Overview
A great step-up from brushed bashing, the 1/10 scale ARRMA BIG ROCK CREW CAB 4X4 3S BLX ready-to-run monster truck delivers a thrilling combination of ARRMA toughness, street truck style and 50+ mph speed capability. Built on the powerful 4X4 BLX platform, its precision aluminum, tough steel and composite materials come together for an easy-to-maintain, super-durable vehicle design that’s now been upgraded to further increase the monster truck’s impressive performance and durability.
The BIG ROCK 4X4 3S BLX is DESIGNED FAST, DESIGNED TOUGH — built for exciting bashing speeds and extreme, all-terrain durability. New features that enhance its unstoppable performance include a stronger chassis and retained hinge pin plates; steering with more clearance for stones; a castellated slipper pad and sliding gear mesh; longer suspension arms for a 1.10 inch increase in width; and rubber-shielded bearings throughout. The SLT3 is compatible with Tactic SLT receivers to run other RTR vehicles you may own, and includes a third channel to control optional features such as lights and winches on models that have them.
ARRMA now powers the BIG ROCK 4X4 3S BLX with a brushless system featuring its BLX100 ESC and the Spektrum Firma 3200Kv brushless motor. The combination provides incredible torque, acceleration and speed. The transmission and chassis are ruggedly engineered to take full advantage of the electronics’ power.
It has the ingenious modular design perfected by ARRMA engineers for easy component access and maintenance. The power module, with improved dirt management, consists of the motor with ARRMA heatsink and cooling fan, plus motor plate, slipper clutch assembly and gear cover. The power module can be detached from the chassis as a complete unit by removing just one screw. With the power module removed, the slipper clutch can be reached easily for adjustments by taking out three screws that attach the gear cover. The gear ratio can be finely tuned as the power module now uses a sliding motor mesh design.
A two-piece molding screwed to the truck’s chassis serves as its electronics module, containing a waterproof receiver box, servo mount and ESC tray. The SLR300 receiver mounts inside the receiver box for protection from dirt and moisture. The ultra-compact ESC is screwed to the top of the module, allowing quick access to the on/off switch, while the servo mounts to the side. All three components can be removed together, quickly and easily.
The differential module houses each differential unit in an innovative yoke design. Only eight screws need to be removed to release the front and rear yokes. The power module can then be detached, allowing you to pivot the gearbox cases for differential access. The BIG ROCK 4X4 3S BLX RTR comes brushless-ready with 37T 1.35mod diffs with silicone O-rings. The large gears can withstand huge torque, and internal metal gears have been chosen for reliability during extreme bashing.
Its full-time 4WD transmission uses strong front, rear, and centerline telescopic driveshafts that can’t be lost during heavy impacts, unlike dogbones. A simple, dependable, responsive steering assembly complements the ultra-reliable drive system and features a servo horn with built-in servo saver. The BIG ROCK 4X4 3S BLX RTR includes the waterproof Spektrum SPMS651 metal-geared digital servo for 15% more torque than the previous version’s ADS-7M servo.
The self-bleeding, oil-filled shocks, now with silicone O-rings, use a tried and tested, coil-over design for simple maintenance and amazing handling. Their innovative rod-end has a molded-in spring perch for extra toughness. Extended height dirt defenders and a close-fitting body limit the amount of dirt and debris that can get into the chassis tub. Front and rear bumpers offer defense against impacts.
Accented by matte black front and rear bumpers and wheels, the BIG ROCK 4X4 3S BLX truck’s long, scale Crew Cab body marks the epitome of street style. With the included dBoots RAGNAROK MT tires, you’ll take it on the run over dirt tracks, trails and even muddy courses. An adjustable wheelie bar comes as standard, letting you enjoy a little stunt fun along the way.

