    Rain jacket

Bought for travel in Ireland in September! Lightly lined and so very light to pack! I love the length, the arm length hood is a great size. I ordered a size larger so I can wear layers underneath.

    Very practical jacket

What a practical hooded jacket that’s terrifically lightweight. It fits well. The XL accommodates my broad shoulders, and height (almost 5’11”). The mid section is too large for me, but I’m able to pull in the elasticised cord located in the bottom hem and it looks good, instead of being cattywampus which is sometimes the unfortunate result of using an elasticised cord. The sun is shining, but based on past experience, I know that Columbia jackets advertised as waterproof are indeed waterproof. Based on past experience I like Columbia. The Dark Nocturnal colour is lovely. Getting this jacket is a no brainer. It’s packed for a trip to the Olympic Peninsula later this year and hiking at Ozette when it will be raining.

    Love this jacket.

This jacket brought me through days and days of rain in Alaska. I love the fit and style. My only issue was the slight wetness of the sleeves if we were in the rain too long. It didn’t happen to any other parts, just the sleeves.

    Great rain jacket!

This raincoat provides a longer length which really helps with rain especially in the wind.I walk to work and love the fit and the attached hood with a little bill to keep the rain from soaking my bangs . The collar zips up as well and is secured to keep the rain off my turtleneck and sweaters!

    A true waterproof coat

I love this coat as it is not only waterproof but it has a lining for when you have a rainy and chilly day. Took this on vacation and it kept me dry the whole time. Well worth the price!

    Great jacket!

I brought this jacket with me for a end of June/early July trip to Scotland and couldn’t have been happier. It showed up in time and fit just right. I’m tall with long arms and the sleeves were just where I like them to land, with Velcro adjustable wrist cuff! There is a thin fleece-ish lining that kept me warm enough for the most part but the jacket had enough room that I could also layer a thin sweatshirt with it when needed in windy spots. It is most certainly waterproof and was very thankful for that. Also handy to have zip pockets! I am 5 8 , 155lbs and got a medium!

Love the length and inside material

This is a very nice rain jacket with thin lining inside. Not too warm but makes it so you don’t sweat in it which I find happens without a liner. Length is perfect for being out when raining with some wind.

    Great windbreaker!

I wore this on a five day sailing trip on Lake Michigan. We didn’t really get the rain that was predicted, but we sure had the wind, so it was on all the time. Also looked very nice, dressy almost, for dinners ashore. It’s super lightweight, too , not a heavy bulky thing.

    Very nice rain jacket

This is a very nice rain jacket. After reading reviews that stated it ran small I sized up because I wanted it to fit over hoodie for wearing at outdoor fall sporting events. I wished that I didn’t size up because it it big and a bit sloppy looking. I could have exchanged it but I needed it for an evening outside on a rainy day. It is a very nice jacket and kept me dry and comfy. I really like it. But in my opinion it runs true to size. I purchased large

    Feels Cheap

It’s a windbreaker with a really thin lining. It fits pretty well, but the outer material feels like a sheet of cheap plastic. When you have it zipped up all the way the top of the zipper stabs you in the chin. I really expected better quality from Columbia, especially for the price.

RUNS SMALL TIGHT IN THE ARMS

I went based on the size chart and I do have large arms. It’s a little constricting but it’s exactly what I was looking for as far as length and weight. It’s a light windbreaker with really a very light lining. It’s the type of material that makes the swish noise, almost identical to the material of an umbrella but a touch stiffer. If I had to put a legitimate price on this it would be $25. It’s not worth the $65 I paid for it.

    RUNS SMALL

Ordered XL and my chest size is 40D and i weigh 165ish?? This jacket is tolerably tight through the chest upper back area, i would be super uncomfortable if i zipped it, i CAN zip it but it’s weird fitting as I’m a top heavy midwesterner, and this is def not made for my body shape (like most women’s clothing, sigh) if i ordered the next size up it would be an XXL it would probaby hang so loose in sleeve length and thigh length that i would be swimming in it.EDIT: after about 5months of wearing it, it did kinda stretch a little and i lost a little weight so it’s a bit better through the shoulders bust area. I have received a lot of compliments on it also. I’ve grown to like it and might order another in different colors. It keeps me pretty warm on even 30 degree days just running errands and in and out of car

    Truly waterproof

I sized up so I could layer underneath if necessary. It was comfortable without being bulky. This is a very lightweight jacket which may be good for spring and summer showers but I needed my layers to keep warm in approx 40-45 degree weather. (But I am from a warm climate and fairly wimpy in anything below 70!). On my last trip the sprinkles, rain, and even a bit of sleet one morning did not deter me from being outdoors in my new jacket. I was dry, warm, and comfortable. The hood kept rain off my face and glasses. It was easy to pack and the light gray coordinated with all my outfits. I like the longer length. In spite of being short, the Velcro on the sleeves helped me adjust the length. I loved being hands-free and not having to deal with an umbrella.

