Too Small
I’m 5’9 and weigh 208 and usually wear a 36-38 size pants. Order the large and they were too small. Should have ordered the XL. Liked the trunks, just did not fit comfortably.

XXL and 2X are not the same. Mystery solved.
There are around 100,000 reviews for the various Kanu Surf Swim Trunks. I bought the Havana style, but I suspect sizing info. applies to their entire product line. I read numerous reviews questioning/commenting on the difference between XXL and 2X. The general consensus is that they are the same. That is not correct.Kanu Surf offers both “Regular and Extended sizing.” XXL is their largest “regular size”. 2X is their smallest “extended size.” Personally, I found their “regular size” line to be cut small. I usually wear a XX. I could not get the XXL over my hips. They are that small! On the other hand, the extended size 2X fit me well. So, I think their “extended size” line seems true to fit, perhaps a bit generous. I also tried the 3X and it was way too big for me. So the take home message is if you are a “regular size,” buy one size larger than your usual fit. If your are an “extended size,” buy your usual size. The product itself is of good quality. Length is at or just above knee for my height (6’0). Inner mesh is comfortable material and fit. Two side pockets and a cargo type pocket with Velcro flap for a cell phone, etc. Small inside pouch at waistband for a key. Standard quick-dry type lightweight material. Large assortment of colors.I am deducting a star because the manufacturer should explain what their “Regular and Extended Sizes” mean, so the customer doesn’t have to buy multiple suits to figure it out.

Runs small
My husband like the look and feel and the pattern of the shorts but they were a little small on him for an extra large. Also they had a netting in them and I didn’t notice that was listed when I bought them he doesn’t like netting in them, so I’ll be returning sadly.

No stretch, more crunchy cheap material
Ordered several brands of swim trunks for my husband to try and these were his least favorite. These have no stretch and are a more crunchy material than the others we tried. He especially needed stretch and nice material for thick athletic thighs. Tyhengta brand ended up being the winner! Very stretchy and nice for similar price

Size Down
These were a little to big but the color was a perfect match for my bathing suit. I’d purchase again, just a size smaller.

worked well in the first year
I am an older relatively fat person. I was looking for swim trunks that would not fall off my belly when I swim. It worked well for the first summer. A year later the drawstring is not as elastic as it has been.

Can’t find them in stores.
I had some real worries about finding a pair of swim trunks my size, and I feel like these have worked out pretty well. One of the very real problems with being a large guy is that the sizes stop just short of where they need to be in regular stores. Clothing stores for larger folks have, it seems, a 100% markeup- which is annoying, embarassing and insanely expensive. Regular size folks can find a t shirt or something someplace for $10-$20. Double that for large folks., if you can find them.Ubiquitous items like bathing suits and bathrobes? Forget even looking anywhere but stores specifically for large folks. These are a perfectly normal pair of swim trunks. At “the fat guy store” they would be over $50. They are good, basic shorts, and it shouldn’t be a big deal, but, somehow it is. It’s hard to explain the enjoyment of just being able to make a normal purchase, of a normal thing, and have it work out.The price was what I would consider good- in the range a regular sized person would spend for a similar item. The quality was good. Idon’t usually write reviews, but I am so pleased with the normalcy of this whole transaction that I have written this positive review. I get to go to the pool. I’m happy.

Good Trunks
These replaced a pair of trunks from another brand that failed spectacularly. These trunks are comfortable and are holding up to daily indoor pool use.

Stains on the netting
I’m not sure if someone had this product before and sent it back after they had an accident in them, but there are gross brown stains in the netting. The swim trunks themselves are fine, but the netting for whatever reason is disgusting.