Excellent truck and definitely worth it
I love just about everything about this truck although the rear wheel just fell off after going through about 6, maybe 7 battery packs but was an easy fix. Otherwise I absolutely love this product and it is super fast even with a 2s battery. If you’re a beginner I suggest buying a 2s battery and a 3s battery so you’ll have a chance to get the hang of the controls cuz its kinda hard to drive unless you got the hang of it. I got two of each batteries and I should have only gotten one 2s and two 3s cuz I’m not using the 2s batteries at all anymore now that I have a good feel for it. But this truck is in a totally different class than the cheaper ones out there, it can ride a wheelie all the way down the street and do donuts and backwards donuts and all sorts of other sweet tricks and it can really get some air on the smallest jumps and it’s so fast that it almost looks like its hovering across the ground and it will zoom throughout any yard super fast!!!!! I almost think its too fast!!!! It says 50mph on the box but 50mph never seemed so fast before now, I swear!!! This thing is awesome and absolutely worth every penny and I would probably pay a lot more for it than I did, which is awesome too cuz you really feel like you got a good deal on it and It’s built stronger looking than any other truck I’ve had!!! I’ve seen several $800 to $900 trucks that were not as nice as this one and that says alot to me!!! I recommend this truck to anyone who wants to have some serious fun and feel like they got a great deal!!!P.S.- Make sure that you check your battery connectors before buying batteries… I’m pretty sure it comes with EC5 connectors but double check before you quote me… 😉😉

It’s fast but not very durable.
Overall this is a pretty decent RC truck especially considering this is the only the second truck I have ever purchased in the RC world. It’s pretty fast and the battery life fairly decent using a 5200 mah 3C battery. The biggest problem so far is that I’ve owned the truck for less than a month and only driven it four times. On the fourth time of driving it I bumped the edge of my house doing no more than maybe three or four miles an hour as I always slow down going around the house because it loses traction so easily and it broke the steering hub. I ordered steering hubs directly from arrma but was greeted with a message that shipping times will vary because California something or another blah blah blah and have yet to receive new steering hubs so for the last two and a half / 3 weeks the truck is just been sitting waiting for the one part I need to be able to drive it again. I’ll watched easily 30 videos and reviews on this truck before I made the purchase and I’ve seen people jump this truck 20 ft in the air land directly on the sidewalls of the tires and nothing breaks but mine broke with the equivalent of a hefty sneeze and I’ve been waiting to get parts for it to be fixed. I understand this is a hobby and that it’s inevitable that you will have to buy parts and fix things and upgrade things but this seems pretty ridiculous that you have to baby this RC that is literally marketed as a basher. I’ve never jumped this truck I never flipped or rolled this truck and was being super easy with it considering I don’t want to have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to keep repairing it just to have some kind of hobby entertainment but that still failed and I am not sure when I will actually be able to drive this truck again or if it is even worthwhile to drive this truck ever again in fear that it’s just going to break if it hits a bump. I’m somewhat frustrated and quite honestly really disappointed that I only got to drive the truck four times before it ultimately broke turning it into a paperweight.

So far no dislikes, I truly thought I wasn’t gonna like the tires, but there vented an perfect for the power of this truck , straight ridiculous with 3s an only thing is it lol too heavy but to get the best of all rewards in rc is next to impossible so wouldn’t change it.

Incredible RC truck that can take a beating
This is one of the first RC Trucks that I’ve bought and made me really love the hobby. It is outstanding quality and durability. I took it off jumps and never had a break. Clearly Arrma is making far superior products than the competition. I will never buy a Traxxis again after owning the Big Rock.

Arma quality control isn’t very good and durability soso.
Got this big rock and right out the box the steering was off. It would eighter steer left or right couldn’t adjust it right on the remote. So Armas assembly line quality control is clearly bad. Also I jumped the big rock off several ramps. And it easily broke the front shock cover spring shock protectors. So the stock shocks are garbage Plus I’m not sure if one of the rear wheels came with a wobble or it developed it from jumping. So I returned the truck. The big rock is supposed to be durable and a good truck. Didn’t overall seem so. Maybe if they fix those issues it will be. Also arma has no customer service telephone number and that’s bad. You have to email them just to get help. What a joke

Transmitter power issue
I don’t like the fact sometimes when turning off the transmitter power ,the car takes off all by itself, no control. Turn transmitter power button back on and the car will stop. This is something I can’t fix unless, this is something beyond me if it is please help. it seems to have a mind of its own at times

ARRMA TOUGH.
Takes a hard bashing and keeps coming back for more.CVD’s aside this is a pretty solid 1st car. Getting the slipper clutch adjusted properly is a must if you don’t want to keep spending $10.00 an axle every time you take this out. So far that’s the only real problem, stock CVD’s keep blowing out. The paint is on the outside of the body, so she won’t look pretty for long but is tough and holds up to normal abuse pretty well. Be careful about aftermarket shock lengths as well, the CVD’s don’t like extreme angles. After 4 rear CVD’s I’ve swapped in a set of GPM axles and they are definitely holding up better.Keep an eye on debris building up on the hubs, this can destroy a bearing fast and will eat up a hub as well.