    Size one or two UP

I would have given this cool raincoat five stars except that it runs so small which I did learn from the reviews before ordering. I ordered a 3X and usually I wear a 1X, that way I have some room underneath for a warm layer– this is perfect for my walks in the rain.

    Love this jacket!

I’m so happy with this jacket. It is lightweight which will be perfect for Spring, cool summer nights and Fall. I live in CT. I need to test it for rain repellency. It definitely doesn’t appear it will work for a downpour but if so, that’s fine. Reviews said size up 1-2 sizes, so I was afraid this would be too small. It’s plenty big. I carry all my weight in my middle and chest and find this very generously cut in the middle. But I guess it’s because it’s a straight cut jacket. I have narrow hips and can see how the cut might not work as well for a pear shape because it’d be loose in the waist and tight across the hip. For reference, I wear 18-20 in pants and 2x-3x in tops. The arm sleeves are very long on me which I was a little disappointed about. But the wrists can be tightened w. velcro which helps. I love the longer length. Plus sizes in this jacket may be true sizing vs. regular sizes because it appears many fewer plus size people complained this runs small. I love this jacket. It’s very light so it’s ideal to pack in a backpack. Got a super great deal too. $40 never better spent. Oh and despite being so light, it is still warm.

    Fits great, and soft.

I really liked this jacket. The medium fit in a flattering way. I ordered this one and the Arcadia also by Columbia. I prefer this one with the light fleece lining. The Arcadia had mesh, which if I lived in a hotter climate I might prefer. But when it rains here it usually drops the temps quite a bit, so I want the softer and slightly warmer jacket. I also preferred the slanted and lined pockets, which are good sized to hold my phone and a glove, and I can easily slide my hands into. The hood is not generous. I had to flatten my ponytail to get the hood to come all the way over my head. I did prefer the Arcadia pull strings you pull and tie to tighten the hood on that coat. This one has elastic with the tabs to hold it in place, but it’s a small preference. Oh, and it’s “quieter”, the Arcadia was a louder coat with the swish sound. The Arcadia also had a boxier fit, I think I could have sized down in that one but this Columbia fit just right in M. Overall, I highly recommend this coat.

UPDATE #2: The 2X came pretty quickly. The arms are longer than the 1X and the jacket is much longer as well. But the middle section seems to be pretty much the same as the 1X. So, as you go up in size, the arms & jacket length increase but not the overall circumference of the jacket. I’m returning the 2X and hanging on to the 1X. In the meanwhile, I may have to research another style of jacket.UPDATE: I returned the XL & ordered a 1X which came quickly, thank goodness. The 1X arms are now longer, as is the jacket itself. But it’s still kinda snug around the middle. I wouldn’t be able to layer too much under it and that’s why I purchased this jacket in the first place (cruise to AK). I’ve now ordered a 2X (!) and am hoping for the best.An XL should have fit but it’s not even close. I had to wait extra long to receive it & now have to return. Have ordered a 1X. Hope that fits.

    A great buy

I did some researching and everyone raved about this jacket and I’m here to say it gets the job done indeed! I spent the week in Iceland and this jacket made the wind, rain, and snow way less harsh than it actually was. I stayed completely dry by the waterfalls and the wind didn’t penetrate at all. I was still cold underneath as it is a thin jacket but once I put a sweater on underneath I was very cozy throughout the entire day. I loved that it had extra length on it to keep more of you dry and drawstrings to close the hood around your face. It was light and easy to stuff in a bag and didn’t take much space up. A great buy for what it’s worth!

    Perfect, great fit.

