Works as designed
This review is for Nite Ize Steelie Orbiter Magnetic Socket – Low Profile Portable Magnetic Car Vent Mount for SmartphoneProduct works exactly as advertised – used to replace the clamp mount after if failed.Pros:Has never let my large screen, heavy smart phone accidentally come off the mount.Adhesive on mount holds very well – be sure to clean surface of phone case before mounting.Cons:Does not always keep it’s position on the mount (mount is designed to stick to their steel ball system, and the phone sometimes self adjusts the angle when driving if you hit bumps). Where I have it mounted, this causes the power cord to put undue pressure against the power port on the phone (bottrom of phone rests against the dashboard when this happens).Side note: Cannot be used as a middle piece between the ball mount and a flat metal plate on your phone case. I had initially wanted to just put a metal plate on my phone case – put this on the vent mount ball and let the magnet be the middle piece that held it all together. However, the design of the mount ensures the magnet is just far enough away from the adhesive side that it does not have enough magnetic properties on the adhesive side. In retrospect, I believe this is a good thing as a strong magnetic field right up against your phone would probably interfere with the phone’s various sensors and antennae.

Great product , false advertisement
I love these magnets, been using them for years on my phones. i would give a 5 star, but the fact that they have a photo of not one, but two magnets and only receiving one was a bit disappointing. Clearly false advertisement when people expect to be getting a deal for two, hence the only reason for my intention to buy. Happy with the product, disappointed with the misleading advertisement.

Great for long drives
This is my go to phone mount, I have one in all my cars. When I had to drive 12hrs a day for work it made life so much better. My maps on my phone were at a good position plus I never had to fumble for my phone to change music or answer a call. I still use it everything I drive anywhere. It’s nice to not have any vibrations on the phone, it’s really sturdy.

THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST PRODUCT FOR CELL PHONE HOLDER EVER MADE. EASY TO ADHERE TO A VEHICLE MAGNET WORK AND ADHERES TO THE PHONE SECURELY. Too small
I have one of these mounts already that works great, thought I was ordering the same one; this one is tiny; the size of a dime or smaller…it doesn’t hold the weight of either of my phones as is let alone while driving with turns and bumps. Wish they’d specify the size differences so I can order the right one; the one I have that works well is the size of a half dollar or so, works wonders in the car; get the bigger one.

I’ve been using these for several years and highly recommend for anyone that uses their phone a lot in their vehicle. Vent mount is Perfect for cars that don’t have a smooth surface on the dash to attach a dash mount. Or if you want something without glue or sticky tape and that’s portable.Pros:Easy to use.PORTABLE – Can easily move it from car to carSTRONG magnetDuring warm months the cold A/C blowing from vent will keep the phone cool. (Better than dash mount which exposes your phone to the hot sun coming in through the windshield).Strong vent clip.SturdyIf you share a vehicle Addition magnets for back of phone can be purchased. This allows anyone with a phone magnet to use the vent clip.I carry 2 phones and can mount either phone as needed.Cons:Because the vent clip magnet is a smooth ball, If you don’t install the phone magnet on the back of your phone directly in the center your phone itself may tilt downward. The screen will still be visible but could be annoying. Not an issue if you use your phone horizontally.In cold weather your warm air blowing from vent may warm the back of your phone. I live in a warm state so it’s not an issue for me.

Strong Magnet
I use this when I work out so I can just stick my phone to my steel power cage. It works great, but be advised: the magnet is strong. When you pull the phone off the cage, the magnet pulls off the plate you stick to your phone case and stays on the cage. The only way to keep the magnet attached to the phone case is to slide the phone off the side of the cage rather than pulling it. I want to be able to just pull it off, so I bought a 3 dollar case, super glued the magnet directly to the case, and now I just switch out cases when I’m working out. Works great.

This is what I use in all my cars
I love this product and use it for both my vehicles. It works great with my phone and holds like glue, especially when I 4×4. The versatility of the product means I can take it anywhere and I use the whole setup when I travel with rental cars and everything. You can’t go wrong with Nite Ize.

Love Steele. So many pros!
Used these for years now. They are a little spendy but worth every penny. Be careful to not put your debit/credit cards near it. Lol i deactivated one of mine by doing it. They last a long time. After a couple years the magnet does get weak & need to replace the entire thing. But it’s not bulky & the magnet is strong to keep at the angle you want. You just attach the small ball wherever you want instead of a bulky flimsy vent phone holder.

Super glue
I have bought this product a few times and it works really well in my car and my husbands truck but this piece that goes on your phone doesn’t stick very well and both I have purchased we have had to superglue to our phone cases to get them to stay otherwise this piece will stay connected to the ball mount instead of the phone when you remove your phone from the mount.

Perfect
So I have been using Steele for about 6 years now. I have never bought the same product twice until I found Steele. The magnet is ridiculously strong. In fact, I had put the phone on the SIDE of my car while buckling in my baby. Drove 30 miles. Realized I had forgotten my phone on the side of the car. Pulled over. And my phone was in the SAME SPOT as I had placed it. The part of the magnet that connects to the ball mount has a rubber lining that prevents it from slipping and slide. It ACTUALLY stays in place and does not shift around while hitting bumps or potholes. When using navigation on my phone I don’t have to hold my phone or pick up my phone to see the directions because it’s already right in front of my face hands free. I don’t have to take my attention off the road to look at my next turn.So if you’re looking for a car mount that only requires on hand to put your phone on it. Only requires on hand to remove your phone from it. Doesn’t slip. Doesn’t slide. And literally saves lives. This is the one.