I believed the hype
I am disappointed. I’ve got almost 800 dollars invested in repairs. And upgrades. It has broke every time I’ve taken it out. Granted I jump it high and far. Just like all the videos I’ve seen. However when I land good and flat. It bends shocks. And they have come apart. Broken drive shafts. Shattered the body. 4 spur gears. And now the diffs are skipping. So that’s going to be another expensive upgrade. It would be one thing if I was upgrading because I wanted to. Bit I’ve been doing it because I don’t want to keep buying parts for this thing. I wanted an rc that I could go bash with and have fun on a regular basis. After it’s all said and done. I wish I would have saved and waited until I could afford the Xmaxx I drove it in the snow for about 2 minutes yesterday. And it had pack the inside with snow and soaking the electronics. And it’s done. It’s not what I was hoping for at all. And after costing this much I’ve got a Stock 3s big rock. With a bunch of aluminum and metal upgrades. Shocks, drive shafts, hubs, gearing, slipper clutch, pinion, diffs, new body, shock oil, on and on. Those by them selves are all small items that won’t break the bank. Until I look back and add it all up. Then reality starts to set in. In all fairness. I have done this without contacting Arrma at all. I have no clue to how Thier customer service, or product warranty rates. So I have no information other then Amazon says I can return it for a full refund until Jan. They have always done me right. But it’s a hard decision. To return something I have so much invested in to get the 369 purchase price back. Well that’s my experience. Hope yours was better. It goes like that sometimes. But I see an Xmaxx in my future. Some day? Be well, keep bashing!

The Arrma Big Rock RC truck is a solid 9/10. Infact, this thing is epic!
I started my journey into the RC car world approximately 2 weeks ago. I first purchased a Haiboxing 1/12 scale 903a (which was great but a little small and the gear/differentials made an awful racket at certain speeds and the shocks which were supposed to be oil filled weren’t; I bought another one to see if it was any better and the shocks were filled this time but the drivetrain made an even worse racket). Both ended up getting returned. The second RC car purchased was a Hosim 1/10 scale X08 which was much better overall when compared to the Haiboxing, and I would have kept it, if it wasn’t for what is a “drag brake” problem that made the car difficult to drive when letting off the gas (it would almost flip over itself due to the strong braking at times or flip on the side with turning and letting off). I looked it up on youtube and RC Guy Garage also complained about this and he hated it. I returned the Hosim after running it for 15 minutes and finding out that this isn’t an isolated problem. Lots of background info here, I know I know, bear with me. Now onto the Arrma Big Rock. THIS. THING. ROCKS. I haven’t had this much fun with something like this in years. It has quickly become almost an obsession. I have always had many interests (cars, computers, electronics, DJ’ing) but nothing has ever, with the exception of maybe DJing, had me so infatuated. I guess this is what a true hobby feels like? I think so. As far as the car itself: The car is fast (almost too fast on 3S, especially after calibrating the throttle, make sure to do this as it wasn’t done out of the box, now even on 50% on a 3S battery it scoots and honestly is plenty fast on the streets and small parking lots, 75% is borderline too quick, and 100% is basically only for straight line runs, at least for me!). 2S batteries come tomorrow (which were recommended as opposed to 3S by my buddy who has worked at Hobby Town for 20+ years but I didn’t listen and purchased 3S initially). The car is tough, I have hit curbs and big rocks, with a few of these crashes resulting in the car flying 5 feet up in the air or doing cartwheels for 30 feet and other than some scrapes everything is running strong (only about 10 hours on this thing though so as far as longevity of components I cannot give a good impression). The car looks good, proportions are right, the wide stance is great, and the all-black crew cab fits the longer wheelbase very well. I think LED headlights or a bumper light bar would be awesome but I am sure that can be installed. I have also had multiple people approach me around my neighborhood and the random parking lots and parks I’ve been to and ask what it is and where I bought it and of course I happily oblige with the information they request. One of my neighbors went home and bought one same day after seeing me drive it around (a different brushed Arrma but goes to show how excited people get when they see this thing). Overall this car is a 9/10. Oh, and I have an Arrma Kraton 1/10 coming tomorrow… It has begun… Cheers!

