Taught my youngest his letters
My son LOVES this specific magnadoodle. He is on his 3rd one (because he lost the others). He loves the songs and loves to copy the letters and shapes it shows. He learned his letters REALLY early with this fun toy!

Has potential but missed the mark
This is a cute learning toy that has the potential to be an awesome learning device for consistent use—Except that its creators forgot that 1. Not all kids are right handed. Some are lefties & Some tots are still trying to determine which hand feels better for them. As a lefty myself, I cant begin to describe how frustrating it was a child to never have space to write bc everything was made for the right side. I digress… 2. The volume is hardly there. We can barely hear what the toy is saying and its frustrating at times because how often are you going to have an absolutely quiet house/car? Not often. Having the toy made with an adjustable volume and maybe even an aux port to assist with the hearing dilemma wouldve been great. Now, I do really appreciate the good about this toy. Its engaging , creative & has many different settings the LO can play with. The bottom erase slide doesnt bother too much (yet). A great fix would be an updated version that has a longer string and a slit at the top attachment point that allows the string to move freely to the other side of the board for lefty kids. Also including an adjustable volume with an aux port (also great for hard of hearing kids). This toy gets a 3/5. My son likes it but theres room for improvement.

Perfect for learning how to write
We have been teaching our 4 year old her alphabet and wanted to start teaching her how to write the letters. This is an awesome and fun learning tool. She loves it. She doesn’t want to learn using a pencil and paper and won’t try very hard that way. With this, she actually enjoys it, focuses on her letters, and tries really hard to draw them correctly. The best part is you can easily program the child’s name into it and it teaches them how to write their name letter by letter. It’s also a really fun tool to teach them how to draw mess free. So far with a months worth is use, it clears perfectly with an easy swipe of the knob thing. When looking for a similar items in a few stores, the other versions were smaller with much smaller writing/drawing area. This one is just perfect. The only drawbacks are the pen cord is a little too short. The pen can reach to the opposite edge of the drawing section, but that’s it. Would be nice for an extra inch of so of cord. Also when the electronic part is turned on, if you don’t hit any buttons after about 2-3 minutes, it automatically shuts off. That’s not enough time when a preschooler is just learning each letter. It’s great that you can draw or write on it without turning it on. Highly recommend for any preschooler learning how to write.

Good writing toy
This toy is an ok gift definitely not what I thought it would be. As for the writing/drawing aspect it’s clear & easy to use. The 2 stamps you get are a little hard to push & pull out to use for younger ages. The only issues I found that made me give less stars on my review is the pen/string in my opinion should’ve been placed in the middle of the board not the right side. Makes it difficult for Left-Handed children to write. (the string doesn’t give much slack at all). For a young child expecially if they can’t read &/or have learning disabilities they have to have help everytime they use it to press the ON button, then OK, then the activity they want to play or they can’t do anything. It just keeps wanting to confirm their spelling of their name each time. Also this is the only toy that even though it’s OFF has drained the battery like 5 Times in a month. So basically I bought a Writing Board with No music/buttons because I refuse to keep putting batteries in constantly. Otherwise this would’ve been a better toy/purchase for my daughter to play with as she grows since it’s for all different ages.

My 3 year old loves this
This was one of my 3 year old son’s Christmas gifts. He didn’t play with it much at Christmas, but now he plays with it daily. I love it. It keeps him busy. So far it’s pretty durable. He’s dropped it numerous times and sometimes stands on it. Yikes. He also chews cord to the pen occasionally. I worry it’s a matter of time before he breaks it. He’s not always rough with it though. He really enjoys the guess the image setting. He is starting to try to draw letters and pictures by listening to the instructions. Very recent behavior.Only flaw!!! I removed the magnetic little shapes because my son put them in his mouth so be careful.

Love this!!
I brought two of these. 1 for my 5 year old and 1 for my 14 month old. I love it. You can add their name to it and it helps them write and spell their name. It has several different options for playing and matching, and guessing games. I brought it for the 5 year old for the purpose of a new easel thing but he loves the activities it offers. Of course the 14 month old just wants to bite on the pin so then theres that lol.

Taught both of my children with this!
This product is a 12/10 for my household! My now 5.5 year old son learned how to write all of his uppercase and lowercase letters by 2.5 years old because of this, and my 3 year old daughter has now mastered writing her uppercase and lowercase letters too! I worked with them using this instead of teaching them the traditional paper and pencil way first, and they loved it so much they would sit and practice for an hour or more while the screen showed them how to write each letter. I then moved on to using the Handwriting Without Tears chalkboards and workbooks with a tripod gripper added to their pencils and they both have beautiful penmanship already! As a pediatric occupational therapist, take my advice and get this! It’s the perfect gift for children turning 2 years old!

