Kitchen knife
I have a knife like this and my grandson requested a knife for Christmas. I sent him one and he loves it. I like the way it (rocks) back and forth when I am chopping vegetables.

Surprise!
I’m a little surprised how much I like this already. In the past, I used either a common flatware knife or a small silicone spatula where I now use this for spreading butter, soft margarine, soft cream cheese, mayo, jam, etc. The typical knife was too thin; the spatula too giving. Easy to use, easy to clean. Priced well.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He kept talking about wanting this wide knife for making his sandwiches. He saw this and screamed That’s It!!! He uses it everyday for spreading something. Lol

Handy item
Actually, I bought this by mistake. I thought I was buying a much smaller item, but didn’t notice the dimensions in the ad. The price was good, so I decided to keep it. I really enjoy it for making sandwiches, spreading mayonnaise or peanut butter, etc. and then being able to cut sandwiches with the serrated blade.

Love these, but…
If you leave them in water overnight, they will rust, otherwise love the feel and the way they spread. Will buy again, just not let them soak.

Best in Class!!!
Best little knife I’ve ever used! Beats all my other smaller knives (expensive or cheap!) I’ve ever had!!! First got this knife through a brick and mortar store on clearance. Couldn’t find it anywhere locally after using it. Even my neighbor said it was the best little knife she’d ever used. Ordered it through Amazon paying double what I’d paid before. WELL worth it! The serrated edge makes it useful for slicing tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, ham, or any lunch meats in blocks. It keeps the stuff I’m slicing intact and not shredded or crumbled. LOVE this knife. Word of warning: VERY SHARP! Cut with care!

Great Utility Knife
I have one of those magnetic knife strips in my prep area because I enjoy chopping and slicing and severing; I find cooking from scratch therapeutic, especially with some strong beers. My minuscule collection is really nothing to brag about for a home chef, but I like getting different brands: Global, Henckels, Shun. For a pairing knife, I really like the TUO brand. It’s razor sharp. The problem, for me, with straight edges is that they do need sharpening occasionally and they will dull over the course of time; that’s simply unavoidable. Did you know that Williams Sonoma will professionally sharpen your knives for $5 each? Heck yeah, but it only lasts for so long. So this is why I really love the Zyliss pairing knife: It really never needs to be sharpened – the serration gives it extra long-lasting bite. And I usually go-to a pairing knife, personally, because you have greater control, no matter what I’m working on. It may not be the best tool in every situation called for, but for me, using a lightweight, economical (and ergonomical) 4 inch knife for most of my meat/fruit/veggie prepping, that never needs maintenance and lasts for years, is also a great way to extend the life of my more special selections. So this one’s a definite winner. Get one!

Ooh Ooh, That Spread
We have all spread tons of times in our lives but never have you ever had the pleasure of a spread like this spreader. I used to only be able to spread for short spreads but now I am spreading all day long, and sometimes well into the night. Feel like spreading at 2am? Not an issue with this masterclass spreader. Sure, I could have gone even larger with the spreader but that honestly just seems like way too much spreading. This is the right amount of spreading for my comfort level. Like, where are you actually going to be able to spread with that industrial spreader anyway? Just way too much if you ask me. You will eventually just desensitize yourself to the spreading, and we all know that the spreading is why we are here. I’m just trying to help you save yourself because it sounds like a slippery slope you are on with this industrial spreader idea. Just buy this one to be safe. You wouldn’t jump off a cliff if that industrial spreader did, would you? No, I didn’t think so.

Good for daily use
I’ve had this knife for a little over a month and it’s worked perfectly, definitely worth the money. I work in a kitchen cutting dozens of melons a day and it’s held up well. Just do some basic upkeep with a sharpener and you’re good to go.

Love this spreader
Love this for spreading butter and spreading in general. I like the large semi flexible blade that is not dangerously sharp (but you don’t want to get careless with it just the same). I’ve another similar spreader where the handle is too rubbery (this handle is more plastic feeling, which feels easier to clean for the duration of the pandemic).RE: COLD BUTTER: I saw in the question and answers someone complained that butter was sticking to this spreader, and darn it kind of does. So this issue is specifically when trying to spread cold butter onto toast; I know what you’re thinking that butter will stick to any knife, but because the spreader is so wide you can’t pry off the butter onto your toast (so your only choice is to scrape the butter off onto the toast.. and so you end up peeling it off with your fingers half the time). But what’s the solution? If the spreader had a thin blade it wouldn’t function as a spreader anymore. I thought about using two of these spreaders (using one to scrape the butter off), and they’re easy enough to throw in the dishwasher. Or a technique solution (like cutting off thicker pieces of butter that are easier to get off the knife).