WOW! Great truck
Plenty of reviews everywhere on the Big Rock so this will be short. We have a couple of smaller ($100 ish) R/C’s that I bought to race around with my 10 yr old. First R/C’s I’ve used since I was a kid. They are fun, durable, pretty fast.Nothing like this.Big Rock is fast. Way fast.Very durable. Yeah, we’ve broken a couple of minor parts, but considering the crashes, that’s nothing.Nice to have 50/75/100% speed modes so my son doesn’t worry as much about crashing it. Nice to have steering travel limiter as well. All black body means that you can get creative if you want. Paint pen works great.Only thing – switch out the tires. Stock ones deform massively at speed making the truck less stable. Grab some tires off of a Granite or similar and the truck will be much more stable and fun.

Takes some tinkering, but a beast once dialed in
First off, loosen the slipper clutch. If you run a 3S battery without backing it off a bit you will rip the rear drive axles apart within 5 minutes. Also, buy more shocks and extra drive axles, both will break in time. I’ve had this truck about a year now and have broken it probably 15 times so it’s a part hog. HOWEVER, once you get everything dialed in this truck is an absolute monster. I bash through muddy wetlands, snow, sand, grass, pavement, and it’s handles all terrain the exact same. I love and hate this thing because it’s ridiculously fast and fun to drive, but so much power it shreds it’s plastic parts. It has its own toolbox full of replacement parts, but I am pretty hard in it.

Plan to replace the servo immediately!
I really want to like this truck but right out of the gate, first run, it will not steer straight at full throttle at all.. it drifts one way or the other, steering never goes back to straight at full throttle.. that really kills it for me. Another person I know got one and is experiencing the same thing. So get ready to replace the servo immediately. Aside from that the truck seems durable and is very fast on 3s. The rest of the stock electronics are good.. but the servo thing makes me wonder why they even bother putting a servo in the truck at all when it literally will not keep the truck driving straight at wot. The experience for the consumer would be so much better if Arrma put a decent servo in this truck.

Hot Garbage
Day 1 was great. On 3s lipo she moves. But I have become very wary of bashing it. First off, I went through all the nuts and bolts with blue locktite when I got it. On day 2 I was just spinning a few donuts and one of the wheels flew off. Put it back on and went for another run. Another wheel flew off. Put it back on. Re-locktited them both. Went back out and the first wheel flew off again. Locktite again. I think it’s having problems with the wheels because the nuts are tiny(4mm) and barely any axel pokes through the rim. So all in all it’s a great RC, as long as the wheels aren’t flying off. Edit: disregard my first review. I’ve taken this out a total of 10 times. Just hitting homeade jumps. Something has broken every time I’ve taken it out. I haven’t even bashed it! I’ve come to the conclusion that this rig is just a piece of junk. Save up another $100-$150 and buy something better. The Big Rock is crap.

Great for the price
I have only ran the truck a couple times. So far it’s great. It seems very well built and it’s way cheaper than a Traxxas Hoss I was looking at. I think the Arrma is one of best you can get for the money. It’s fast too.

Great 4×4, but plan to spend money on parts if you like to bash hard..
Great truck, lots of power, but, could have been designed a bit better IMHO. My first ten minute run, I hut a curb head on (wasn’t paying attention). The force of the impact caused more than a couple issues. The motor mount chassis didn’t hold up and had a huge crack, at the same time then entire motor shifted due the the motor mount plate bending. The spur gear took a good portion of the force as well, and actually cracked. Couple other small issues onto of this, but, ended up spending $120 after shipping costs just to get back to new.I’m planning to do a feew modifications before I bash again, starting with support for the motor (both underneath, and at the rear to protect the motor mount plate from doing this again.Sure, I wasn’t paying attention when I hit the curb , but, I’ve seen guys launch this truck 30′ in the air off skate park ramps, and land nose first, and keep on riding. Which, is why I bought it.I’ve ran my Arrma typhone through the ringer, and I mean hard, and have not yet had to replace anything. I’m going to get this Arrma Big Rock to the same standards with some upgrades..