Comes in nice packaging. It is a cute & decent quality educational board toy!
The media could not be loaded.
The first impression – It comes in nice and good packaging. Looks cute & of decent quality. It is a great learning source for toddlers. Also, this will keep the toddler engaged to learn. My 2 cents below:Pros:- Comes with multiple learning modes and provides a good enough source of learning opportunities. Education activity toy- Very easy to use with initial parent supervision but the kid will learn soon to do it himself- The design is very well done and cute. Colorful and the kid is gonna love it and will be engaged- Has volume control & in my opinion is mandatory especially when the speaker volume is loud in these- Has handles for better grip- Gender-neutral toy and would go for both baby boy and girl- Very reasonably priced- Comes in nice packaging and is a giftable itemCons:- The plastic quality could have been better in these toys- Battery seems to be draining out pretty quickly in these

Fun stuff
Great toy except the wire attached to the pen is way too short. My child immediately cut it so she could have more mobility… Then we found out it was a wire not just a cord to secure it and it had features like when you draw the screen changes so sadly she didn’t get to experience that, thoigh she still has alot of fun with it and the mini games of what picture is this is alot of fun for her.

Loved it
We had a cheap no-name brand that my son loved, but the slider would constantly catch and tilt. This one is great. The slider never catches. My only wish is that it had different shapes for the magnets. Our cheap one had a circle, which we used to make wheels for vehicles, and eyes. He’s too young to really care about the learning aspect.

Each one has a different problem! (Updated)
I ordered one a few days ago and one letter did not work at all. So I returned it, and bought another one thinking it was a defective product. This one however has another problem. Once you write , it just fades away and becomes very light almost immediately. After a few minutes it completely disappears?!?!Update: so i changed my Review to 5 stars because the writing fading away actually got better over time. After about 2 days of continuous use, it pretty much works as expected. I read the manual late lol but it said to rub the stamp magnet all over and that helped. Now my son loves it and he has actually learned the difference between uppercase and lowercase alphabet and even manages to write some! All by himself. Great toy

She Enjoyed It!
My daughter enjoyed it. There are no complaints. But, like most toys, it catches children’s attention for a short period of time before they move on to something else. The issue is that you must have something to catch their attention or else it will be all on you.

Bought for adult physical rehab patient
I did not buy this for a child but for an adult who was in acute rehab. After covid, she needed to learn to walk and use her hands again. When I searched “learn to write” this came up and it is perfect. Not only is it durable and cute but the larger pen is attached and large enough she can put her fingers around it. Because it has lots of pushing and sliding it works her fingers in many ways. She played with it as soon as we opened it. She also won’t need to worry about pen leaking or getting lost or trying to find paper. The volume can be turned down and the music can be turned off as to not disturb other patients as well. It was a great surprise for her and it will help develop her dexterity and it commends you when you get the answer right and has a few games. I may take it from her when she is done with it I think its adaorable durable and portable!

Great for beginners learning
If you get a working one of these which we were fortunate to get it’s pretty good. The volume is low and not adjustable and the battery slot is easy to open which l like but could be a hazard for younger or disabled children… The cord feels just a touch short but still usable. It would be difficult for a left hander but not impossible. A spare pen from an old board would solve that issue. Other than that it’s a good drawing board. The electronic component does serve to challenge the beginner in letter recognition and writing. The voice is pleasant and clear in directions. There’s a slot in the back that holds stencils in place. Ours was snug enough to hold them in place but still easy enough for my child to take out or return neatly. The board wipes clean for us and was easy and enjoyable to erase with.My child was smiling using this board and was trying to write letters without looking miserable which to me was a win. I did sit in and explain how to use it. I also stuck around to assist with the letter writing techniques. Which went better than the plain paper experience for us. My impression of this drawing board is that it serves as a great set of training wheels for the reluctant beginner and children that are interested in a little extra entertainment in their learning curriculum. We can snuggle up on the sofa or in bed and do these together or it can be used in the car on long rides. We took it to Grandmas to show off progress. I found the stamp tools useful for simple math as well. Over all we are happy with this purchase!

Highly recommend – many good aspects of this toy for both patents and child.
This has worked out great for my son since he’s been 15 months old. He still uses it everyday now several months later.Pros: 1. Great way to practice holding pen and drawing lines, writing letters. We’ve been drawing and writing together and he really enjoys watching us and then copying it. My son got really good at many shapes and letters practicing on it.2. The pen will not mark your walls and furniture :)3. Great to take with you when you go on a trip, to a restaurant or for a visit. As your child can be entertained while you won’t need to worry about him marking anything with that pen.4. Has lots of tunes. My son loves playing little tunes that the board offers.5. Has great little animated tutorials of how to write different letters. My son prefers us showing him how to write, but having those little animated tutorials is also helpful.6. Simple enough otherwise – no annoying flashing lights, no constant sounds, none of that. It is a calm and quiet tool, unless you actually choose the mode with little tunes. And the tunes aren’t annoying and are short. You also have 2 volume levels.Cons: 1) the cord connecting the pen to the board is way too short as mentioned by others. I had to cut it. If you cut it in the middle, you can then use the cord attached to the one and board and turn it into loops using craft supplies. Then you can connect loops with any length of your own string.I highly recommend.