Nice Wide Spreader
This spreader is wide enough to hold and spread any condiment on a nice sized bread with only one dip. Then you can use the slightly serrated side of the spreader to cut your sandwich in half or trim off the crust for those picky eaters. Also handle is designed for very easy holding.

Love this thing
I don’t do many product reviews but this thing is great. It’s a simple item but of all my kitchen gadgets I really appreciate having this spreader. I had previously bought some cheaper spreaders that were too thick and not flexible. The Zyliss is 100x better — thinner so it handles a little flex which is key but still strong enough to do the job. Great bang for your buck. Highly recommend.

Wow!!! Sharpest knife I ever owned.
I had this knife for awhile now. All I can say is wow!!! This knife is awesome! I wanted to test it out and it passed every test. It cut thru a little charred tri tip with no problem. This is when I also noticed the grip is great. Makes it easier to cut with. I also tried playing around with holding a plastic bag and flicked the knife past the bag with no tension on the bag to allow the knife to cut it and it did cut it like butter.I also had one of those packages where you can’t open the plastic case it’s in. The only way is to cut through. I used this knife and it cut through the plastic with no problem. I used lots of knives to open those impossible hard plastic covered products and this knife cuts with no problem.I also used it to easily cut through some very thick zip ties. My friend was cutting some ham at my place with this very knife and he misjudged how sharp it was and cut himself. It’s sharp sharp sharp. How long will it last? I dunno but for this price, you could buy one every 3 months and it would still be a bargain.I assure you this knife does it’s job. I had originally bought it for the sheath so that I can take it camping and not accidentally cut myself while I pack and unpack my gear. Should I catch a fish, I will gut it with this knife too.4/6/2013I was cutting some tomatoes with this and I use my fingernails to guide my cutting. Usually, the knife slide off your fingernails to whatever you are cutting. In this case, the blade is so sharp it actually was cutting into my nails. Pretty impressed so far. Not bad for the price. I’m buying more of this brand in all it’s sizes for sure from now on.

My favorite sandwich knife
I wish I had found this sandwich knife sooner. It is not heavy and is very easy to handle. The blade is wide enough to generously scoop condiments, and its serrated edge is a beneficial feature for slicing toppings. On top of that, it is good looking and stands out. This is particularly helpful when used at potluck events.

This is a super sharp knife. You really need to keep the guard on it. The size is a little too large for a paring knife. It’s actually the size of a regular steak knife.

Have purchased multiple of these knives.
We purchased ZYLISS Serrated Paring Knife, 3 3/4-Inch Stainless Steel Blade, Red from the seller Amazon.com Services LLC for $8.32. Actually purchased this exact knife twice within a few months as explained below. Also purchased ZYLISS Paring Knife with Sheath Cover, 3.5-Inch Stainless Steel Blade, Green from the same seller three times over about 5 years. This is a great knife. We have purchased two of this style by this brand and loved our green non serrated paring knife so much we wanted to get the red one too. I know… it’s a knife. But with kids, having the little slide cover is great. Plus it’s a real quality knife. After probably about 5 years our green knife broke finally so we bought both of these to replace and add. Within a month though I was washing it when I noticed the sponge catching on it. So many nicks all over it I thought the knife had corroded. I was very upset and about to leave a negative review when I just knew that couldn’t be what happened, asked my youngest if he used the knives and sure enough he told me he did and “the knives had a battle”. I’m amazed he didn’t hurt himself or get shards in his eye, but rest assured, slamming knives together repeatedly while they battle will destroy it. That’s pretty reasonable though so I’ll let it slide.I did however, have to order another set to replace it… so in essence we’ve bought now 5 knives from Zlyiss over about 5-6 years and with their quality and the enjoyment we have, how long they stay sharp (if you take care of them) and no rusting, still happy with this brand.I have seen a lot of people complain about rust. We haven’t had that issue, however we wash this knife by hand and not in the dishwasher. As of late we have also noticed a lot of our new butter knives rusting in the dishwasher so we’ve stopped putting them in the dishwasher and wash them by hand now too. I have never washed my sharp knives in the dishwasher so I don’t know if the rusting thing for others is a recent phenomenon and they’ve started using cheaper metal, poor crafting techniques, etc. as evident by this happening to the butter knives. I can only comment on my experience with the knife how I use it. This is entirely possible that it is a flaw though, so please be aware of that yourself if you plan to put the knives in the dishwasher.