Good RC car
A true basher and fun to drive. It’s really fast so be careful. I adjusted the ecu so every time you hit the throttle it wheelies even with it on 50%. My only issue that I was going a little crazy and one the front wheels came off which is common problem I seen on the Internet with this particular RC. It’s an easy fix but a little irritating because it’s fairly new. Otherwise I’m quite sure you’ll be satisfied if you’re a first time RC owner like me.

Fast and fun but durability is lacking
The Big Rock is a fast and fun truck but I have had multiple issues after only 6 batteries (3s) run through it. Three of the four shock shafts have separated from the shock cup/base. I went ahead and used epoxy to reattach. The rear right differential slider popped off three times at the joint near the knuckle. This appears to have been due to a too tight of a slipper so make sure to double check the setting from the factory. I have not bashed this truck hard and its only been jumped about three feet off the ground so it really should not be having these types of problems with the shocks. Other than these issues the truck is a blast but only getting through 1 out of the six batteries without problems at this point is unacceptable. My Chinese branded 1:12 and 1:18 scale 2s trucks that I run on 3s have yet to have any of these problems and they cost just a fraction of the Big Rock.

Fun truck
The Arrma Big Rock is an awesome truck and I really like it. It’s fast it’s fun and pretty durable. The things I don’t like is that the spur gear seems to easily strip. I bash these things pretty hard and they hold up to just about everything. My only issue is the spur gears seem to be delicate. Other than that I would have given it five stars

This is by far one of the best archery RC trucks I’ve ever owned. I’ve had RC cars for many years. This is a very well-built very durable, all-around great truck, especially for the money.

Super fun for beginner – not crazy durable
Listen… this is my first 1/10 sized basher. Knowing nothing I’m glad I’m learning on a “relatively cheaper” platform. With that being said I’ve broken/replaced more parts than I can think of. Part of that is due to bashing this thing hard but the other part in my opinion is due to using cheap plastics. But what do I know… just a nube to the hobby

Fast durable and worth every dime!
Definitely lives up to hype. Bought two first one seemed a little faster than the second one. Hands down worth the money.

Fun, but common servo issue is annoying
Overall the car is great, it’s fast and fun. The only negative so far is my servo died after less than a week of easy driving. I read online this is a common issue with Arrma vehicles so instead of replacing it with another spectrum unit I bought the cheap popular one on Amazon with good reviews. One thing to keep in mind is the stock steering servo is a 23t and most aftermarket are 25t. You will need to buy a 25t steering servo saver to make it work. Also I recommend contacting Arrma through the email address on their website instead of through amazon, they responded much faster this way.

Be ready to buy spare parts
I will start this off by saying I followed a video YouTube stating a few things to check before driving any arrma vehicle. Tightened everything etc. First time our driving two shocks explode and on of the cvd joints is torqued. So far costing me the cost of the car, shocks, and cvd shafts. For this price point I expected it to be more durable. But it is fast.

Great car, drives very fast, good quality. Unfortunately I had an issue with my RC unit even after full reset, I guess I was unlucky.

Fun Truck
Bought this after doing some research between Traxxas and Arrma so far I’m very happy with it. I did do some YouTube research first found a couple suggestions helpful. I’ve had no issues so far I am very pleased with my purchase. This thing is really fast!

Great truck but driveshafts pop constantly. Have to upgrade to CVD!!
Love the truck its tough and stupid fast!! That being said the plastic parts are an issue. Pretty much have to do certain upgrades. Within the first 30 mins the driveshaft separated from the u-joint and continues to do so. I’ve adjusted the slipper but that doesn’t help either. I ordered steel/graphite cvd driveshafys on Ebay. Sucks I had to spend $70 but worth it to enjoy the truck for more than 5 mins!!