Amazing!
I bought this for my 5 year old son because he doesn’t like to learn. I wanted him to work on writing his letters and yes I’ve tried MANY other things. Flash cards, writing lines and workbooks. I’ve sat down with him for hours but he just gets kinda done with it after like 10 minutes, he asks when he can go play now. This is fun for him, I don’t think he even knows he’s learning. He’s excited to show me the pictures he’s drawn or the letters that he did so good on. Love how there’s little activities for you kid to do, it has you put in your child’s name in the beginning and shows them how to write their name. It came with stencils and a couple stamps. My son is very smart, book smart and street smart but he just doesn’t always want to learn so I’m happy he can have fun with this V tech learning pad. Definitely going to bring it on long car rides! Keeping this in the family for sure, I have two nieces and 3 nephews that it will help. Highly recommend!!

Vtech Write & Learn
My daughter is five and loves this! I love that it has several learning games, as well as teaching them how to spell and write the letters in their name! The price was great at just a few dollars more than other magnetic drawing boards and it offers so much more!My only real con for this item is that the volume does not go very loud and because of this is sometimes hard to understand. It would also be awesome if Vtech released a version with a headphone Jack, for easy use in the car!My daughter takes this everywhere! And it is great for occupying littles in situations like car rides, doctor visits and any time they have to wait for a bit!I definitely recommend this!

My son loves it, but we can’t get it to shut off.
Bought this for my son’s birthday and he absolutely loves it. It shows how to draw the letters and I love that the pen is attached so he can’t lose it.But, it won’t shut off. Holding down the power button will power it down, then it will immediately turn back on. We had to take the batteries out, because it’s driving us insane. Not sure if we got a dud.

Great educational toy! My daughter enjoys using this in the car. Bigger than expected; very useful
The media could not be loaded.
I was tired of messy cloths with the so called “washable markers” that destroyed many of my daughters clothing. Mess free ABC learning tools. I expected calculator size small unit but it’s big enough for her to carry around with two hands. I would have paid if it was 40 or 60$ but it was $20. I am so happy I made this purchase. I am not sure about durability but with vtech I have many other toys that lasted over 3 years so I am hopping it lasts but even if it doesn’t I will buy again coz it’s less than $20. No more cryola markers for me. I rely on other reviews so I wanted to leave one if it helps decide someone else 🙂

Read! battery compartment opens be careful
Great toy, my three year old loves this. It’s his go to toy every day. I write and draw on it and he traces everything I do but….Only HUGE flaw is the battery compartment, it just opens and the batteries can fall out. Not good! Not really child proof in my opinion. I would prefer it to have a screw so I wouldn’t have to worry about my kid playing with batteries or the batteries going mouth. I also have a one year old so I’m always making sure the compartment is shut and the batteries are inside. Im going to have to end up duck taping this shut to avoid any accidents. Im hoping the company can fix the battery compartment for future owners. I know I would like to not have to worry on a daily basis about the batteries falling out of my sons favorite toy.UPDATE: I called the company regarding the battery compartment. They first told me to call Amazon to fix the problem, this is not amazons problem. I called back again, this time I had to argue with them for half an hour over the safety of this item. They offered to replace the item with the same product – no thanks I don’t need four batteries loose in my house. Then offered for me to pick any toy up to $24. Which I declined because there is not another toy similar to this one that they have, nice gesture but I felt like they didn’t care what I was saying. The fact I’m concerned a child can get ahold of a batteries scared me. Overall they said this toy is not meant for a three year old (although my kid is advance in writing so he should be able to use this toy) they also don’t think about what if that family has other children who are younger. This compartment has opened multiple times since I have owned it (since Christmas) they didn’t seem so concerned that batteries can just fall out… Which concerns me. So please watch your children with this or do what I do and duct tape it. It’s a shame because it truly is a great educational toy.

V-Tech Product Indeed
I had to buy one of these for my daughter’s birthday but realized there would be a fight in the house. I ended up buying two for peace to reign in the domain. My daughter who is 5 and son who is 3 love this product as they can exercise their drawing or motoring skills. The product is very nice as it provides various interactive learning options such as drawing of objects, wiring of numbers and letters, voice, and on screen samples. Did I also mention the audio quality being good and precise? For creativity, this product delivers for the ages targeted. This product will not introduce your child/children to lead. The activities are great and awesome. Do note that the string on the stylus may need to be held properly as it may snag in the top right corner making it a little shorter and harder to use.