Very Powerful
I only gave it four stars because this is my second magnet. The chrome finish on the magnet starts to chip off over time. I think the first magnet lasted about a year before all the chrome chipped off. If you have the steelie ball in your vehicle, make sure it’s not over your cup holder or you could potentially be drinking chrome chips that fall into your drink. I use it to hold my phone on my motorcycle gas tank and it works great for that.

Waaaay too expensive!
The magnet is really strong but it is simply way too expensive for what you get. I was between a rock and a hard spot, and needed to pay a Kings Ransom for a magnet. Otherwise it is a good product.

We love these magnets for our phones. They’re very strong. I honestly put my phone all over the place, since I don’t always have pockets.We have the car mount as well, and I feel like we could get into a bad car accident, and my phone would stay put. Heavy phone secure w/magnetic “dash mount”
I’ve been using Steelie magnets and ball sockets 4 yrs, since I started with my iPhone 6. I use the “dash mount” connection, tho so far I’ve mounted it everywhere but my dash. I have a mount in the middle of a kitchen cabinet. Some may object esthetically, but it’s small and is surrounded by stainless steel appliances, so it looks fine to me. (I’ve considered removing all cupboard knobs and sticking these dash mount knobs over the filled screw hole, leaving them to function as doorknobs as well as choices of where to put ny phone.) It’s the perfect place for a phone as I make breakfast and read my phone.Now, however, I have one of the heavier phones around, a Samsung Galaxy 9+, and I worried at first that the magnetic connections wouldn’t feel as solid a link-up as I did my lighter phone. But after a month of using them with this new phone, I can still say my Steelies are as great as ever! I pop the 9+ on the cupboard knob in the kitchen to follow recipes, charge it at nite on the knob of a pedestal in my bedroom. And it couldn’t be more secure. In fact, I just ordered a dash Steelie knob finally to place on my, yes, dash.How irreplaceable is this magnetic ball and cup joint to me? Well, I originally bought and charged my big new phone on a kind of slick wireless charger–I had to find a slightly tortured way to place the magnet on the phone case without it interfering with the tall (but beautiful) wireless charging device. Phone was charging fine. All looked good. Then I read in the phone’s manual that you’re not supposed to have any “foreign material” between the phone and the wireless charger. It could harm the battery. What? Not even a case? No, I am not willing to take the case off and on every day. Nor am I willing to leave my phone naked and unprotected all nite in a house that sees kids, adults, cats, and dogs, all about their nocturnal business. It didn’t take two seconds to put my wireless charger in the drawer. It took two minutes to strip off the magnet (the dental floss works) from awkward placement and put it at the best balanced fulcrum. The convenience of solid, safe places to put my phone (I can always find it on one of the ball sockets) interests me far more than “slick” technology that requires removing my case every time I want to charge my phone. Steelie technology (magnets!) wins out over wireless (what everyone is supposed to need now). At least for me. For now.

The Strongest Magnet
I have bought several of these magnets from Steelie brand and they have been exceptional!To attest to the strength of the magnet, I accidentally left it on the roof of my car while I drove somewhere. The phone didn’t even budge. I stick it everywhere metal is accessible.On my pole, my fridge, my car, my microwave; EVERYWHERE THERE IS REAL METAL!Only downside, I had to glue the magnet to my dash and glue the oribital plate onto my phone case. It sucks that I can’t just use the adhesive that comes with the product, but the versatile options makes this 4 stars out of 5.

Like the Concept…
This was a replacement magnet for my new phone. The first one stuck so well to my leather case, I couldn’t get it off. This replacement did not stick at all. I’m having to resort to plan c. I do love having a safe place to hang my phone in the car for easy access. Wish it would stick to my leather wallet!

It won’t hold IPhone14
Well, after several years and a couple phones i will have to look elsewhere for a holder. I bought an IPhone14 max (the biggest one) and the dot that goes on your phone case won’t stay on because it’s too heavy. So disappointed! Ugh this was also great for travel. I keep the ac clip on in my travel bag for rental cars. Now what am I going to do!

Great for the gym or garage
The magnet is very strong and holds my phone securely in place. It is also easy to install, simply stick it on the back of your phone or phone case and you’re good to go. It sticks to anything metal and it sticks good
This is on my husband’s phone, and it stays in place whenever he sticks it to anything metal. It’s a bigger magnet than the one that comes with the ball mount, so it’s way stronger and the weight of the phone doesn’t hinder the magnetism

Strongest magnet ever
I have been meaning to write a review on this item for years but kept forgetting. Best purchase ever. A few years ago I had bought one of these as a mount for my phone in the car. One time I had placed my phone on top of my car while I was putting other things in my car. I totally forgot to grab it. When I got home, 5 miles later, I realized I had left my phone on top of my car. It was still there!!!!!! Can’t thank steelie enough for saving my phones life when I left it in danger.
