DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY
I cannot get this phone to make more than one call without having to turn it off and restart it again. I tried to reset it but it does not help. Don’t waste your time and money like I did.

The key screen stays lit and kills battery life
We bought 2 of these and the backscreen stays lit and cannot be turned off until the unit dies, life is around 10 hours. Have turned off the feature or reset to 15 seconds under settings and it still does not fix the problem. The only way to fix is to remove battery & reboot. Several years ago we posted a negative review on Tracfones site and Tracphone deleted it. We like Tracphones service, but their phone are of poor quality and difficult to program.

Not easy to use
I don’t like that it did not let me know how many days and hours I had left on my tracfone. It also took a lot more steps to make a call than my old flip phone.

Got it activated, but it would lock up during voice calls – couldn’t hang up. Hard resets and software updates did not help.

Lousy phone
Tracfone was impossible for me to set up. I’ve installed3 PCs and 3 printers and it was easy. This phone couldn’t be set up by Einstein. The directions were too little and could have been written in German. What a piece of crap.

Horrible User interface and more and more
This phone is incomprehensible. The user interface makes no sense. You need to take the battery out to make it work. No idea how the touch screen works. It has a bunch of icons on the screen that make no sense. The text on the screen is hard to read…I could go on and on. Straight up garbage made by Belkin.

Defective from DAY ONE
Phone after plan set up would make one call then not another until it was turned off and reset. Then it would not let you hang up without turning it off again. Worst phone I’ve had in my 15 years of having them.

Update: Phones do not work.
IMPORTANT UPDATE!! The next day after posting the review below, BOTH PHONES STOPPED MAKING CALLS AGAIN! I am returning them to Amazon, but lose money on the NON-REFUNDABLE TracFone plans. P.S. Be sure to take off auto enroll payments or you’ll keep getting charged.I bought a new TracFone TCL flip phone 2, set it up, and it wouldn’t make calls right. The phone was only allowing the first call to connect, but not disconnect. The phone became inoperable, forcing me to remove the battery to reset it. I also was getting a “high data usage” message in notifications. I thought it was a lemon, and bought same exact phone again, but it had the same problem. After 4+ days, money out for 2 new phones and prepaid plans, countless hours with customer service and tech support-with no help, I finally figured out how to fix it. Here is a simple 9 step process that fixed the problem… (WARNING: All stored info WILL BE LOST after doing this.)1.) Power phone on.2.) Press OK (center circle).3.) Go to “Settings” and press OK.4.) Go to #5. “Phone settings” and press OK.5.) Go to #8. “Reset” and press OK.6.) Go to #2. “Factory data reset” and press OK7.) It is on 1. “Phone”, press OK and a WARNING will come up that you are about to reset your phone and lose stored info, press OK again and it will work on resetting the phone by connecting it to the network carrier.8.) When finished, turn the phone off by pressing and holding the red button above the 3.9.) Turn it back on by pressing and holding the same button.Tada…PROBLEM SOLVED! PHONE WORKS GREAT. To make sure it wasn’t a fluke, I did the same 9 steps on the other new, same exact phone, that had the same problems, and now it works perfectly, too! I don’t know why tech support never had me try this, but, all’s well that ends well!P.S. Being a Prime Member, I could probably send the second phone back, but I think I’ll just keep it. They are good phones at a great price, especially for folks that just want a phone to make calls, like my Dad ; )UPDATE: Aaarrrg! They stopped working again the next day! So much time and money wasted (on the TracFone plans-NO refunds)

Beware of This Company
Tracphone has the worst customer service. I guess that is from out sourcing their business. I sent back a phone to them that never worked. That was on November 21. Here it is now close to a month and I still can’t find out why I haven’t received a replacement or a refund. The shipping department told me if they issue a refund it would take up to 30 days. One evening I call got hung up on 9 times. Guess that’s that overseas service. I will think twice before I ever do business with these people again.

Does the Job
I bought this to have a neat retro flip phone and to get away from my large Samsung A20 smart phone. It’s very basic. All it does is let you talk on the phone, take pictures, and get text messages and other minor tasks. If you want anything else, don’t buy this phone. I like it because it runs on Android, rather than the popular Indian operating system used by most other low budget flip phones (I had one of those and got rid of it.)

Joke
Now I know why Tracfone has such a bad reputation. If you need help you will not be able to speak with anyone who speaks good English. The TCL Flip-2 is a joke. It works and doesn’t work for no apparent reason (wouldn’t receive or send calls). Very delayed power up makes you think you didn’t turn it on. Powering it off fixed the send/receive issue 1st time but not the 2d time. Symbol on screen doesn’t match anything in the manual or on-line. At $30 it is still not worth it. Buyer Beware.

Seems great for my needs and there’s a surprise ending!
I just wanted a back up phone. I ordered it on Monday, it arrived the next day. I bought a one year 400 talk and text minute card, delivered via email, from Walmart.com for $99. The time it took to unbox and assemble the phone, call the 800# to activate the service was somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes, super easy. The phone itself is more substantial than I expected for a $20 phone. The screens are easy to read, and there are limited settings for customizing the phone and it’s WiFi capable. It’s a very basic flip phone with few features, but honestly I only need call or text in an emergency in the event my main phone is dead. If you’re looking for a basic phone I think it’s worth the $20.I charged the phone when it arrived Tuesday, it charged pretty quickly. Today is Saturday and other than some test calls, and the usual playing around with a new phone to get things set up it’s mostly been in standby and the battery still at 90%.I have to laugh at myself as I look at the icons on the screen and by force of habit I try tapping them and have to remind myself it’s not a touch screen…and I have had flip phones in the past but it’s been awhile.I made a couple of test calls and texts. The sound is amazingly clear, and sad to say maybe better than my main cell, though that might be because this phone is on the Verizon network and my main one is Sprint/T-Mobile.Now for the surprise. After a few test calls I texted to see my balance, and how much of my 400 minutes I’d used, and to my surprise it showed I had 1198 minutes remaining. So I don’t know how or why, but I apparently received three times the minutes I was expecting.