Nice but true to other reviews
Revised, wore one time and will never wear again, still have a second pair in the bag and I will not be opening it, I really dislike giving bad reviews, there is really something funky going on withe the inside liner, the shorts part is nice but the liner caused the back to sag, pinched, grabbed was completely uncomfortable the whole day I wore them at the beach. I do believe if you go up double your size the liner may not cause issues, buy by the the shorts will look as if you are wearing a hot air balloon. Still need two new swim suits, may go to the dreaded mall, so I can try them on, we i go to replace these.Out of the package, was thinking not bad, look well made. Triple sew on the side seem, that little pocket on the inside mesh liner, large waist string. Typically a size W46, but can go up or down 2 inches and got a 2XL and the shorts are plenty big and comfortable. Like others have said, the mesh liner is a bit tight, the mesh liner fits more like the Tighty Whitey underwear. But they work out fine, in the water. I must say if I had got a size smaller I would have had a problem with the mesh liner. If you want a loose mesh liner, you may want to go up a size but the shorts maybe huge if you do go up a size. Really have nothing bad to say the look and fit as well as others I have paid double the cost of these.

Nice But Not Style Pictured
Kanu is a great brand. However, the Jake Pink style pictured is not what we received. We got a cargo style of Jake Pink instead. They are longer and have large, velcro front pockets and no back pocket. Not a problem for my son but apparantly this can happen. The Miami Blue trunks we ordered, however, are the style pictured.

Fits perfect! Now adays, mens shorts and swim trucks seem to be getting shorter. Husband hates that style and wanted normal swim trucks that go down to his knees. These were perfect.

Fits 4XBL size just great.
Ordered two of these when I forgot to pack a swimsuit to the beach, and it arrived in decent 2-day time. Material feels like a swimsuit, and it fit great. Even held some seashells and rocks my daughter handed to me from the ocean. Overall would highly recommend for a good basic no-frills swimsuit.

Comfortable swim trunks at a decent price
The length of the swim trunk comes to just above the knee. The tie on the inside is nice. Only wish the mesh lining was a little tighter. Overall I am satisfied and would buy again.

Price and quality
To review the Kanu Surf Men’s Havana Trunks I will compare and contrast them to another, more expensive pair that is also available on Amazon; Speedo Men’s Marina Core Basics Watershorts. The Speedo’s I have had for awhile and worn about 20 to 25 times. The Kanu’s are newer and only worn twice.Size: Both are identical in size and fit with a 7 inch inseam and 20 inch side seam. Some reviewers have complained that they are longer than pictured; a tall model and long legs might explain that. I’m fairly short and both Kanu’s and Speedo’s are at my knees when worn at my waist just above the navel.Features: Both have elastic waistbands with drawstring, two side pockets, a small coin/key pocket and a cargo pocket with Velcro closure. Both have mesh lining for support and to form the pockets.Appearance: The Kanu’s are plain in a solid color, stitching to match and draw string on the inside. The Speedo’s have contrasting stitches, piping along the side seams and pockets, a logo on the left hip, and drawstring on the outside, laced through 4 eyelets. The Speedos look snazzier.Quality: I can’t say that there is a difference in fabric quality between the two; there could be but I don’t have the ability to tell the difference. Quality of construction is comparable. There is, however, a noticeable difference in quality on the inside of the two pairs. The mesh material on the inside looks and feels much better in the Speedos. Other reviewers have also noted the lack of quality on the inside of the Kanus.Price: Kanu’s are priced at $15.50. The Speedo’s vary according to size and color – mine were $24.98 but could cost someone else $40 plus.I can recommend the Kanu’s without reservation. The price is right and the quality for that price is impressive.

Comfortable for cruise wear
Works well as trunks and as shorts for large part of a cruise. Pockets don’t empty when sitting.

They run very large
Runs large, need to size down. Couldn’t wear for the trip I ordered them for unless I wanted to get arrested for indecent exposure, as they would inevitably fall down when the first wave hit.

No apparent difference between 2X and XXL
I’m 6’4″ and 300lbs. I ordered both the 2X and the XXL sizes in navy blue in order to compare them. I can find no difference between the two. Both are roomy and feel nice, the mesh feels good as well. I thought maybe the difference would be in length but they are both the same. The picture makes it look like they are above the knee but they are really right at or even probably below the knee if you don’t have real long legs. I tend to prefer shorter length for actually swimming in, but for wearing around or sitting on the beach/poolside the length is great.

Soft material and good look
This is for my husband. I like the side pockets and the secure one on the thigh for valuables. I like how the strings don’t hang out and the elastic waist. This suit had a price tag on it that was higher than what I paid so it was a really good deal