Absolute beast of a rc truck
Fast, powerful and way too much fun! This is a great truck and a lot of value for the money. Get proper tools/spare parts for needed repairs and understand hobby grade means you have to be engaged and willing to perform repairs. Performance has a price and it will break like all others. Having said that, the Big Rock will take a beating. Highly recommend.

Broke rear axle on the first run.
My rear axle broke the first run I had with it. Plastic is not the way to go when you have this much power! Overall, it’s all that everyone says it is. Wheels are junk, and is the first think you’d want to switch out. Body seems very durable!

One of the best 3s models from arrma.
Update I just got a message from horizon hobbies about my seller feedback. They flagged it and said it was not from an experience I had purchasing from Amazon which is untruthful ( all my arrma products are from amazon) this is a shady business practice. Be careful. Onlyc2 stars because of my experience with the companyI’ve had the vortek and typhon 3s and this is leaps and bounds better

Awesome but
Excellent rc but all three arrmas that I have bought have had shocks fail within a few battery’s. The shaft pulled out of the moulded plastic on three of mine and a couple of shocks on other peoples cars that I know.

Great buy
I wish I would’ve started with the Big Rock. This is a beast. 50 mph is plenty fast especially for a 1/10 scale and this truck can take a beating. The only issue I’ve had with this truck is the steering design allows small rocks to get stuck in sometimes. It’s easy enough to fix, most of the time you just need to hit another jump and it dislodges itself. Between the price and the performance this is a great deal. I’ve spent more and got less before.

This truck is great! It is FAST and a great value!. You may need to set up the front tow on the tires but after that it handles excellent! I would recommend this truck to anyone who like rc vehicles!

The Big Rock is the basher to learn on. Truly a beast of a starter RC. But be prepared to wrench cause the Big Rock is meant for learning.

If you like fixing rc trucks, get this one
Every single time I threw a battery in it, something broke. No joke, this is way worse than my HBX 2995. The flimsiest rc I’ve ever seen. Don’t buy it. Spend your money on a Kraton if you like ARRMA. I personally built my 2995 into a beast that can hang with the Big Rock. And it doesn’t break every single time I use it.

Best basher for the price and better then higher priced ones
The media could not be loaded.
It takes a great bashing with little to no damage. This is a well built rc truck. The handling is good. Make sure you set steering and throttle trim when you first power it up. Also the punch is only half way out of the box. The body is pretty strong but could benefit from drywall tape and shoegue. It is strong enough I let my 8 year old daughter play with it. It is kinda to fast for her but it can handle her.

Parts broke every time I drove, poor customer service
This vehicle is not high quality. Every time I drove it, there are parts broken. The driveshafts popped out, servo failed, shocks broken.Their customer service is nightmare. The first time I request parts through warranty, they send to the wrong address and refuse to send me a new one. They also ask a lot before sending out stuff and it seems they don’t want you to contact them.Edit on 09/24/2021:Raised to 3 stars. Arrma did sent replacement parts as warranty claims. I also loose the spur gear and till now the driveshaft didn’t pop out.

Axles Need an Upgrade
The truck is a blast while it’s running and overall seems very durable with the exception of the axles . The left rear has failed twice. The first failure was my first time running the truck and it failed within the first minute. The second time was the second time I ran the truck and also adjusted the slipper clutch to be looser. This time it lasted about 3 minutes. I have the backordered ARRMA CVD heavy duty axles on order but ARRMA should come up with a fix and apply it to the base truck or start supplying spares with the kit.

Good time to be had
This thing is a blast, definitely upgrade the spur gear to the steel one, this thing has some power, handles great, takes a beating like a champ, upgrade parts are available, you just have to do some searching, as for the drive axles, let them break in for a bit before hammering the throttle, once they are broke in, they handle the power very well.

Great rc fast and durable.
So fast if your not used to driving an rc don’t go full throttle 1st bash or you’ll wreck very easy to work on unlike other rc cars I’m buying another one this weekend. I love this Arrma big rock thanks Amazon. Best rc I’ve ever owed. Great durability and the controller is great with good range do yourself a favor and start upgrading plastic parts for metal ones and it becomes even more durable so nice I bought it twice.