DO NOT Purchase This Phone!!
I thought this was a good, less expensive option for my 80-something father to replace his damaged flip phone so gave it a try. First phone out out the box malfunctioned significantly. This happened after setting it up and activating it with a Tracfone SIM subscription. Calls failed to go thru or connect. Call dialing repeatedly failed to connect. Any call that connected failed to disconnect or hang up using the call end button or by closing the phone. Phone failed to power off despite holding the power button. The only way to make it stop was by removing the battery. The emergency contact button on the front could not be programmed. After 8 reboots the phone would connect only once each time and then repeat the behavior above after just one call. So I returned it, thinking this was a fluke/defective unit. 2nd phone, same exact behavior right out of the box which can only mean this is a manufacturing defect in the hardware or the phone’s software. Called Tracfone customer support 3x in the Philippines and every single operator hung up on me halfway through a problem solving discussion. I gave up and am returning the 2nd phone. This is a “you get what you pay for” item. It’s useless and so is Tracfone customer service. A waste of effort, time and money.

not too bad
For the price that you’re paying for this phone, the product is not that bad. Still, when I buy something I want it to work. This phone gives my trouble many times, and I keep having to restart it. I wouldn’t buy this again, and as a spare phone, I guess it kind of does it’s job.

After 5 weeks, it won’t turn off or make phone calls!
We’ve used it for about 10 minutes a day, every other day, for 5 weeks, and otherwise it sits in a drawer. Now it won’t let us make outgoing calls and it won’t power off. I reached out for tech support & after 20 minutes of “I need to look into it” we were told someone else had to call us to address the issue. We waited for the promised call that was supposed to happen within 5 minutes. It’s been 2 days & still no one has called us. So we now have a phone that is essentially useless & apparently no recourse.

Great for seniors!
I purchased this for my husband so he could call me easily if I was out. Programmed the speed dial button and all he has to do is press and hold until he sees my name on the screen. It is also programmed to be connected automatically to an incoming call when you flip it open. It is well made for a flip phone and we are on the $10/month Tracfone plan since there is little usage. I would recommend for someone who doesn’t use apps or want to deal with a smartphone. You do have to be careful as the volume up/down buttons on the side can accidentally be changed when holding the phone.

I got this for my older parents . Received phone 2 days ago. Spent another 40 on a plan . Could not activate on the website didn’t 45 min with customer service to activate . Phone does not dial out says call not sent . If you call the number it goes to voicemail directly . Spent another 1h with their customer technical service . Then they transferred me to a supposedly higher person and disconnected after going through all their technicians steps the phone is worthless the company is worthless . You get what you pay for. Save your money . Not worth the hassle.

Bad buy!
After I set up the phone, I put it away, intending to use it only for emergencies. A few weeks later, I checked it and found that, after every call I attempt, the phone displays, “Call not sent.” Researching customer complaints told me this is a common and usually irreparable problem with the phone. Since I’m too late to return it, I’ll save money by not shopping at Amazon as often as I once did.

Many years a good phone
I have been using Tracfone as my main provider of phone service for a long time (over 40 years with Tracfone). I use a flip phone (they have smart phones too). But the flip phone does fine for me and though I’ve replaced my phones over the years, not often, usually due to changes, like when they went from analog to digital, or when the went from 3 to 4g, they cost next to nothing (around $20 bucks). Only thing I wish it had was a keyboard, but you can text with it, its just more cumbersome, but you get used to it. They have plans where you pay each month but I have always been fine with buying 1 year and some service time which usually lasts me the year. Then I renew in a year and my minutes are tranferred/I don’t loose them. I don’t use long distance but once or twice, just using my saved minutes. The flip has internet access, but the screen is way too small to do anything but maybe check local weather. Fine, I can look on my laptop for that and to do online stuff. I have noticed over the years, that people do not want to ‘talk’ on the phone, preferring to ‘text me’. But that applies to all phones probably.I also have a Straightalk wireless setup at my home for a backup and hardly use it. But its only $18 a month and you have unlimited minutes domestically with that. Total phone bill each month with BOTH phones is about $33. So that’s why I stay with the flip phone, that and with it I know I won’t be spied on so much. Oh and I charge it every day for about 5 minutes. Its a great idea for those seeking to save $$$$

Flip Phone 2 Fix If your phone jams read this:
These phones are portable and convenient . Also they’re very basic . I recently spent 2 hours tryingto resolve a phone gone crazy ,and stumbled upon a miracle ! REMOVE The Battery ; put the batteryback in. This worked for me and may work for you also . Certainly worth trying. I spent two hourshitting every button, and searched the web and manual . Nothing . Removed the battery , hit the redbutton on the phone ( which I guess is the start button ? ). The phone was back to normal .Good Luck !

Phone is O.K., Tracfone isn’t.
The phones do what phones do, but my experience with Tracfone leaves much to be desired. After having accumulated 9,000 unused minutes – several years worth – Tracfone unceremoniously “deactivated” my account. When I tried to find out why, I first received a run-around about not paying my bill which wasn’t possible since I used an “auto pay” program that had worked for years. Next, I was told they had no record of my account. Finally, I just gave up. Caveat emptor!!! Also, note this phone is “locked.” It will ONLY work with a Tracfone account. So, now the device itself a paperweight.
