Loved one with Demenita
This product was purchased for use by a family member who has dementia. Finding the right phone that does not have internet/WiFi access was important due to lack of “safety” while on the Web. This phone has met that requirement. As with any new phone, set up was long in getting the contacts in for the family member. Walking them through the use process wasn’t too bad, but it’s the memory part that can be an issue, so this phone has helped in that area. Change is not always easy – just a reminder.

Not that easy for seniors.
I figured the menu layout would be simple and easy to use, for seniors that might have difficulty with technology. But teaching my mom how to use the contact list and make a call, let alone navigate messages and voicemail, proved to be far too tough. She literally has to make like 4 keypresses and do some scrolling in order to make a call from her contact list, and I couldn’t find any way to set up quick dials. It was even frustrating for me to delete messages. The key functions like call are not labeled “Call”, but “OK”, and not “End”, but “Back”. Seems like things could have been laid out much easier and more clearly.I should have gotten here a smart phone I guess.

Easy to use.
I’m in my 70’s and have trouble with all electronics. When my Walmart flip phone, G3, was discontinued, I had trouble managing the newer type phones and didn’t like the bigger size either. I love my little Jitterbug and it’s only slightly bigger than my old flip phone. You can’t get confused or lost in the screens, all you have to do is go press the “okay” button for everything. Easy peasy! The red color makes it easy to see it. I also love that the front screen give the time, date, day of the week and charging percentage left.

some problems with phone and carrier
i wanted to get away from the smart phone to expensive so i got this flip phone went to activate it i bought the $19.99 plan and i was 50 cents shy of the total cause when i get to the total order page it for $27.89 so I thought why the extra sent an e mail to Lively and they said federal fees and such so i go back and purchase the other plan for $14.99 thinking i can get it on my card balance I get to check out and the total is the same how can that be and that extra they added well it every month so instead of $19.99 like Track phone would be its $27.89 they said it was tax too we have no sales tax in Oregon so i went to track phone got a sim card for $0.99 and going to pay $19.99 a month and no more. Now as for the phone the phone itself right away it would not let me into contacts screen would go black and stay that way till you closed the flip up part took two calls to fix that now it dont do that but it lags when texting mainly to receive a txt sometimes it take 30 seconds or more to open the txt other times its instant and if you txt a lot remember its like to the phones before 2007 a number pad with 3 letter to each number each key has to be pressed 1 to 3 times to spell any word

My bf is 81 and may need this type of cell with just the push of a button, he gets help right away. There has been a time he accidently hit the emergency button and they caked with in a min to see if he needed help.

Well Made, Long Battery Life and Good Sound
I also own a regular Android Smart Phone. I like to have two. I use the Jitterbug when I go for walks around the lake since it is more compact. The camera is very good too. I really like the 5 Star emergency feature on the phone. In an emergency they can track your exact location. They have all my medical history if necessary to use. Sound quality is good and volume loud. I am tech savy so this phone is not hard for me to use. That said, this is not a phone for an elderly person who is not at all tech savy. Too complex in that it asks for a Yes of No press many times and the forward and back buttons would definitely confuse my elderly mother. Not to imply that older people cannot be tech savy, but if they are not too much into modern technology then this is not the phone for them. The emergency 5 Star feature, however, may override the complexity of the other features.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! Major system issues! No good for older individuals!
This company is currently having major system issues and they do not have any idea when they will be resolved. Phone does not receive calls. Phone must be turned off/back on to receive a call or place a call once a call has been placed. Lively reports there is a software issue they are troubleshooting. But they have had this issue for over two months. Also, signal strength went from 4 bars to….basically none. It seems like they have renegotiated the airspace they lease and at least for my 82 year old mother, this has resulted in almost no service. Is the interface senior friendly? Not really. It took my mother a solid month before she knew how to use it. Sure, it’s somewhat simple. But for seniors with any form of limitations (which my mother does NOT have), I would say this interface needs to be WAY more simple. Also, the battery back is supposed to come loose by “gently lifting it with a fingernail”. HA! 3 hours into trying to lift it with fingernails, a letter opener, rulers, and a knife, the phone is just warped and we still haven’t opened it and it appears the only way to open it is to destroy the phone. And frankly, I look forward to desyroying this phone.