The perfect lightweight rain jacket for Seattle! Thin, waterproof , and neutral looking. Flattering silhouette. Great for the days when it’s not cold, but it’s wet (which is often, here). Or for layering on top of warmer clothes. Will also make sure to bring this for traveling, as it’s size means it will pack down small!

More length gives you better coverage in the rain

Most of these types of rain jackets are short in length, barely covering the hips. Columbia has solved this problem for me. It’s lightweight, a great windbreaker, plenty of pockets, and has better coverage when it rains.

Love this jacket. I found it to be a little overpriced for how thin it is, but other than the price it was exactly what I wanted and the quality is great! I’m 5’5 weigh 165 and ordered the large. Fit perfect, room for a sweatshirt underneath and still flattering.

    Great but a slimmer cut

I got a large at first and it was tight. I am 5’5” and about 160 w broad shoulders and a bit of a belly. I usually wear large but I had to exchange for an XL. If you are a slimmer large this would fit nicely. It’s a warm jacket and I can’t wait to wear it. It feels great and I like the length and hood.

    Love this lightweight jacket

I loved the reviews of this jacket, so I took and chance and find it amazing. It’s lightweight but has a soft lining. I am a fan of this brand of clothing, so I figured it would be good quality. The fit is snug-ish. I normally wear an xl in shirts so I ordered this in a 2x plus and it fits great. Shows your figure nicely without being too tight or too baggy. It came just below my butt. I am 5’7 about 220.

Does exactly what it says, keeps you dry!

I purchased this jacket prior to a hiking trip I was taking in Vermont and the Adirondacks knowing the weather would be questionable on the day we were arriving. I’m SOOO glad I did, while hiking in Vermont we rain into a rainstorm on our way down the mountain. And when I say rain, it POURED BUCKETS AND HAILED and HIGH WINDS. This jacket kept my entire upper body completely dry minus my hands and part of my chest where I had it exposed to the elements (my doing). But underneath I was dry and stayed warm the ENTIRE way down, I’ve owned rain jackets in the past that haven’t even come close to how waterproof this jacket was. It’s very light weight and easy to carry in a pack if you’re traveling. I ordered a small and had room to layer underneath. I love how the back end is longer to cover my butt when hiking with a backpack on. It never rode up or anything which is always a plus. If you’re looking for something lightweight, want to layer underneath (or not) this jacket is well worth the money. I’ve been bringing it with me hiking ever since. I literally don’t go anywhere without it now, I’m so glad I purchased this before my trip or else I would of been soaked like my hiking mate was with her non waterproof jacket 😞. Would highly recommend! Thinking about ordering another color. If you’re going for warmth though this jacket wouldn’t be it, it’s quite thin like a windbreaker but honestly I’d rather layer with my own clothes than have a thick jacket. 10/10 would recommend.

Tight in the shoulders and arms

I like the color and the material; it seems well made. However, I am returning it because I can’t bend my arms at the elbow or move my shoulders to drive. If you have broad shoulders like I do, don’t buy this jacket. This is the second Columbia jacket I’ve bought that fits like this. I thought the first one was a fluke, but I won’t be buying Columbia ever again.

    Slimmer/normal fit

I bought 3 of these – one for each car. I love them. They have an inner lining. I am 5’8 about 130 pounds and it fits just right. I would call it a slimmer fit which is why people are saying to buy a size up. I bought a medium and that is my usual size. I have longer arms and the length is perfect. I wear this to places where the AC is cold and it is perfect – stores, doctor’s offices, movie theaters etc.. I also wear it outside in cooler weather. I have not worn it in a rainstorm so I can’t say if it is totally waterproof. I have worn it in rain going between the car and the store and have stayed dry. I like the length of the coat too and that there is a hood.

    New favorite jacket!

I needed a jacket for our UK trip in November that I could layer underneath. I have another Columbia rain jacket size L that isn’t lined and I wouldn’t be able to wear a sweatshirt under. I also didn’t want to take my bulky winter Columbia coat. This worked perfectly and is my new favorite jacket! I usually wear a L or XL and I ordered a 1X (same as XL??). I loved that it was long to go over my booty which was also another bonus being in a rainy climate and sitting on lots of wet things. The liner was nice and warm and I only had to wear a sweatshirt under a couple of times in the early morning. Mine did come with a little hole in one of the pockets. This is definitely my new go to jacket when leaving the house if I don’t need my heavy winter one. I ordered the gray but it looks like blue to me.