It’s a great handy little knife/spreader
I bought this on another website & I loved it. It never broke, never rusted or anything. My roommate actually took it & never gives it back! Yes, that’s why I was soooooo happy to find this here on Amazon. It’s the best little tool I have. It is the perfect shape for getting to the bottom of jars where you can’t get to with regular knives. Even if you use a spoon you can’t spread with a spoon! This catches all. For those ppl who say it rusts, I didn’t find that to be true. Then again I always wash & dry all my things fully before putting it away. I don’t air dry. Most things will become damaged if you don’t treat them correctly. I 💯 percent love this product. I didn’t get this for free or get a promo for writing this. If you want a really great little knife that doubles as a scoop & spreader this is it!

Love kitchen gadgets!
Ok s,o this may sound crazy but I love little kitchen gadgets and have always loved a wide butter spreader. I have always purchased wooden handle ones. The issue here is they eventually get waterlogged and nasty. I thought I would try one of these not only does it have a great handle, the size and shape of the blade is awesome. I’m buying more and throwing out the old ones with the wooden handles. Yuck!

Great for day to day use!
I bought two. Love the utility and price! Really like the versatility of this style of knife. I use these daily and getting a second one was a no brainer at this price. They seem durable and have held up to daily use/abuse. I would recommend to anyone.UPDATE 12/31/23: I no longer recommend without knowing how easily they rust. Now I know why they’re so inexpensive. Annoyed more than anything. Still have them and use them just didn’t think they were so cheap and delicate. Removing 2 stars for the rusting. Likely won’t last long. Looking for replacement.

Not bothered at all…
I actually ordered this little 4″ blade sandwich knife based primarily on the pictures as they depicted the blade shape and overall size to be perfect for spreading my cream cheese fruit blend onto english muffins and/or toast. So many product reviews now have a tendency to be a bit scewed that I didn’t do more than give them a cursory glance over before placing my order. The little sandwich knife arrived recently and I have just now seen the reviews complaining of blemish and/or rust issues. Well, I can’t be bothered about that…I hand wash my utensils anyway and shall make a point of immediately drying well immediately after washing because, for $5.00, I never ever expected it to be anything more than a decent little spreader and was shocked to discover the serrated blade is sturdy and VERY SHARP! Perfect for slicing sausages and even hard French baquettes! Really now? For the grand total of $5, how could I not be extremely satisfied with this utensil and give it a bit more attention to avoid possible blade blemishes. ; )

Nice and grippy
Love the color and the grippy handle. I was getting tired of using standard butter knives for mayo and having it fall off (sometimes onto the counter) before I could get it on the bread. This has kept mayo on the knife and makes it to the bread every time.

Better knife, easier life!
I think that getting used to using cheaply-made, impossibly dull knives in the kitchen is probably an integral part of most people’s 20’s. Well, at least this has been the case for me.Recently, I was about to host a party, and I needed to slice up a few vegetables to go into some of the hors d’oeuvres. Now – when you find yourself dreading the process of cutting up one pepper, one tomato, and one onion for three days in advance, this is probably a good indication that you either need to: a) seek a professional evaluation for lachanophobia (a fear of vegetables), OR, b) that it is definitely time to upgrade your kitchen knife game. I couldn’t buy a whole new set of knives, because our set of dull kitchen knives belongs to my roommate and I know her well enough to know that she would insist that her knives are perfectly fine and refuse to replace them. (And no, we don’t have the space for two whole sets of knives in our kitchen. This is Manhattan, don’t be ridiculous.) So – I decided to buy this 5-inch Zyliss knife for myself, as it seemed versatile enough to handle many different jobs, and best of all, it might actually enable me to be able to cut up a cucumber without throwing my entire body weight behind every slice. The blade cover was a big selling point for me because it has to be stored in a drawer that holds all of our miscellaneous kitchen tools, and personally, I’m not a huge fan of slicing my hand open every time I’m digging for a potato peeler. I like that it’s purple for obvious reasons (colors are cool). I’m probably not the best person to evaluate this knife’s functionality because my bar was set so low before – but I CAN tell you that it is awesome at cutting things. My friend who came over to help me prepare for the party was very impressed with the skill level of my new knife as well.I am planning to buy more from this line of knives over time, so by the time I move in to my own apartment, I have acquired a full set. 🙂