2 months in and so far no problems. we bought this for an 80 two-year-old woman who uses the hell out of stuff is hard on it and often drops things in the toilet. so far it has held up well it is very loud she can hear it fine and the buttons are big enough she doesn’t hit all the others and start getting mad.

Not great for older people
Got this for my mother and it is fairly easy to use, but navigating to the settings in order to change the ringer is a little too complex for her. Display is large text and keys are easy to use just wish the settings were easier

Perfect for us older people who use phones to make phone calls.
Most people are obsessed with their phones. My wife and I (we own two of these Jitterbugs) are not. We use are phones to make phone calls – usually to each other – and this little flip-phone device handles the job just fine. PS: we are in our 70’s and 80’s and read books for entertainment and education.

User friendly
Love the phone and the peace of mind it gives me. My husband has dementia and I needed a smart phone to track him. He will NOT give up a flip phone! This phone tracks him and gives me updates regarding his movements from the house. It has Alexa on it to make his calls for him. It has an emergency button should he need help immediately. There is a nurse hotline for him should he need it. The cost is less than when I had a phone for him on VerizonThis is exactly what we needed for him to stay in contact with friends and familyI highly recommend the phone and the service i received in setting it up and using it.

Volume button in bad place, not easy to get around
Not a big fan.Cons: I dont really see how this is any different than any other flip phone. To call someone on your contacts list took 4 clicks!Could not turn off text option. The biggest issue was the volume buttons on the side always got in the way. Every day my mom would mute the phone by mistake while holding it up to her ear to speak. There is an option to lock it into max volume we figured out later. My mom never got use to it. Speaker was poor quality.Pros:you could change the color if the highlight. You can lock in Xtra large font, you can set up speed dial which came in really handy but very hard to find that option. Cover is red so easier to find in the house.Mediocre at best.

Good phone
This would be ideal if you were given a number that wasn’t just recently used by someone else. I have to keep blocking texts and messages even after letting these people know that the previous owner of the phone number doesn’t have the number anymore. Other than this, it’s good for my 90 yr old father.

Hate your aged parents? Then buy this phone
I bought this for my 90 year old mother because it is the #1 phone for seniors. Or is it? This is a cheap, horrible phone with low battery life, absolutely terrible navigation. I mean really terrible. Unusable. Also the buttons are tiny with even tinier delineations for numbers and letters. Texting is a joke… or hell. I can rant all I like about what a terribly designed phone this is, but for an elderly person this should be a modern lifeline and tool for connecting to family… but instead it is just another cheap fraud that frustrates every effort. Honestly if you want to see your elderly parents in tears, then buy this phone. You know that heart-wrenching look that an older person can get when they just cannot do something and are so frustrated that they get a far off look like maybe it’s just all too much? Buy this phone for them and tell them to put in their contacts… then you can see the look I mean. The type feature makes you tap 1-3 times per very tiny key to get a letter, and an even smaller tiny key at the base is needed to shift from capitals to standard to numerical. These keys are 1/4 the size of my pinkie nail.Do they have arthritis? Do they forget things? Do they read only with glasses? Do they have fingers larger than pencils? If so, this phone is unusable.I think of all the elderly people opening up this gift excitedly thinking it will help them connect—- and then the frustrated tears and sadness that follow. This is a sham and disgrace. Shame on you. The world is tough enough on the elderly, and you just took it one step further. If you hate your parents and want to see them break down in tears, then buy this phone.

Good Features for Visually Impaired
I bought this for my elder father as a “backup” to his landline. He has vision problems so I spent time researching phones and the Jitterbug came up time and time again. So I ordered it and I’m really glad I did. My Dad can answer or hang up the phone by simply flipping it open/close… he doesn’t have to “feel” for the right button to answer the phone. Also, I was able to program the phone numbers for immediate family to a single keystroke which also makes it easy for him to make calls. I saved money by purchasing the phone through Amazon and had no problem activating it with Lively. Highly recommend this phone if you are looking for a cell phone for someone who is visually impaired or elderly.

