe socks were starting to wear out. I bought a cheaper thinner brand of sport sock a short time ago, and they were already wearing out with holes in the heal after only a few short months. I expect these to at least last longer than that, though I’m not sure if they are completely up to the old standard. We shall see…

Hope they wear ok. Wasn’t the socks like I’ve bought in past. They are thicker. Maybe it was my error.

Quality
For years I have searched for women’s socks that are all about quality, good fit, being long-lasting, and comfortable. I think these Gold Toe socks fit the bill. I hesitated to buy them in the past because of the price, but if I would have bought these long ago I could have saved money by not wasting it on all the other lower quality socks I bought to try out. I tried all the big brand names in stores from the cheap to the expensive, I tried store brand socks and then I tried some others online, and these Ultratec crew socks put them all to shame. Some of the other socks I bought in the past tried to be feminine and soft, which just made them slide around in my shoes uncomfortably, plus they wore down easily at the friction points. Some were athletic socks but they were too thin (even though the packaging claimed they were thick) and also prone to wearing out quickly. Either these sock companies think we women are always too dainty to need good socks or they just don’t care about quality. The Gold Toe Ultratec socks definitely aren’t dainty and fragile! They are thicker than normal socks but still my shoes fit fine, so they aren’t too thick. At first I thought the socks (size 9-11) were just a tad big (I’m a size 7 US) but I washed them in hot water and dried them on high heat and so I think they shrunk just a tiny bit, enough to fit better. Also the top part of the sock above the ankle stays in place without being constricting, so that is good too.Overall, I would definitely recommend these socks to anyone who is unhappy with the average to poor quality of most other socks. They are worth the price.

Not as thick as they use to be.
I like these socks: However, they have made them thinner than last year. They are holding up good so far without “balling up” inside. Basically, if you are on a budget these will work. We get what we pay for. The toes and heals are reinforced. I personally would not give these as a gift. I would by some that are thicker for winter.