Concerning Security Policy
I called customer service today. They answered quickly and the person was very friendly — so far a very good experience. Then the person, before they would answer any questions, asked me for my account number (no problem) and…my password. They claim it’s their policy and there’s no way for them to provide service without knowing this.Asking for and providing an account password is essentially the cardinal sin in online security. This is an awful policy. Banks don’t even require this. By requiring this, the are demonstrating their info security immaturity as an organization.

Phone is fine, customer service not so good….
I bought this for my elderly mother. She loves the larger buttons and easy to read font but porting over her old number has not gone so well. When I called customer service, their callback-que service did NOT call me back (at all). Some of the customer service agents were understanding, polite and as helpful as they could be (without resolving the issue), one was rude and more to the point an outright B..ch! Hopefully, I’ll get the issue resolved and never need to call the customer service again. Also, I had entered several of her contacts manually but the next day they were all gone. It’s possible she hit something to delete the all but she said she didn’t and she never cleared all the numbered on her old phone.

Difficult for a non-tech to startup and navigate
The phone is good looking. But I’m finding it a bit confusing to operate as I’m presently using an Apple phone. I got this for my wife who is visually impaired so will probably have even more difficulty. We will work with it now that we have purchased it. I had anticipated the cost for operation would be considerably less than Apple, however it does not look to be.

they changed the buttons
This is my mothers 3rd Jitterbug phone. they last about two years, I figure it is better to get a new phone rather than a new battery, because the phones are not the highest quality anyway. But it has been very difficult for my 91 year old mother to use this latest phone because they CHANGED THE BUTTONS!!! Why? Why? Why? Don’t they know these phones are for old people who have difficulty with learning ANYTHING new?! it has taken about a month of “phone school” for my mother to be able to use this phone!

Dangerously unreliable after 1 year
Wife here. I am a disabled person confined to a wheelchair. I needed a phone that would reach my husband when he is not at home and receive calls from my son and brother who live nearby. This phone began to be unreliable within a few months of buying it. When my brother and son called, they often could not hear our responses. Naturally I needed a phone that was simple and that I could rely upon when I was alone in my apartment and vulnerable. This flip phone failed to connect to my husband’s Lively Jitterbug smart phone when he was on a walk within our apartment complex and failed to complete calls to my son and brother. Lively staff told us the flip phones were not as reliable as smart phones. The help staff had originally offered to replace it if problems continued but refused to do so as the service continued to decline. The lack of reliability is actually dangerous for me. I will never spend a dollar on a Lively product ever again. It was inexpensive (believe it was $39, maybe on a promotion). When we called to try to get a replacement, they kept pushing to offer us a phone for $151. This to me in my private opinion is getting close to bait and switch tactics.

indistructable
super easy to use. I was upset that i accidentally left the phone in my pants pocket and put in in the washing machine. I found it when I emptied the washer.. very upset to say the least. My wife told me to bury it in rice, sounds crazy, but I did and left it overnight. Next morning I turned it on and it was dead. Was about to order a new phone, then thought maybe it needs to charge. the rest is history. After charging it works like new. still can’t believe it but it works great and it has a small crack in the window!!!!

Not as simple as the old Jitterbug flip phone
I purchased this for my elderly mother. It is much more difficult to operate than the old Jitterbug flip phone; more steps to take to make a call, names and numbers come up alphabetized, and the font seems much smaller. My mother hates it. I think for a senior phone, simpler is just better, and the old style was much simpler.

It’s oj
It never really got used. My husband wanted the same number as he had with an AT&T number. They -the jitter bug people- said it would take 3/5 business days to contact the the original provider to change over etc blah blah. Long story short he kept his old phone. The buttons, I think should be higher instead of flat.
